Guest art_vandelay Report post Posted October 26, 2002 Does anyone watch this? Today was my first time watching Saturday morning cartoons in a long time. I came across this show called "Ultimate Muscle" about a bunch of people that come from around the universe who compete in pro wrestling leagues. What's really cool about the show is the wrestlers sometimes do real wrestling moves. Today, I saw the main character (Kid Muscle) pull out an OCTOPUS STRETCH which he named a "BUTT lock" on his opponent. The reason for the name is because, with the way an Octopus is applied, the ass of the attacker is very close to the victim's head. What Kid Muscle does is he farts after he locks in the hold. Muta and Tajiri can learn from this. Later on, he did a Crucifix Legbar to his opponent, Checkmate's horse-legs (you see, Checkmate has the ability to morph his body into different Chess-piece inspired forms. He was in his Knight form when the move was applied, therefore he had a Centaur-like body). KM also attempted a German Suplex, which Checkmate managed to escape from by detaching his waist from the rest of his body. Besides the wrestling, what surprised me about the show was the adult-orientated humor. One of the commentators asked, "Hey (other announcer's name), what's the strongest muscle on a (the name of Kid Muscle's species)?" I answered in my head, "The dick!", expecting the TV to reply with something lame like "Well you know pal, it's the arm," but to my surprise, the other announcer said, "I'm tempted to say the SPHINCTER, but I know it's the neck." He actuallly said sphincter~! Hahaha... anyway... Oh, and I also caught a couple episodes of X-Men Evolution. Though it doesn't compete with the original animated X-Men, it's got a neat, refreshing concept on old characters.
Guest razazteca Report post Posted October 27, 2002 I was so so so disappointed with this show, I had fond memories of watching the orginal series from the 80s, when I heard about this show on Fox I decided to set the VCR to record last week's show. The episode that I saw was the one when Kid Muscle was the referee of the match that had one of his teammates fighting. The match was ok with KM sticking to the rules, and pulling out Yellow Cards as if it was a Soccer game, funny stuff. What really disappointed me was the Voice Overs, this show has the worst actors to ever to a cartoon. It was almost as bad as Voltron with characters having voices that do not fit, remember Pitch & Sven. Kid Muscle cartoon has that weird Japanese sense of humor which the does not carry over very well with the American voice actors. Oh, and I also caught a couple episodes of X-Men Evolution. Though it doesn't compete with the original animated X-Men, it's got a neat, refreshing concept on old characters I agree the same can be said about Ultimate Muscle..........watered down crap. Avoid show at all cost, get anime fansubs

Guest deadbeater Report post Posted October 31, 2002 If this is what Japanese animators think of pro wrestling, then it is really in a sorry shape. Funny thing though, the lucha kids show on WB are coming off much better than today's AAA. (Edit) Whoa!!! Talk about a diamond in the rough!!! This Checkmate character pulled off one of the best promos this year, if not ever! Imagine Brock Lesnar turning on Paul Heyman, beating him up, destroying his most prized possession as well, all the while talking like William Regal and smacking down The Rock. Checkmate did all that and more. He also had the nerve to say "What's up with that??" No not the way Hurricane says it, but I still marked out.

Guest permagrinning Report post Posted November 5, 2002 The Lucha show just kicks BUTT. They've got mask versus mask. Overweight, over-the-hill wrestlers teaching but still dreaming of that one last comeback, masked toilets, and a firmer concept of babyface/heel management than WWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE does. Plus....they have...... THE FLEA!
