Okay, this is my first ever foray into actual music critique, and I feel I can only talk about that which I know best, so The SmartMarks will be getting a dash of white trash compared to the usual highbrow material as far as music is involved.

The album will be of the Dance/Techno/Trance variety, and I can't decide which one to do, so I ask the people who read the site most (hopefully), the forum denizens, what to do. I'm kind of trying to avoid stuff that is fairly mainstream, thus I won't review any of the Fatboy Slim albums that I know. If anyone is curious, I like him heaps, no further comment.

Fo sheez,

Kotzenjunge

EDIT: Bloody hell, didn't know the italics didn't work in the polls. Wow, I'm a total retard.

Daft Punk's leading the polls with 100% of the votes right now. Excellent, since that's exactly the one I think you should review. I admit that I only know them for "Da Funk" and "Better, Faster, Stronger" (dammit I know that's not the real title too, but I just won a deathmatch tournament cut me some slack!), and would like to know if their other work is worth checking out. And since I'm soon to be established, my vote is the only vote that counts! :P

It's actually "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger." You were close.

I think I'll take votes until Monday after Raw, because I'll probably write it then. Established votes don't count more than others here, and don't count more anywhere. They're just respected more.

I know, I was kidding, but seriously I'd like to know if Daft Punk is worth buying/downloading/listening other than those singles.

By the way, if I could vote twice I'd vote for the Digweed, because that Mixaroonie X really was awesome. I meant to tell you that way back in the AIM convo when you first sent it to me, but yea, your blending was noticeably much better than the other one you sent me.

Kotz, go full-bore and review the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack.

I would, but I don't own it, believe it or not.

Also, my objective is current dance music reviewing.

As if anyone cared, voting closed, review will be up sometime tomorrow.

In the meantime, any suggestions on how to write it?

Interject it with a lot of detailed personal anecdotes. You should also try to make it funny. Remember: Your main objective is not to give the reader any indication of whether the album is worth buying or not. Your objective is to sell yourself and your opinion to the reader.

So... the "I was the only person to dance to this at a club once" story would be a good one.

It's obviously more detailed than that, but you get the idea.

Ehh, not really. A lot of it seems like just noise to me.

There's certainly a strong case for that. A buddy of mine just loaned me a shitload of Laibach, Front 242, Pig, and Einshurdze de Neubauten.

Fucked up German shit. I don't think I like it very much. It's like nothing else I listen to.

He's into it pretty hardcore for whatever reason. Some of it's pretty interesting, with noises like a bass guitar getting thrown down a flight of stairs, and a bunch of other aleatory stuff, then they'll go into a dance beat out of absolutely nowhere.

Daft Punk's Around The World is my favorite music video ever. Just needed to share that.
