Guest HartFan86 Posted October 28, 2002 Report Posted October 28, 2002 On Velocity they had a couple and on Heat they have had a couple this weekend. I haven't seen that many on WWE shows since like...ever. Are we gunna be seeing more unknown wrestlers on these shows or is this just a coincidence?
Guest IB2BLACK Posted October 28, 2002 Report Posted October 28, 2002 I guess they need to make Heat/Velocity wrestlers look good. If they start showing up on RAW & Smackdown, then you have to wonder.
Guest BoboBrazil Posted October 28, 2002 Report Posted October 28, 2002 Hopefully we get to see more jobbers. I always liked seeing these new jobbers come in every week.
Guest IB2BLACK Posted October 28, 2002 Report Posted October 28, 2002 I wonder how much they get paid, for 5 minutes of fame.
Guest Spaceman Spiff Posted October 28, 2002 Report Posted October 28, 2002 I wouldn't exactly call the "Jobbers to the Stars", considering who they were facing...
Guest Trivia247 Posted October 28, 2002 Report Posted October 28, 2002 back in the day...Jobbers were Plentiful and main wrestlers used them to look good. Last few years There are only Main wrestlers...the Steve Lombardi's and Iron Mike Sharps and the Tony Garea's became the thing of the past. I believe old school methods were better, if you showcase your main wrestlers, then pit them against local indi's and make them look good... How can you push midcarders when they get squashed by Egomaniac Main Eventers who screw the bosses daughter...I mean reallly.
Guest MillenniumMan831 Posted October 28, 2002 Report Posted October 28, 2002 I wonder how much they get paid, for 5 minutes of fame. I think it's something like $500/night.
Guest AndrewTS Posted October 28, 2002 Report Posted October 28, 2002 I wouldn't exactly call the "Jobbers to the Stars", considering who they were facing... The term is wrong--just jobbers works. JTTS are over midcarders who are viewed with credibility, but not as main eventers. Scott Hall was a perennial JTTS, either in WCW or WWF (although you might expect him to win the title in WCW). Most of the Raw roster except for HHH would be JTTS, except for the sole star, HHH.
Guest Harry Hood Posted October 28, 2002 Report Posted October 28, 2002 Then shouldn't Raw's players be simple Jobbers to the Star?
Guest AndrewTS Posted October 28, 2002 Report Posted October 28, 2002 Then shouldn't Raw's players be simple Jobbers to the Star? Yeah, but Kane is a temporary "star" right now.
Guest cynicalprofit Posted October 28, 2002 Report Posted October 28, 2002 Bring on the idny talent, YES! Heres hoping Vince grabs some ROH and NWA guys just because he can, they get great reactions, and Vinces signs them. *wakes up from dream* huh, what....oh man, indy guys are cool and all, but that era is passe(sp).
Guest Army Eye Posted October 28, 2002 Report Posted October 28, 2002 Scott Hall? There's no way he was a JTTS. He won multiple singles and tag titles, and just never got anywhere near JTTS level. A JTTS is a guy who gets no push and can only beat jobbers, and maybe another JTTS once in a great while. Typically they would get sacrificed to whatever new guy was getting a push. Koko B. Ware, Virgil, Skinner, Hercules, Aldo Montoya are some classic examples. A contemporary JTTS could be someone like, say, Crash Holly, or D-Lo, but really the term is not as applicable anymore, since the phenomenon of the 'jobber match' is all but dead. As the OP notes, maybe it's coming back but I sure don't watch Heat or Velocity so I couldn't tell you. Just to clarify, for the guy who posted first: jobber - no gimmick, no mic time, never wins jobber to the stars - has a gimmick, probably DID get a big push at some time in the past, but now is reduced to padding his win/loss by beating jobbers but losing to everyone else
Guest Big McLargeHuge Posted October 28, 2002 Report Posted October 28, 2002 By that definition (which is pretty dead on), you described Chris Jericho perfectly.
Guest Big McLargeHuge Posted October 28, 2002 Report Posted October 28, 2002 You're right. That victory over Trish last week had to be one of the greatest moments in his career. I'm venting, I know, but I have to.
Guest buffybeast Posted October 28, 2002 Report Posted October 28, 2002 Just to clarify, for the guy who posted first: jobber - no gimmick, no mic time, never wins jobber to the stars - has a gimmick, probably DID get a big push at some time in the past, but now is reduced to padding his win/loss by beating jobbers but losing to everyone else Sounds like Albert as of late........
Guest Mad Dog Posted October 28, 2002 Report Posted October 28, 2002 I would call Scott Hall a JTTS. Yes he got a bunch of titles but he could never beat the top tier. He's a 90s version of Greg Valentine.
Guest the 1inch punch Posted October 28, 2002 Report Posted October 28, 2002 Sounds like Jericho to me
Guest buffybeast Posted October 28, 2002 Report Posted October 28, 2002 I thought the only reason why Greg Valentine got any of his titles was because he was sleeping with a male member of management.
Guest bravesfan Posted October 28, 2002 Report Posted October 28, 2002 I believe Hall was JTTS in his WCW run. Yes, the guy held the U.S., Television and Tag Titles, yet he never beat anyone in the upper-midcard or main event tiers, besides Booker T. JTTS's are mid-card to upper midcarders that hold useless titles and do not beat anyone of considerable heat (Lance Storm, Test and Christian, for example) not curtain-jerkers like Crash or D'Lo (even though I like them both).

S.D. Jones, Iron Mike Sharpe, Barry O -- Jobbers Outback Jack, Tito Santana, Blue Blazer -- Jobbers to the Stars
ChrisMWaters Posted October 28, 2002 Report Posted October 28, 2002 What would the Mulkeys be considered then? And I find it funny that Jobber S.D. Jones was in WrestleMania.
Guest Midnight Express83 Posted October 28, 2002 Report Posted October 28, 2002 Well he lost in 17 seconds. Big whoop. Besides, Wrestlemania 1 was full of jobbers to the stars winning meanless matches, with 2 or 3 major matches.
Guest Trivia247 Posted October 28, 2002 Report Posted October 28, 2002 Wrestlemania's 1 & 2 wasn't as established...so you had the odd S D Jones, and George Wells remember him??? Neither do most people.
ChrisMWaters Posted October 28, 2002 Report Posted October 28, 2002 Well he lost in 17 seconds. Big whoop. [WWE Promotional Mode]NO NO NO! IT WAS 9 SECONDS! BUNDY SQUASHED JONES IN 9 SECONDS![/WWE Promotional Mode] Heh, sorry. Had to do that.
Guest snowfan Posted October 28, 2002 Report Posted October 28, 2002 Al Snow.... original Jobber to the Stars....
Guest Army Eye Posted October 29, 2002 Report Posted October 29, 2002 I believe Hall was JTTS in his WCW run. No.. that's not what a JTTS is.
Guest evenflowDDT Posted October 29, 2002 Report Posted October 29, 2002 Val Venis is another prominent Jobber to the Stars.
cawthon777 Posted October 29, 2002 Report Posted October 29, 2002 I love it, I just imagine I'm watching an old episode of WWF Superstars.
Guest The Old Me Posted October 29, 2002 Report Posted October 29, 2002 In today's world, jobbers have been replaced by hosses.
