Promo: The Plot Thickens

In an interview area backstage, a camera is focused on Ben Hardy, as he prepares to interview Ejiro Fasaki. “I’m standing here with Ejiro Fasaki,” says Ben, “who will be in a match later tonight here at Wrath against Tim Dillon for the European Title. Ejiro, before we talk about your title shot, I have to ask: what was the deal with you attacking the Wildchild last week?”

Ejiro sniffs the air and looks disdainfully at Ben “I wasn’t attacking him, I was protecting him. I have a responsibility as the SJL’s newest role model to look out for the best interests of the other wrestlers.

Ben Hardy stares at Ejiro with an incredulous look on his face. “But Ejiro, just take a look at this footage from last week.” Video footage airs from Metal, showing Ejiro running into McCaughlin’s pub and attacking Wildchild. “Surely you don’t mean to suggest that you were ‘protecting’ Wildchild last week when you broke a beer pitcher over his head, do you?”

“Oh ye of little brain,” replies Ejiro, nonplussed. “I was indeed protecting Wildchild. You see, I see a great deal of potential in the Wildchild, and because of that, I don’t want to see him to throw his career away. It would be irresponsible of me as a role model to allow him put his body at risk like that, without regard for his future. He’s going to cripple himself in a vain and futile attempt to appease the sheep out in the audience, and I’m not going to just sit still and let him do that.

“He’ll see,” continues Ejiro. “When he gets a little older and has a better view of the big picture, he’ll see that I was right, and that everything I’ve done has been for his own good.”

Ben rolls his eyes. “Anyway, onto your match tonight. What do you think you’re going to have to do to take the belt away from Tim Dillon?”

Ejiro scowls at Ben. “Timmy Dillon is more of a boxer than a wrestler; he’s exactly what I want to save Wildchild from: a wrestler who wasted his potential, and is now nothing more than brawler, a garbage wrestler. That sort of thing may fly in the pub, but not in that ring. Unless I need to remind you, that ring is a no-suck zone; he’s out of his league against me...”

Suddenly, Ejiro notices that Ben Hardy’s attention is diverted towards something behind him. He turns around and finds himself face-to-face with the Wildchild.

“Excusez-moi, monsieur Fasaki,” says Wildchild, “but I don’ t’ink I remember askin’ you to try an’ save me from myself. I t’ink I’m doin’ just fine on my own, an’ I’ll thank you very much t’stay out of my business, oui?

“Look, kid,” replies Ejiro “You’ve got a lot to learn about this business. If you still want to be around in ten years, and a superstar like me, you really need to take my advice. Just believe me when I tell you that I’m doing this for your own good.”

“It looks t’me like your doin’ it for your own good,” replies Wildchild. “I’m t’inkin’ you just didn’ want to have to face me for the European Title tonight.”

Ejiro bristles at this. “You don’t know what’s good for you, kid, but I do. That’s why you need to take my advice. You’re going to going to end up in a wheelchair if you don’t.”

Wildchild cocks his head at Ejiro. “Is that a threat, monsieur?”

Ejiro holds his hands up passively. “Just some friendly advice, that’s all.”

Wildchild shakes his head. “Look, monsieur Fasaki, I don’ know what you’re selling, but I’m not in de market for it. I’ll thank you very much to stay out of my matches, if you don’ want any trouble.”

With that, Wildchild walks away, with Ben Hardy following him. The camera remains, focusing on Ejiro, who is seething as he watches Wildchild walk off. “Suit yourself. I was hoping to have your cooperation, but if you don’t want to do things the easy way, we’ll just have to do them the hard way.”

As Ejiro begins to walk in the opposite direction, he notices a hand signaling to him from a darkened area of the hallway. Ejiro walks over to the hand, with the camera still in tow, to find Jack the Ripper.

“Excuse me, Ejiro,” says Jack, his face plastered with a fake smile, “I heard everything that you just said, and I was just thinking of a way I we could work together, and I could help you… err… ‘protect’ Wildchild.”

“I’m interested,” replies Ejiro. “What do you have in mind?”

Jack starts to speak, but finally realizes the cameraman standing in the background. The smile disappears, and his eyes grow hard. “Sod off, wanker,” he yells, as he pushes the cameraman to the ground.

Great, great promo. As Jack said, the dialogue was great: You really put Ejiro over as the "Holier-than-thou" Heel, and Wildchild's was as great as it ever was. Crossing into another feud with Jack, it seems. Interesting.....

Sounds like a mix and match tag match if I've ever seen one. And might I just say... YESSSSS! I've been dying to write a tag match for no good reason.

Anyway, great promo, I discovered first hand how hard it is to write Wildchild dialogue on Saturday. It's just not that easy. Anyway, that's the direction I have planned for the ladder match... so it will all be good.
