Mostly because the few spells where I had a decent machine, I was renting it and never knew when I'd lose the funds to keep it, so I never paid up to buy a PC game. However, with my rockin' VIAO desktop now, a friend handed me the first DIABLO and told me to borrow it. I suppose I ask now, before I load it up and invest time in it . . . is it good? Guest GeneMean Report post Posted October 29, 2002 I never played the original Diablo. I heard online play was nothing but hacks, cheats and griefers. D2 (plus expansion) was a blast, although I can't understand why people would replay and replay and replay and replay just to get a better xbow/axe/whatever in order to replay again. Guest areacode212 Report post Posted October 29, 2002 The first Diablo is still very fun to play (I never played it online for the reasons GeneMean listed). The fact that you can't run in the dungeon makes it a little tedious, but it's fun to walk around killing stuff and finding new gear. It's definitely worth playing. In some ways, I prefer it to Diablo II. The music was better and more memorable, and it just had a cooler, darker atmosphere. You really felt like you were all alone in that dungeon underneath Tristram and that only you could stop all the evil. Once you finish it, you should replay it with a different character class. Guest redbaron51 Report post Posted October 29, 2002 Online can be fun, if you know people who are not hacks, like myself, which my guy is not a hack yet he is at level 34.
