Guest The Amazing Rando Report post Posted October 30, 2002 I just got back from this crazy ass concert. Doors opened at 7:30 and started about 5 minutes before the scheduled 8:00, giving the late runners a heads up. They didn't miss much. Pulse Ultra was trying way too hard to sell themselves as an up-and-coming rock band, shilling merchandise between every song, and pleading with us to buy it. The lead singer even showed off his pants being held up by gaffer tape. After they played for about 30 minutes an intermission occured for about 15 minutes to set up for Project 86. They were better... Project 86 has been around longer and has a wider fan following, allowing me (who owns only their Drawing Black Lines album) to know about two songs that they played and I actually got into those...the others I feigned general interest unless something really caught my attention...which nothing really did. When they finished their set...another 15 minute intermission occured... ...they saved the BEST for last... I am a HUGE Taproot fan...HUGE! I exploded with emotion from the point they began "Mirror's Reflection" as their first song...tore through a few more songs before hitting MY SONG..."I"...and making me absolute shoot through the roof with screaming, chanting, and almost throwing myself into the mosh pit. They then alternated between new and old songs (even throwing in a section of "Down With The Sickness" from Disturbed at the end of a song) before finishing with their newest hit "Poem"..... Stephen Richards...the lead singer...played the crowd perfectly and even moshed with them for a good five minutes before returning to the stage for the next song. This was so much better than watching them from a distance at Ozzfest 2k1.....and I am now an even bigger fan of them...which i didn't think was possible... VIVA LA TAPROOT~! All in all...I give this concert a 7 out of 10...with 5 of the points coming from Taproot, 1.5 from Project 86, and .5 from Pulse Ultra... if they would have given me 70 minutes with Taproot..i would have gone 10 out of 10......they are that damn good... I don't care who thinks nu-metal sucks.... -- The Amazing Rando
