Guest imajackoff? Posted October 30, 2002 Report Posted October 30, 2002 Had the chance to see the new Michael Moore documentary Bowling for Columbine today. I think I'll need a couple days to fully digest the film, but my first instinct is to say this is the best work he has ever done. I've enjoyed his two previous docu-films Roger and Me and The Big One, but 'Columbine' isnt done as heavy (left) handed as those pictures. While the movie always looks at things through his liberal eyes, Moore isnt really on the attack here. He seems more interested in trying to find out why our society has such a love affair with violence and guns in particular. I definately suggest seeing this if you get the oppurtunity. It's hilarious one moment (the south park style "History of America" animated segment is classic), and chilling the next.
Guest C.H.U.D. Posted October 30, 2002 Report Posted October 30, 2002 I thought it was great. It was a scathing, in your face look at American society and how much fear there is. The cartoon about the "history of America" was hilarious. The security camera footage of the Columbine footage was disturbing. And boy, did he ever expose Charlton Heston. Highly recommended!
Guest evenflowDDT Posted October 30, 2002 Report Posted October 30, 2002 It opens in SC theatres this weekend. Hopefully I can get the money to see it before it leaves (unlike Metropolis). I'm looking forward to it.
Guest converge241 Posted October 31, 2002 Report Posted October 31, 2002 that footage in cloumbine with the sad music, and then the montage to "wonderful world".. haunting stuff i was glad i found a theater that had it in Boston when it came out.. one of the best movies i have EVER seen
Guest Incandenza Posted October 31, 2002 Report Posted October 31, 2002 I'm hoping it's better than the iffy The Big One. I'd say Roger & Me was one of the best films of the 80s, and I was fan of TV Nation (having not gotten Bravo until recently, I haven't had the chance to see The Awful Truth).
Guest imajackoff? Posted November 1, 2002 Report Posted November 1, 2002 After mulling it over for awhile, Ive decided that this certainly is Moore's best work to date. Furthermore, its edged out One Hour Photo as my vote for best film of the year so far. Im pimping this movie to anybody and everybody.
Guest cynicalprofit Posted November 1, 2002 Report Posted November 1, 2002 Ok this movie sounds like its worth the price of a ticket, and theres probably not gonna be to many ppl to watch it.
