Guest oldschoolwrestling Posted October 30, 2002 Report Posted October 30, 2002 I doubt it, but hopefully this will be a wake up call to Vince McMahon. I don't know what cased him to wake up back when WCW was kicking his ass in the mid 90's, but hopefully this does something similar. He just kept throwing shit at the wall until something stuck. Right now nothing is sticking. Its all just smelling.
ChrisMWaters Posted October 30, 2002 Report Posted October 30, 2002 Good point. After all, McMahon is the guy that thought that Marc Mero would be a viable main eventer...even over Austin
Guest godthedog Posted October 30, 2002 Report Posted October 30, 2002 people should start making signs that say "it's not the economy." i doubt vince would pay attention, but it would be funny.
Guest snowfan Posted October 30, 2002 Report Posted October 30, 2002 Vinny didn't panic at the rating drop, he panicked when he was about 6 months from bankruptcy IIRC....
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted October 30, 2002 Report Posted October 30, 2002 Remember back in 88 when they had the first Clash? And it WHOOPED UPON WM IV? and then in 89 when the greatest 2/3 falls match ever ran aside WMV...and won? Vince, that should have told you. WRESTLING IS WRESTLING. SPORTS ENTERTAINMENT ISNT WRESTLING. This is funny because WM4 featured almost nothing but wrestling (a tournament), and 5 I can't even remember. I don't think your comparisons really work here, especially for what Tino mentioned. Anyway, cue the Kurt Angle music! *DATDATDATDATDATDATDATDAT* Vince Sucks.... Vince Sucks..Vince Sucks... Vince Sucks....
Guest Max Danger Posted October 30, 2002 Report Posted October 30, 2002 You know Vince will just blame the ratings drop on the Dudley/Hardy vs. Jericho/Christian tag match. Their first long match on Raw in awhile, so Vince will just think it took time away from the necrophilia storyline.

SPORTS ENTERTAINMENT ISNT WRESTLING Clash did whoop WM IV, but WM V with the Mega Powers Exploding did better, much better, than Clash '89. Just saying, that's all. Anyways, let's see how low can it go. Will we be seeing the 2s by year's end?
Guest Downhome Posted October 30, 2002 Report Posted October 30, 2002 Hey, I though Mark Mero could have been a huge star if given a f*cking gimmick or angle that was worth a sh*t. Anyhow, that isn't what this topic is about... ...forget this being a "wake up call". If anything comes from it, which I don't think anything will, it will be one of two things... 1) They will become desperate, once again, for the uptenth time in the past two years, and try to change everything, again, for the uptenth time this year. 2) They will try to push this type of stuff even harder, in hopes that it eventually gets over. ...I believe they'll look at the rating and not really give much thought about it, because, it wasn't THAT much of a loss in the first place. Face it, nothing will wake up Vince, period. Our only hope is that the ratings contine to go down, and if the fans truly let him know what they want. Still, that will not be enough either... ...it's never worked up to now... ...someone IN WWE needs to stand up to him, and not just one person. An entire group, as if many voiced their true opinions, then he would almost be forced to do something, sometime, somehow.
Guest Cataclysm911 Posted October 30, 2002 Report Posted October 30, 2002 Vince knows what is going on. It's not like he is in danger of going bankrupt anytime soon. Wrestling just isn't popular right now, it's going to continue to drop.

Wrestling just isn't popular right now, it's going to continue to drop. He's worth less than half of what he used to be. The WWE's PROFITS are going to come out to a mere $2 million for this year, likely. If it weren't for the PTC settlement, they'd already be losing a few million this year. Not quite what WCW was experiencing before AOL had it shut down, but it is moving towards that direction.
Guest subliminal_animal Posted October 31, 2002 Report Posted October 31, 2002 How much of a Friggen Idiot is Vince that it took him this long to see no one likes Raw's lame ass Storylines? Only ones who liked it was him and his suck up, backstabbing, douchebag Daughter. And, of course Triple H since the show was focused on him. I don't see how you can call her a backstabber. Call her slutty instead, maybe.

Yeah, I know that I would have trouble sleeping at night, and start surfing the internet for answers if I only made two million dollars a year...

Dude for a publicly traded company that has more than 4 million shares outstanding this is horrible news. Can you not read that without court settlements Vince would have lost 4 million? Companies that lose money see their stock value diminish, and Vinny's worth is largely tied into those holdings.

Sarcasm aside, if you only made $2 million on over $360 million of equity capital, for a pathetic ROE of .05% (half a percentage point), yes, you'd be pretty upset. When any random internet smark knows better than the head of the company, then things are MAJORLY wrong with the company. This is why the company's stock price continues to tank, despite the big-time rebound in the overall market.
Guest humongous2002 Posted October 31, 2002 Report Posted October 31, 2002 Vince is the new Homer Simpson.......D'uh!!!
