ChrisMWaters 0 Report post Posted October 31, 2002 The following news is derived and re-written from the Torch Newsletter. Bret Hart is said to be more open now than ever before to returning to WWE at some point in his life. Hart has been in regular contact with McMahon since Vince called him to wish him well after he suffered his stroke during a bicycle accident earlier this year. The clips of Bret Hart on WWE television promoting the WWE Anthology CD are part of McMahon's attempt to mend fences with Hart as many say McMahon wouldn't even consider bringing up Hart on his television in the past. Vince sees it as great vindiction for many things he has been accused of doing wrong over the years if Hart would be able to forgive him enough to return to his company. If Bret would make such a move, it would be done mainly because he misses the spotlight and wants to show fans he is doing well physically after his stroke. It's likely that Bret Hart's video library would also be a factor as he has wanted it for a long time now to use in books and videos, and McMahon has promised him it on several occassions to no avail. -------------------------------------------------- Now the question is this: If Bret Hart DID come back, WHAT would his role be for the WWE? Guest Kahran Ramsus Report post Posted October 31, 2002 You see what Ric Flair is doing? It is nothing compared to what would happen to Bret. HHH hates him and he runs the show now.

Guest thebigjig Report post Posted October 31, 2002 If he returns, it'll probably be a one night only type thing like the original plan for WrestleMania last year
Guest Kahran Ramsus Report post Posted October 31, 2002 RAW's the one that would need the ratings boost from him showing up.
ChrisMWaters 0 Report post Posted October 31, 2002 RAW's the one that would need the ratings boost from him showing up. Well, that's a good point. But then again, that would just be another one of Vince's "Quick Fixes"
Guest razazteca Report post Posted October 31, 2002 maybe if we are lucky Bret would come back for a Survivor Series traditional match with Benoit.
ChrisMWaters 0 Report post Posted October 31, 2002 maybe if we are lucky Bret would come back for a Survivor Series traditional match with Benoit. Don't get your hopes up on that one. Last I heard, Bret wasn't even CONSIDERING going out to wrestle ever again. Sad fact, but true.
Guest Big McLargeHuge Report post Posted October 31, 2002 I don't care if he wrestles, cuts a promo, or wipes his ass in the middle of the ring. If he shows, it pretty much becomes the #1 markout moment of all time in the WWE.
Guest The Tino Standard Report post Posted October 31, 2002 Last time I heard, he still couldn't even MOVE half of his body, let alone wrestle. I think it would be pretty damn cool for him to just show up in a WWE ring, tho. That would be a markout moment for sure.
Guest Trivia247 Report post Posted October 31, 2002 well since the guy had a Stroke how well could he even wrestle again, despite the face that the stroke was aggrivated by the Goldberg Concussion he took. Bastagage
Guest RedJed Report post Posted October 31, 2002 The only payoff here would be for Vince to return at Survivor Series (or any other show I guess) in some way and try to cost anyone a match, and Bret returns to beat the hell out of Vince and save the day to make the match "right." Extra points if whatever the event was that this occurs in was in Montreal, of course. MSG would work too though. Otherwise, I don't think I need or want to see Bret back. It's a given he won't wrestle again, although real long term I think it would be cool if this all took awhile to happen and it lead to a Vince-Bret match at Mania 20. Guest Downhome Report post Posted October 31, 2002 I predict a "Tribute To Bret Hart" night sometime on WWE TV, leading to him simply being beaten down by... ...just guess this one. I think this is insanely possible, and could be his only appearance, and for doing it he would be given to use his WWE footage. From this, would begin an angle of someone taking up for Bret Hart, whoeverever it will be's hero. Possibly a Chris Benoit, etc... That is about as far as I see this going, and THAT is the sad, and possibly, true reality of it. I would love nothing more than for him to wrestle, or at least manage someone, but I just do not see that happening, ever.
Guest Jobber of the Week Report post Posted October 31, 2002 I wouldn't see Bret and HHH or Shawn being anywhere near each other, out front or backstage. That's like starting a fire next to a gas tank and hoping that nothing happens.
Guest Just call me Dan Report post Posted October 31, 2002 Bret will never wrestle again, and unless HHH and HBK preach a sermon together that wins him over, he won't be around while shawn tries to recapture his glory and HHH is running the company into the ground. 5 years ago, him seeing that happen would be like being in hell. Now, it is still like being in hell.
Guest godthedog Report post Posted October 31, 2002 as i've said before, i'd mark out like a bitch if bret came back but ONLY if it was a one-time-only, kayfabe-breaking thanks & goodbye to the fans. no triple h, no bischoff & his 3 minutes, NO STORYLINES PERIOD. just bret. all vince would have to do is let him talk for 15 minutes, & there wouldn't be a dry eye in the house. Problem is, we're likely to get a rant about how promoters are evil or something. Bret: *whine* Crowd: *evacuates the building*
Guest FeArHaVoC Report post Posted October 31, 2002 I'm getting sick of seeing "Bret would just Whine." Bret cut that out a while before he even had the Stroke. At the most, he was bashing Goldberg (Understandably) more then Vince. He was trying to let it go and he even said it himself. Even when Shawn Admitted to being in on the "Screw job," Bret Hart didn't make a big deal about it when asked. Hell, I think I remember Bret even defending Shawn a little. He said something like "He wouldn't doubt if Shawn was 'forced' into it." Then a few weeks later he had the stoke. Vince has been the one who hasn't let it go. How much has Bret been Blamed for on Confidential this year? As far as Bret Hart wrestling again, Never happen. He said he never would take the chance Wrestling again even before the Stroke. Thank God for it too! Bret had a Stroke just from falling off his bike. Imagine if someone hit him too hard, or if he took a bad bump in the ring? We could be talking about how Bret "The Hitman" Hart died in the Wrestling Ring today. Only thing Bret did in the ring after Officially retiring was putting Jeff Jarrett in the Sharpshooter on the WWA PPV. Which kicked all types major Ass! Guest oldschoolwrestling Report post Posted October 31, 2002 Bret could come back in the following situations: Guest referee at a big event To screw with Vince To manage the Canadians (Benoit, Storm, Y2J, Edge, Christian, Testicles)
Guest notJames Report post Posted October 31, 2002 Bret could come back in the following situations: Guest referee at a big event To screw with Vince To manage the Canadians (Benoit, Storm, Y2J, Edge, Christian, Testicles) Those scenarios would more than likely necessitate Bret taking a bump. At this stage of his recovery, it's highly unlikely. I also don't think he'd come in as a heel, nor would he take a long-term managing gig. It would be more of a one-shot dealio if it did happen, which I don't think it will.

Guest oldschoolwrestling Report post Posted October 31, 2002 His role would be of a hyprocrite b/c he said he would never wrestle for Vince ever again. I'm sure Stone Cold said the same thing when he left but he'll be back. I'm sure Mick Foley said the same thing and he almost came back last week. Hogan said it and came back. They all go for the paycheck and the spotlight.
Guest Jobber of the Week Report post Posted October 31, 2002 Those scenarios would more than likely necessitate Bret taking a bump. At this stage of his recovery, it's highly unlikely. I think once he's fully recovered he probably could at least do the Sharpshooter, even if it's a bad one. I suspect that the crowd would pop huge for Vince in the SS, even if it looks like crap (think Super Safe Pedigree here)
