Guest Black Tiger Report post Posted November 1, 2002 Has anyone seen any of the Friday the 13th films on DVD? What kind of extras are on them? How good is the picture? I'd only buy the 1st 3 films, after that it turns into each director trying to outdo the last one with more blood and more bodies, and no real interesting plot line. Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted November 1, 2002 For some reason I kinda like #6. Why would you buy 3? For a Jason movie it's above average, but it was released as a 3D movie, and unless you saw it like that the effects jumping out durring the movie are just ugly. The only one I have so far is Jason X...I'll look to get the others soon though.
Guest Lethargic Report post Posted November 1, 2002 Jason 3 is the most important one in my book because that's where Jason really becomes JASON. I haven't watched the DVDs yet so I don't know about picture but if you're looking for extras, Jason X is the only one with any kind of decent extras. Guest Angle-plex Report post Posted November 1, 2002 I like #6 too. I still think they should have stopped after the 4th one though.
Guest Lethargic Report post Posted November 1, 2002 I think they should stop making them when the world ends. Until then keep on.
Guest Nevermortal Report post Posted November 1, 2002 I always liked 8. There's nothing cooler than the boxer inviting Jason to punch him, and when he does, the head comes clean off. Tremendous fucking shit.
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted November 1, 2002 There's no extras on the first 9. I got the original for christmas like a year ago, but haven't watched it yet. I hope there's a rerelease of them all at some point. A box set upon rerelease would be nice to go with my A Nightmare On Elm Street box set.
Guest Lethargic Report post Posted November 1, 2002 I love them all. Except the first one ironically. It's the only series I can think of where the first movie is 100% worse than any of it's sequels. I just don't have time for his mom. Give me Jason. But you gotta watch it before watching the others so I had no choice in buying it. I finally got 7 and 8 on DVD today. So now all I need to do is find 5 and I can have my marathon.
Guest Ravenbomb Report post Posted November 1, 2002 I liked the fourth one the best for some reason.
Guest evenflowDDT Report post Posted November 1, 2002 I hope there's a rerelease of them all at some point. A box set upon rerelease would be nice to go with my A Nightmare On Elm Street box set. Dames said something about a box-set in another thread (at least I think it was Dames). As for special features though, remember that Paramount for the most part still sux0rs when it comes to DVD releases. They're the kind of company that still lists "widescreen transfer" and "chapter stops" as special features.
Guest Lethargic Report post Posted November 1, 2002 The box set is just some thing you can get from Columbia House. It's just all the movies at once. Not like it's in a actual box or anything else special. Speaking of box sets. Has anybody seen those Coffin Joe movies? The first I heard of them was seeing them on Netflix a couple of months ago and now there's this big 50 dollar boxset of them in a big black coffin. Are they really supposed to be that good? Guest evenflowDDT Report post Posted November 1, 2002 I dunno, but they're on my wishlist anyway. The UK Mondo Macabro issue of Awakening of the Beast has more features. I think the box-set is the first time they've been on DVD in Region 1 though, which is what makes it so special. Plus it comes with a replica comic-book (I think) and coffin-shaped box. Guest C.H.U.D. Report post Posted November 2, 2002 The picture quality on the disc for part 1 is good. It's anamorphic widescreen with mono sound (which sounds fine). The only "special feature" is a trailer. I agree with Lethargic, the first one is the worst, and they get better from there.
