Paul Stanley 0 Report post Posted November 5, 2002 I bought it Friday. $9.86 @ K-Mart, Widescreen of course, looks wonderful on my HD TV.
Guest DrTom Report post Posted November 5, 2002 Eh. I'm a huge fan of the movie, which is good, beause this DVD isn't all that. The gag reel sucks, the commentaries are bland, the "Web-i-sodes" are lame (especially the uber-boring "Spider Wrangler" guy). and WHERE are the deleted scenes? That's a good list of features on the back of the box, until you actually sit down and watch them. I think the thing about the comic books were the most interesting features, and that's just because I used to be a comic geek. Basically, buy this one for the movie, not the extras. Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted November 5, 2002 Mine says widescreen, says it on the box and dvd itself...but I watched it today and it was a goddamn fullscreen one! What a crock of shit.

That's like the 5th time I've heard of that happening. Take the shit back!
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted November 5, 2002 Well...I kinda sorta in a way got it from one of those guys who gives great deals, but it's better if you don't ask where he gets his stock. Know what I mean? Otherwise I would.

Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted November 5, 2002 I just may, C.H.U.D., I just may (I hate when people repeat like that in movies) I'll gives it a shot next time.
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted November 5, 2002 I'll be pissed if the box set i just ordered off Amazon has one of these Widescreen box and Fullscreen Disc screwups. I guess i could do the forgot my reciept exchange thing at a local store. Better then trying to send it to Amazon for exchange. I'll just have to do it at Walmart because i'd rather screw them than Best Buy.
Guest Crucifixio Jones Report post Posted November 5, 2002 There's something up with the DVD where the picture automatically fills up your screen when you turn it on making it appear to be the fullscreen version. On your DVD player's menu switch the presentation to "letterbox" or "16:9" (if you have those options) and your widescreen Spidey DVD should play just fine. There's no flaw and it is not fullscreen. As an aside, this DVD is not loaded...they just list a bunch of extras on the back but that second disc is almost not even worth looking at...see Dr. Tom's post. And upon a second viewing this MOVIE isn't that great, either. Just alot of noise, CGI and other special effects. The Green Goblin/Willem Dafoe is a friggin' joke and he looks ghey, not mean or menacing. I was impressed when I saw it for the first time in theaters, but at home I was like, "What was all the hub bub? This is pretty fuckin' average."

Spidey is my favorite superhero and I didn't even like this movie much on DVD.
Guest imajackoff? Report post Posted November 6, 2002 The 2nd disc is pure fluff. It's good for one viewing, that's it. The dvd is still worth the purchase because the film looks great, IMO.
Guest C.H.U.D. Report post Posted November 6, 2002 It's nice to see some other people are realizing that the special features on this DVD aren't that special. As for the movie, my favourite thing about it is J.K. Simmons as Jameson. I could watch an entire movie of him getting angry at people. Classic!
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Report post Posted November 11, 2002 I just realized something cool about the Buy 1 Get 1 Free deal that came in the DVD (and Mr. Deeds) . The Ghostbusters DVD is on the list and it can be counted as the DVD that you buy. I was at Wal Mart and they have the Ghostbusters DVD for 9.96. I think Im going to buy 2 of them so I can get 2 free DVDs, and then sell 1 of them on E Bay to make back some of the money since I really don't need 2 Ghostbusters DVDs (or I could give one to someone for Christmas..I dunno) 2 Ghostbusters DVDs 19.92 + S & H for the free DVDs 5.90 = 25.80 - 9 Bucks or so for 1 Ghostbusters DVD sold on EBay = 16.82 for 3 DVDs (Im planning on trying to get Resident Evil and Black Hawk Down as my #1 choices)
Guest Karnage Report post Posted November 11, 2002 I heard on DVDTalk that Spider-Man will be released again as a Superbit title and then AGAIN as a Superbit Deluxe title...
Guest brokentusk16 Report post Posted November 11, 2002 Not sure if anybody's mentioned this yet, but there's an easter egg on the second disc (special features disc). Go to the DVD ROM section of the comic book extras. highlight the DVD ROM extras and the "selector" icon will take on that of Spider-Man. Hit play/OK and a 2 minute clip of Todd McFarlane talking about drawing Spider-Man's webbing will play.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Report post Posted November 11, 2002 I heard on DVDTalk that Spider-Man will be released again as a Superbit title and then AGAIN as a Superbit Deluxe title... Bah, Superbit is only nice if you have a good setup, but they usually have no special features so I would just stick with what is out now.
Guest Karnage Report post Posted November 11, 2002 They should release a deluxe three disc edition with a lot better features rather than two Superbit ones. Columbia Tristar could have you mail in the current edition or something.
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted November 12, 2002 Well the extras about the actual movie are pretty blah. However the extras about the comic book are pretty good.
