It's hard to really think about who the best champion was because nobody got a chance to do anything with it.  So I'll say Dean Malenko because he;s the best technical wrestler.

I'd say Malenko, simply because the announcers seemed to give a shit about the title during his reign.

What about Gillberg?

Anyways, I'd say Essa Rios or X-Pac. When I saw Essa, I was glad about the title, and X-Pac used to be my favorite wrestler. And there a lot of champions before the tornyment.

Even though the WWF never really ever gave him a chance, Jerry Lynn.

He may not have had the mic skills, but man could he wrestle. His matches with RVD, Tajiri, and even Justin Credible were always entertaining.

I voted for Esse Rios/Papi Chulo/Mr Aguila character since he was the only guy other than the Japanese that the division revolved around.  Too bad the Memphis wrestlers that Lawler brought in did not get much of a push in the division.  Too bad Esse could not be the Rey Jr that the WWF wanted him to be.

X-Pac is the reason the division died!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ever notice that the gimmick that Jerry Lynn had as the champ is the same gimmick that Jericho has now as the Unified Champ.....neither are successful.

Even though Tajiri's one of the lesser wrestlers on the list, his reign could have done so much for the division.

I don't know who to really vote for. None of the WWF Light Heavyweight Title reigns meant anything.

Christian entertains me in the ring, but I feel that his best work has not only come from tag matches, but from gimmick tag matches.

Jerry Lynn put on good matches with good workers, but he doesn't seem to be anything above average when working with someone who isn't a technical genius.

Taijiri put on some good matches in ECW, but I have yet to be entertained by his in ring work in the WWF. That may have something to do with lack of competition.

I hate X-pac.

Dean Malenko is an amazing wrestler, but I feel that his best work came from his WCW days.

I guess that leaves TAKA, whom would be my favorite by default. He can put on entertaining matches, and entertained me in the WWF with his in-ring ability on more than one occasion.

.It wasn't X-Pac's fault. While he was in the running it was on PPV three times.

At King of the Ring 2001 Jeff Hardy defeated him even though he had a three count.

At Invasion it was the lightheavyweight champion vs the cruserweight champion

And at Summerslam 2001 he defeated Tajiri to become the Lightheavyweight champion.

When has any other Lightheavyweight champion had that much sucess?.

That much success...or that much pull?

They convinced him to take the title by saying they would do something with it.

Oh c'mon. They gave the same promise to Malenko, and the title under him only got one show. What about TAKA? Lots of broken promises, but never as much effort behind them as X-Pac.

Memphis wrestlers? When did they bring in Memphis guys?

Brian also you said Tajiri is one the LESSER wrestlers on the list. Was that a typo? Why do not liekl Tajiri?

As for best champ? Essa or Lynn or Dean. Tajiri is awesome, but he NEVER defends the belt.

I'd say TAKA, followed by Dean Malenko. I remember Malenko fighting Crash quite often on Heat at one time, anyone remember when he saved Crash from the Bossman once and they were best buddies for a couple of weeks? Thought you wouldn't.

I love Tajrii. But he's not that great of a wrestler. He does have his moments, but on the list with TAKA Michinoku, Christian, Essa Rios, Dean Malenko, Jerry Lynn, and X-Pac (who was once far above Tajiri's best), it's hard to say he's one of the better on the list.

I remember him tagging with Dean Malenko on Metal once.
