Guest redbaron51 Report post Posted November 2, 2002 Really I want to see it, and hopefully its good as it sounds, and hopefully this makes Adam Sandler more than just a Comedian. Is it any good, and would you recommend it?

Guest godthedog Report post Posted November 3, 2002 if you like paul thomas anderson, go see it now. it's a typical paul thomas anderson that adam sander happens to be in. i'm a huge paul thomas anderson fan, so i loved it. all the trademarks are there: extremely quirky characters who do strange things, flashy long takes, some really gorgeous shots, the inclusion of luiz guzman & philip seymour hoffman, etc. i strongly advise you to only pay attention to the love story (which is golden) & ignore the phone sex subplot (which is really, really...bad). Guest Incandenza Report post Posted November 3, 2002 The phone sex subplot--which would be difficult to ignore, as it takes up a good portion of the film--worked just fine with me. It adds to the bizarre, anything-can-happen nature of the film. The love story is slightly flawed, but I was able to overlook that; even though Watson's character is slightly underwritten, I didn't care. I've always wanted a girl who possesses as many eccentricities as myself.
Guest C.H.U.D. Report post Posted November 3, 2002 I was more interested in the phone sex subplot than the love story myself. As for the film itself, I thought the acting, dialogue and direction were great, but the music was horrible. Some of the music was so annoying I couldn't even concentrate on what was happening on the screen. It nearly ruined the movie for me. Other than that, I liked it, although it's no Boogie Nights. Guest Incandenza Report post Posted November 3, 2002 I loved the music. It adds to the chaos of Barry's life.
