I have to go with The Rock.  He had that shitty reign in early '97, but had a great reign from Dec. '97-Aug. '98.  I liked his fueds he had with Shamrock and Triple H for the titles.  They were good long fueds that elevated the title.  The Rock was developing into the star he is today during that reign.

Not unlike Mark Henry at the '98 Rumble, I am handling the big Johnson in this thread.  Although my Johnson is Duane, and not Ahmed.  Wow, that's quite the stretch for such a lame joke.  I choose you, Rockychu!

Chris Benoit. His title was high during his reign. The problem with Triple H's was it was too hard to get it off of him and Kane's in the main event.

Id have to say Rock as well. In my opinion, he was the last great IC champ till we got the Godfather, Roaddog, Chyna, Albert...etc title reigns. I actually remember feuds during his second reign..which is becoming hard when I can't even remember who the damn champ is today (yeah its regal but i had to be reminded of that and I watch every week)

Definetly the Rock. It did the most for him out of anyone on that list.

Now as for all time. The Rock is far from that. IMO the greatest of all time is none other than Randy Savage. I mean the guy was the BEST damn heel the WWF had then and for a long time after then and he held the title for so damn long. Honky(the record holder) only surpassed him by like 20-40 days.

Just to be different I voted for Jeff Jarrett. In both of his runs he was a credible, over champion who was capable of excellent matches. If the WWF would ever sign him again and then on top of that give him the chance, I think he would make a good WWF champ as well.

Yeah, it was The Rock. I forgot Savage had that long a reign. People forget that. Going on that I would have to pick Savage. BTW, notice the greatest champs had extended reigns? Here's hoping the wwf does this with RVD. He is a perfect candidate since he's over, but could become really over given the right push. He can have entertaining matches as well. I say he wins the I-C title at Mania and loses it next year at Mania. It's funny that 1999 had the most consistent high ratings, but look how it was done. Titles were switching on and off like a switch.

I'd say Benoit. Obviously great matches, and the belt meant something on him, I think. Rock and Owen close for second.

I voted for the Rock.  He was just starting to get in his grove on the mic and in the ring at the time.  But he was pushed as a big star with the belt, to the point where it seemed like a given that he was gonna be World champ, like the Warrior, Savage, and Austin, who never really had a run witht the belt despite winning it twice, due to his neck injury.

I also say The Rock. He had a great run from Dec.-Aug. Jeff Jarrett was pretty good as well.
