Damn. Double-posted this by accident. I'm sure folks'll have more relevant commentary on this movie below.

I thought it was an awesome movie. I think time has taken a little luster of of it (for me), but it's still a fitting movie for the incredible animated series.

Phantasm would have been blown away by the Two-Face movie that Paul Dini had planned to do instead of Phantasm. Paul has gone on record in the past to say that his favorite Batman character is Two-Face and that he would have loved to have done that movie instead of the Phantasm.

I love BTAS and I wish they would keep pumping out more movies. Phantasm, The Mr. Freeze one, and Return of the Joker are all really good and they should make more.

That is all.

I just saw Return of the Joker the other night. It was really good. I have Phantasm somewhere, I just have to find it.

Sub-Zero and the Return of the Joker sucked long and hard.

Sub-Zero was given a pathetic script for Freeze to follow and had too many slow scenes in it that did not serve any purpose but to keep the movie from being under one hour on film.

Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker was *extremely* weak and the only thing that would get me to recommend it is just for the flashback scenes with the Bat Family vs. the Joker and gang. The rest of the movie just drags on and does not leave you guessing for long as to who the Joker really is. The movie could have been eons better than it ended up being and the edited version of the movie makes it even more of a recommendation to avoid. They edit out some of the best action in the entire fucking movie and the ending with Batman and the Joker is anti-climatic.

Both of the movies could have been better had FOX not told Dini to do a BTAS movie on Mr.Freeze while Dini was dying to do his Two-Face movie.

Sass, they did release the unedited version a few months ago. I liked the movie, but I'm a huge mark for Batman cartoons.

Yeah. Isn't it only on DVD at this point? I definitely want to see it, just to see if it truly ups the dramatic effect of the plot later on. I mean, what happens in the original release of it is just chilling at the end of the flashback (though the Batman/Joker conversation in the screening room is some of the best dialogue the two have ever had, in any medium, in my opinion).

I have also seen the unedited version on my first viewing of the movie itself.

The scenes with the Joker and Co. along with the Batman Family at Arkham in the unedited version is the only reason to watch the movie. The edited version is crap because it edit outs parts from the only scene that gives the movie redeeming value.

I imagine so. For me I just watch the whole movie to bookend the flashback scene, pretty much. What is amazing about the flashback, even in the butchered version, is that in itself it could be it's own mini-movie. It has the opening, the climax, and the somewhat satisfying ending. It's like an episode in itself, which I like about it. I bet the unedited version only makes this even more so.

My main problem with ROTJ is the final battle. The sattellite stuff brings some tension to it, but the fight itself just lacks something. I think the original Bats/Joker battle in the flashback is just so great that any other battle to come after in the movie just won't really compare.

I think the final battle lacks because Terry is a pussy. Bruce Wayne didn't need a fancy flying suit (until he was really old in the show at least), he just kicked ass, especially with the Joker. Terry playing mind games was ok, but it could have been better.

The unedited version is only little bit longer, teh Joker's death is the main thing that is altered, the rest is just little edits reinserted. My main complaint is that the commentary was teh original track done before teh hack job on teh disk, so teh guys don't say what was cut becasue it hadn't been cut yet. So teh edited disk actually has a newer track than the unedited one which was released 2 years or so later.

There are times when Warner Bros. is comparable to WWE logic. They aggravate me quite frequently, especially with their DVD's.

I'll definitely check out the undedited ROTJ, though.

The Unedited version of the movie is the superior and more entertaining version.

That does not say a lot but the flashback is worth the price itself.
