Guest SP-1 Report post Posted November 4, 2002 Last year some time, my PS2 fell off of the speaker I foolishly had it sitting on, and landed on it's top. I picked it up and it did fine that night, but the next morning it refused to read DVD's or games anymore. I know it's such a broad thing, but does anyone have any idea what might be wrong with it? What may have come loose or flat out broke in the fall? Any ideas as to what I might be able to do to fix it without having to pay someone to do it? Thanks, SP
Guest cartman Report post Posted November 4, 2002 Funny I thought I was the only moron who put the PS2 on top of my speaker...
Guest SP-1 Report post Posted November 4, 2002 Nope. To this day I'm not sure why I did it, exactly. And I had it standing upright, to boot, so I'm sure that just made the fall even worse. SP, who is an idiot.
Guest I'm That Damn Zzzzz Report post Posted November 4, 2002 My PS1 fell three feet onto a cement floor. I opened it up and upon inspection I found a gear that runs the laser sled was broken. A little super glue and I was back playing in a few hours. If it's out of warranty you could try opening it and see if anything is visibly broken.
Guest SP-1 Report post Posted November 4, 2002 Yeah, it's way out of warranty by now, I believe. I've been a bit frightened to open it up, though, for fear of making it worse. I may do that here in a bit, though. If I can't fix it, I'll have to send it to Sony anyways, so why not. SP
Guest Celtic Jobber Report post Posted November 6, 2002 Last May my 10 year-old nephew turned my GameCube on and off repeatedly when I was at work and it broke my system. I took it back to Wal-Mart and they wouldn't exchange it or give me a refund because the 90-day warranty was up and I couldn't use Nintendo's warranty because I forgot to mail in my registration card. I ended up paying $150 for a new system. Lesson learned? Always send in those registration cards, and never buy a videogame system at Wal-Mart.
