I know Election Day is tomorrow but I thought I'd get a head start.

The Senate is up for grabs with the hottest race being in Minnesota.

In my home state of New York Gov. George Pataki is looking for a third term against Carl McCall.

So I guess put all your election day thoughts and what not in here.

GO PATAKI~!

Bob, are you going to be able to vote, since you're up in Canada now?

Go GOP on Tuesday!

Actually... ::whispers:: I might vote for one Democrat Tuesday, which would be the first time in my life I've done that. In the race for County Executive where I live, the Democrat is in favor of a moratorium on new development, while the Republican wants to maintain the status quo. My county is overdeveloped already, and there's always new construction going on, and I'm tired of it. But before I make a potentially huge mistake by selecting someone with "(D)" beside his name, I'm going to do some research on the other issues.

I was going to run for mayor this term, but I'm going to wait until next time. I think I'll get some pretty good grassroots support. Bringing a strip club to my town is definitely going to be part of my platform, since we don't have one, and there's plenty of places to put it. There's actually an abandoned grocery store right next to the high school that would bring in a killing, if it were one of those juice bar/fully nude establishments. I know if I were a senior there, I'd head right over to it after school. God knows the faculty would like it.

Eh, my district's pretty boring, although there are a few referendums that I'm going to help shoot down...

I'm Canadian, so I figured this would be a good place to ask.

Why do you have elections ever 2 years in the States? Are these simply state elections, and the one in 2000 was federal or what?

Members of the House only serve a 2 year term before they're up for reelection.

Go Coleman

Go Pawlenty

Go Kline

If Kline can win, the Minnesota U.S. Representatives would be 4/4 with one democrat being moderate to conservative on many issues.

Well, both candidates for Governor in Mass. have been acting like children regarding their political ads, but I'm going for Mitt Romney ® because what he did in Salt Lake and I like his plan. Unfortunately, I'm not sure if the Republicans will take control of the legislature.

Besides we already have a female governor, and look how that's worked out.

Actually, there are local elections every year, at least around here. There are county and city offices that go up every year, US senators serve a six-year term and representatives serve a two-year term.

Plus, there are always ballot initiatives.

Posted

yeah there are elections every year, for things regarding your local govt (The College Park Town Council for me)

Then there's the mid term elections. These are for House Reps mostly, but for everything else as well. But they don't nearly get the attention that the ...

presidential elections get.

etc.

Here in the great state of Illinois:

The gubenatorial race is by far the most heated, with nasty ads all over the place. Jim Ryan (Republican, current Attorney General) has been involved with the "Rolando Cruz" trial, which some have tried to pin entirely on him. Basically, Cruz was prosecuted and prosecuted prosecuted, and convicted of murder and sentenced to death. Then, DNA got him freed. So, the Democrats (including Rod Blagojevich, current candidate for governor) are pushing that for all its worth. He even tried to pin George Ryan's (current governor) License for Sale scandal onto Jim Ryan.

Meanwhile, the Republicans are trying to show that Blagojevich is not trustworthy. Apparently, the major newspapers are agreeing. 3 main papers in the Illinois area (Chi. Tribune, Daily Herald, and one down south like the St. Louis something or other) are endorsing Jim Ryan, and that is something considering the traditional left-leaning Tribune is doing so.

The polls are dead even, with Ryan having a slight lead. Blagojevich had the lead for nearly the entire race, but he's recently lost the momentum and advantage he had through allegations of using the "corrupt Chicago machine" to win votes and his non-stop negative ads and comments. It'll be fun tomorrow, even if I'm too young to vote.

Right-o, as mentioned there are elections every year. President is elected every 4 years, state governor ever other 4 years. Senators are elected every 6 years, and 1/3 of the House is elected every 2 years. Plus as mentioned there's always local offices and referendums up for grabs.

I'd go with him because that bitch of an opponent WALKED OUT of a debate. Boo-freakin'-hoo...

In Ohio I voted for Tim Hagan for govorner (D) against incumbent Bob Taft. Mostly cause Hagan's the underdog (Plus if you change one letter in his first name he becomes Tom Hagan, consilergie to the Corleone's and he's married to Kate Mulgrew from Star Trek)

Actually I'm not 18 Dr. Tom so I can't vote anyway. My birthday is in 12 days and apparently they don't make exceptions. (I asked)

The big race in PA is for governor in an ugly race between Mike Fisher [R] and Ed Rendell [D]. You should know who I'm actually voting for based on my sig, though.

I got a campaign call from Ed Rendell yesterday with a recorded message of him saying the same bullshit I've been hearing for months.

Go Ken Krawchuk!

Whew, good thing my vote nixes yours.

Once again, I voted all Republican and shot down some let's-raise-taxes-for-the-children b.s. I was going to vote for this one Democrat (local seat), but he did commercials touting how he went to the same church for 33 years. Sorry, if you're going to pimp religion as a reason to vote for you, I will pick the other guy.

Oh, check this out. I got one word for this: Hahahahahahahahaha...

http://www.local6.com/orlpn/news/stories/n...105-071119.html

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Poll problems have been reported at three polling locations in Central Florida Tuesday, according to Local 6 News.

Local 6 News reported that the scanners were not working at the Gotha Precinct #101 in Orange County, Fla.

Voters were putting their ballots in a box to be hand-counted, according to the report.

The scanners also are not working at the Port St. John precinct #159 in Brevard County or at precinct #116 in Seminole County at the St. Albins Church on State Road 426, according to reports.

We're going to have bigass monorail in Seattle.

You didnt get persuaded into building a monorail by a guy named Lyle Lanley did you, lol..

As for the Elections, I voted Bob Ehrlich for Maryland Governor, which I really didnt want to do, but it was a lesser of two evils, the other Evil being Kathleen Kennedy Townsend. Of course I figure in the end Townsend will win since Maryland is majorly Democrat.

Oh and I bet you were wondering how the Ultimate Warrior felt about politics:

Well, I'm not about to support a guy who committed a federal crime during a debate :P

But seriously, I can't believe that Fisher bitched about Krawchuk ripping up that dollar. Should of just let it die.

I'm a Philly boy, so my vote is going to Rendell. Bout time we get some representation in Harrisburg.
