Late East Coast starts

Recommended Posts

Guest oldschoolwrestling

I live out on the West Coast and when a national sporting event such as Monday Night Football, the World Series or other major events are shown in prime time, that usually means a 5pm or 6pm start. Which means on the East Coast its already 8 or 9pm. How the hell do you stay up til midnight or beyond to watch these events? Do you rarely see the finish or do you just feel like crap the next day? And live events must be even worse. What's it like?

I can't understand how people on the west coast can watch things three hours early.

It makes no sense.

It's all in where you were raised.

Central Time Zone is perfect, 8 PM MNF and Noon Sunday Football. I thought everybody in the West Coast would be stuck in traffic around 5-6 PM. :)

It's the reason why I go to sleep around 1-2 am every night now. You get used to sleeping 4 or so hours a night.

Never underestimate the power of the nap.

I'm just a night owl, I guess. It's almost impossible for me to fall asleep before 1:30, and 2:00 is more typical. I've learned to survive on 5 or so hours of sleep during the week, which is probably why I sleep in like a fiend on weekends.

Years ago I took a trip out to CA, and the strangest feeling was watching all the late baseball games at 6 or 7 p.m. I asked my half-brother, who I was visiting, what they all do when the late games are over (MNF, baseball, etc.)

He replied, "We go get laid."

Fair enough...

East Coast people are remarkable...I really give props to each coast though...but I feel it's better to be central then any other...I stayed in all the time zones of America and Central works the best.

I like the Pacific time zone. Pay per views start at five and are done by eight, and the only chance of any sports running past midnight are in playoff games that go far into extra periods.

One thing I wouldn't like about PT is the fact NFL games would start at 10 a.m.

I like football, but I don't like it enough to wake up that early on a Sunday...

I lived my whole life in Mass, so got used to the EST for all my sports, but when I was in school in Colorado I had to go to the sports bars to watch the Pats games on Sunday... with the 11:00 am start time and rush of Packers fans and Steelers fans taking over the big screens I had to get there before 10:00 to claim a seat and TV. Nothing worse than waking up at 9:00 to ensure enough time to wake-and-bake and get to the bar early enough to watch football ... stupid time change.
