Guest C.H.U.D. Report post Posted November 5, 2002 Some good stuff this week. Band of Brothers Well made and very successful WWII mini-series debuts on TV rather quickly, in widescreen with a few decent extras. Dog Soldiers Already a cult classic, this film is about a platoon of soldiers hunted by a pack of werewolves. The DVD includes a widescreen transfer, trailers and a director's commentary. Hawk the Slayer Classic, cult b-movie about brothers fighting to the death debuts on DVD in widescreen with a trailer. Powerpuff Girls: The Movie Although it was a huge bomb theatrically, this underrated flick should do better on disc, featured in a fully loaded SE. Unfortunately, it's fullscreen. I guess Warner is assuming only kids will want this movie. Warner = dumb. Return to the Blue Lagoon Milla Jovovich droolfest arrives on DVD in a barebones, fullscreen (sigh) release. Spider-Man This actually came out Friday, but I'm sure you already know that. The mega hit film get's an expected 2 disc SE, although the features seemed lacking to me. Still, the transfer is fine, and I think this movie looks better on the small screen anyway. 'Till next week.
Guest Lethargic Report post Posted November 5, 2002 Nothing but a bunch of stuff to add to my Netflix list. Already got Return to the Blue Lagoon at #1. Now you tell me it's fullscreen. I might've bought Powerpuff Girls if that movie hadn't sucked so much damn cock. How they managed to completely ruin the Powerpuff Girls in that movie I'll never understand. One laugh in the entire thing. I hate Spiderman for throwing me off with that friday release. I kept planning it out. Spiderman comes out, then Clones the nex week, then Glenngary Glen Ross the week after that. Instead it's a whole other week until Clones dammit.
Guest evenflowDDT Report post Posted November 5, 2002 Spiderman actually looks BETTER on a small screen? Who woulda thunk it... I was for sure it'd look like crap not on a huge theatre, which is why I didn't buy it. That and the fact that I got dicked trading in some DVDs at Wherehouse and had to pay $30 (but less than it would've cost regular price there) for two DVDs today (Seven Samurai and Scratch). What a boring week for DVD releases. There's gotta be something you forgot that I'd be interested in, right?

Guest pochorenella Report post Posted November 5, 2002 The WWE Global Warning Tour DVD comes out today, too. Maybe you'd be interested in that one.
Guest evenflowDDT Report post Posted November 6, 2002 Hmmmm.... Image's new release of the Filipino horror films Curse of the Vampire and Beast of Blood (strangely listed on Amazon by its US-TV version title Beast of Death) hits stores today as well. I've never seen Filipino horror, but given its legendary status amongst ludicrous low-budget theatre, I'll probably check one out. The sea creature feature Beneath Loch Ness also hits shores, along with a Cradle of Filth video and a 2-disc "Deluxe Edition" of The Grinch. And who can forget Jive Chicken?!
