WARNING ProWrestlingTapes.com

Crap. I was thinking of buying the house show with the Mass Transit incident from them. I guess that possibility has gone down the drain now...

Bad traders are morons.

i have dealt with prowrestlingtapes.com before and understand your disappointment. in fact, 2/3 of the shows i have ordered from them i have had to replace because of disappointing video quality. the same goes for goldenboy tapes. i won an auction from them on ebay where all but two shows were advertised as excellent video quality. it turns out only two shows were excellent vid quality. very disappointing. so far, i have only dealt with two dealers for puro who have made good on their video quality and service...

jeff lynch ... [email protected]

and

tabe... http://www.icehouse.net/tabe/index2.htm

if you want excellent puro, fiind out what shows you want and then go to these two guys. you'll save yourself the hassle of getting burned.

if you want lucha, go to bob barnett... http://www.bobbarnett.com/

in conclusion...

avoid prowrestlingtapes.com

avoid goldenboy

ok, that statement is almost true. i know they only charge $10 per tape after 4 tapes in an order but the catch is that you have to buy the shows given on a particular tape. if i want all japan 1/97, 10/97 and 10/98 (for example), then i have to shell out $30. while there are other shows included on those tapes, what if I don't want those shows? tough shit. i know because i have several useless shows that are combined with a good show from pwt. at the same time, i can get the three shows i want in EXCELLENT quality from tabe or lynch for half the price. and use that other $15 for 6 hours of more quality wrestling.

With most tape sites its often a case of knocking off one VQ rating they advertise (eg. 'Good' is more likely just 'Fair'/'Watchable' etc) but any trader that sells unwatchable/faulty tapes should be named and shamed.

I agree with GoodHelmet and highly recommend Tabe, he's provides excellent customer service as well as having great tapes.

I haven't had a problem with GoldenBoy the two times I've done business with him, the VQ usually matched up and the prices are lower for those tapes with low VQ.

The PWTs situation is frustrating because not only do I not get to watch matches I was looking forward but I thought they(PWTs) seemed to be one of the well known, credible tape dealers.

I will stick with Tabe and another person who isn't really a dealer but who has sold me great Joshi puro with EX VQ everytime, I'll probably try getting a custom comp from Lynch as well.

I also feel I have enough stuff with VG/EX VQ that I'll be getting another VCR and hope to start trading soon.

I guess I've been lucky, because all of the All Japan stuff I've picked up from Socha has looked like a master even if it was a first or second gen. I also received several e-mails informing me of the status of the order and the order was sent first class as a bonus. And I've ordered from them four times and this has been par for the course every time.

Some of the comps have mixed VQ but honestly, anytime you purchase a compilation you're going to have that problem. Socha gets his tapes from Lynch just like Feinstein does, only he charges a small fraction of what RF's evil empire does.

as far as service, i have never really had a problem with prowrestlingtapes either, loss.

my problem is that i have to pat extra to replace shows because they are unwatchable. also, i dont know if you have ever purchased from lynch, or tabe for that matter, but i guarantee you there is a huge difference in quality. like i indicated before, if you can put 6 hours worth of shws that you personally selected from lynch, then you are saving money in the long run PLUS getting much better quality.

here are a small list of the shows i originally purchased from socha but had lynch replace...

all japan vs new japan 2001

j crown 96

1994 jr tag leaugue tourney

dreamslam 1 AND 2

big egg universe

m-pro tv 12/99

all japan super power series 98

all japan new years giant series 97

3/31/96 nagoya commercial tape

and the list goes on and on....

The guy from PWTs(Brian) finally e-mailed me a few days after I put up warnings about them at several sites. He said he's send out a replacement for the 2nd tape but never returned my e-mails regarding the 1st one I had a problem with. I'll wait and see and if the problem gets settled I'll edit my posts, I'll still feel the customer service has been awful but will be content if I receive watchable tapes.

here's the deal though, RC. you shouldn't have to post 300 bad trader warnings before a guy makes good on his part of the deal. if the guy is unreliable then he is unreliable regardless if he makes good months or weeks after the fact.

The only dealers I buy puroresu from are Jeff Lynch, ProWrestlingTapes.com and now Golden Boy Tapes.

I have had only one tape from Lynch that had a problem and he sent a replacement free.

I have had a couple of tapes from Socha that had problems and he sent free replacements, except for two tapes I ordered in September. One was a tape with ARSION Sam TV 9/25/01 & 10/2/01 (Zion 2001) which constantly jumped thoughout. The other was a tape which was supposed to have ARSION Sam TV 10/23/01 & Graffiti 2 on it, but had Sam TV 10/23/01 & Graffiti 1. This was the first time I had multiple problems with Socha. I hope the other 19 Joshi tapes I ordered from him do not have problems. If they do, I will stick with Lynch. I can deal with a jump or a shake now and then, but not constant jumps and shakes or wrong shows.

I am about to watch the two AJW 2002 tapes I ordered from Golden Boy later today.

dude, goldenboy does NOT have good quality and for the $5-$10 you pay per show from goldenboy you could have the same shows in excellent quality from lynch guaranteed. that is what kills me when people are hesitant to deal exclusively with lynch. his quality can't be beat and his prices appear high until you realize how much money you are saving by not having to replace faulty tapes from other dealers.
