Guest oldschoolwrestling Posted November 5, 2002 Report Posted November 5, 2002 The original plan for the Smackdown main event of Survivor Series was to have Hulk Hogan return and challenge Brock Lesnar. Hogan would then job again to Brock to further cement Lesnar's star. However, Hogan refused to come in and job again for Brock, and that left Vince McMahon without a main event for the PPV. Besides the Big Show, there was some talk of putting Chris Benoit in the main event, but McMahon went with his old forumula of pushing big men. In addition, there were the ideas that power moves on Show would be impressive, and that Benoit could be saved for a more thought out program down the line. Credit: Wrestling Observer Newsletter
Guest Anglesault Posted November 5, 2002 Report Posted November 5, 2002 So...THIS is you back up plan? And they ARE planning a Benoit sacrifice, huh? Shit.
Guest FeArHaVoC Posted November 5, 2002 Report Posted November 5, 2002 I just saw this too.... Hulk Hogan continues to sit at home. Hogan had a falling out with WWE over money a few months back and therefore was removed from working the WWE Australia tour despite being advertised as appearing. Hogan has already worked all his contractually obligated dates and has even worked extra dates on a handshake deal with Vince McMahon. Most thought that Hogan would return to WWE TV around the time his new book was coming out (which would be right now) but it appears that won't be the case. While he and WWE have had talks about how to bring him back, no new deal has been reached. Hogan wanted a program with Brock Lesnar where he would come out on top, but WWE was not in favor of that angle. Many feel Hogan won't be back anytime soon, if ever. Credit: 1wrestling.com Hogan wanted to go over Lesnar for the Title.
Guest The Tino Standard Posted November 5, 2002 Report Posted November 5, 2002 If they are just looking for a sacrificial lamb to feed to Lesnar at Survivor Series, I'd much rather it be the worthless Big Show than Benoit. I think it says a lot for what they think of Benoit that they'd rather put him in a program with Lesnar when they can plot it out more rather than just send him to the wolves this month.

So this way it Benoit can be a sacrificial lamb in a feud that lasts several months. Or something.
Guest Kahran Ramsus Posted November 5, 2002 Report Posted November 5, 2002 Sad thing is that the Show/Brock feud is being better booked than the big Elimination Chamber thing on RAW. A throw away feud on Smackdown is better than something the RAW writers have stuffed down our throats. What a surprise, eh?
Guest Anglesault Posted November 5, 2002 Report Posted November 5, 2002 Oh, and by the way, ladies and gents (And Treble Charged) THIS is what happens when you fuck with everyone else and then book yourself into a corner. They are on Raw, but even if you wanted to, Booker/Jericho/RVD have been Hunterized, and Angle and Benoit have made an oh so important TWEENER turn, leaving neither with the heel heat they had. (Of course, I wouldn't want any of them to face Lesnar anyway, but we are really fucked with this match)
Guest BionicRedneck Posted November 5, 2002 Report Posted November 5, 2002 Wow, I guess, due to the success of his last title reign, Hulky thinks his decrepid ass deserves another, eh? Asshole, fuck Hogan... The WWE has made a real balls-up of their promotion this year.
Guest Kotzenjunge Posted November 5, 2002 Report Posted November 5, 2002 Am I a bad person for still liking Hogan as much as when I was a six year old despite knowing all that I know now? I honestly can't help but love the guy. Fo sheez, Kotzenjunge
Guest Brian Posted November 5, 2002 Report Posted November 5, 2002 Benoit and Angle, to a lesser extent, are both being protected in their feuds. Heyman's always been big on Benoit, and now that he has more reign, he can keep Benoit from being buried like that.
Guest TheZsaszHorsemen Posted November 5, 2002 Report Posted November 5, 2002 Oh, and by the way, ladies and gents (And Treble Charged) THIS is what happens when you fuck with everyone else and then book yourself into a corner. Because AS couldn't bitch about that.
Guest Anglesault Posted November 5, 2002 Report Posted November 5, 2002 Yeah, but Angle and Benoit were both mega over heels. Now they get a big mixed reactions. If Heyman realy felt compelled to turn them, why not all the way?
Guest Super Pissed Smark Posted November 5, 2002 Report Posted November 5, 2002 When you say they're being protected, do you mean that they are unlikely to catch a sexually transmitted disease from each other?
Guest TheZsaszHorsemen Posted November 5, 2002 Report Posted November 5, 2002 Yeah, but Angle and Benoit were both mega over heels. Now they get a big mixed reactions. If Heyman realy felt compelled to turn them, why not all the way? 1. Benoit was getting a mixed reaction ANYWAY 2. Heyman really really likes tweeners in his top feuds. 3. Why turn two guys to make another guy look good, then turn the other guy face anyway?
ChrisMWaters Posted November 5, 2002 Report Posted November 5, 2002 Yeah, but Angle and Benoit were both mega over heels. Now they get a big mixed reactions. If Heyman realy felt compelled to turn them, why not all the way? Maybe they want to see which of the two gets cheered more while a tweener to decide which should become a face and which should go back to being heel. Personally, I would like to see Angle as a face again, and Benoit be a heel. Benoit just has a major heel vibe to him, and I liked Face Angle.
Guest Brian Posted November 5, 2002 Report Posted November 5, 2002 They were both getting mixed reactions. Angle was getting pops for most of his big moves and his entrance was getting heat. Benoit was getting decent reactions coming out, usually mixed, and getting more heel heat during his matches.
Guest Anglesault Posted November 5, 2002 Report Posted November 5, 2002 1. Benoit was getting a mixed reaction ANYWAY Yeah, then turn him FULLY FACE. And leave Most over heel in the company, Angle, a heel. It just bother's me that you would turn the most over heel and then not even turn him fully face, which served no purpose other then to totally obliterate the ungodly heel heat he had. 3. Why turn two guys to make another guy look good, then turn the other guy face anyway? I have no idea. That's why i wasn't sure about that being the reason (I just ranted on in) Then again, these are the people who sponateously feel the need to turn their most over heel tweener, so who the fuck knows anymore.

Maybe you or I would turn him face, but Heyman loves Tweeners. I wasn't argueing about how to turn the, I was arguing that Heyman didn't turn them for Brock's benefit. Brock doesn't have that kind of clout yet. 2. The reason is because Heyman likes Tweener feuds.
Guest Anglesault Posted November 5, 2002 Report Posted November 5, 2002 , I was arguing that Heyman didn't turn them for Brock's benefit. Brock doesn't have that kind of clout yet. Oh, know, I wasn't saying that brock is demanding it, I was saying that brock is the only thing they are sticking to in the fucking company, so it only makes sense to make everything perfect for him.
Guest Smark Hammill Posted November 5, 2002 Report Posted November 5, 2002 That's why I hate ECW type stuff AKA shades of gray. I hate tweeners.
Guest Super Pissed Smark Posted November 5, 2002 Report Posted November 5, 2002 Well I'm glad Hogan said no (Show-Lesnar pending fiasco notwithstanding), he's already jobbed once to Brock big-time, even bleeding all over the ring for him. Hogan's only got so many high-profile jobs to give before he just becomes Mr. Loses-all-the-time and his jobbing becomes worthless.
Guest Anglesault Posted November 5, 2002 Report Posted November 5, 2002 That's why I hate ECW type stuff AKA shades of gray. I hate tweeners. I couldn't folloe ECW. I never knew what the fuck was going on, partly because of that.
Guest Brian Posted November 5, 2002 Report Posted November 5, 2002 I like tweeners if they have a strong character than can make them prone to a turn, as a transition between heel and face.

Guest converge241 Posted November 5, 2002 Report Posted November 5, 2002 the choice before Brock-Hogan II was Vince-Hogan

Guest buffybeast Posted November 5, 2002 Report Posted November 5, 2002 On Hogan, I can't blame him for wanting to be jobbed out again. Now what WWF should have proposed that Hogan lose to Brock via a run-in by Vince setting up a Vince-Hogan match at Wrestlemania where Vince loses, Hogan wins and he leaves wrestling permanently.

I liked Angle/Rhyno last year, and Rhyno always impressed me.
