Guest Ace309 Posted November 5, 2002 Report Posted November 5, 2002 IF YOU ARE READING THIS, YOU SHOULD IMMEDIATELY GO OUT AND VOTE! Stop the evil Republicans! Or the evil Democrats! Or the evil Greens! Whatever your preference, remember that today is the day you exercise your right to control what goes on in the country. Every seat in the House of Representatives is up for grabs, and 2/3 of the Senate. Both houses of Congress have a very close margin. In fact, the Senate is EVEN, thanks to Jesse Ventura's appointment of an independent to fill Paul Wellstone's seat. So get the hell out and vote, or it's the bus for you! </Thoth> Non-American writers excused, of course. EDIT: And those under 18. But not people who choose not to register. It's the bus for you, too.
Guest Powerplay Posted November 5, 2002 Report Posted November 5, 2002 Voted Absentee a couple weeks ago. We had a huge discussion on this in my Public Service class, and it was quite interesting.
Guest El Luchadore Magnifico Posted November 5, 2002 Report Posted November 5, 2002 Under 18, unfortunately. But hey, at least my vote will be counted in the next Presidential election...before it's dumped in a swamp... *sigh*
Guest Tod deKindes Posted November 5, 2002 Report Posted November 5, 2002 I vote for Gore!! No Bush!! Is Perot still around? Hell, I'll take Lamar Alexander!!
Guest Ace309 Posted November 5, 2002 Report Posted November 5, 2002 And Tod somehow finds himself on the bus despite being French-Canadian.
Guest CED Ordonez Posted November 5, 2002 Report Posted November 5, 2002 It's the election day today? Crap...*escapes the bus via the emergency exit* -The "No Party Affiliation" Cedman
Guest Thoth Posted November 5, 2002 Report Posted November 5, 2002 I voted Green. You know what? I know they're not going to win. Maybe in a few cases, they will. But I vote for the people that will represent my interests. That's a democracy, the people that represent the majority get voted. But I refuse to compromise my dreams. And, if the Green party gets enough votes, they do qualify for federal funding. So, that's a good thing to shoot for.
Guest AnnieEclectic Posted November 5, 2002 Report Posted November 5, 2002 Yes that is Thoth. And if not green then Dems with me. New Hampshire has no greens running, but lots of libertarians. Ugh. *sigh* Go Dems, take congress and house. please? -Annie
Guest Tod deKindes Posted November 6, 2002 Report Posted November 6, 2002 *jumps out of the bus* Ah- HA!
Guest Ash Ketchum Posted November 6, 2002 Report Posted November 6, 2002 You can't jump out of Thoth's bus... can you?
Guest Thoth Posted November 6, 2002 Report Posted November 6, 2002 You know, I really didn't think about that. I suppose it would have emergency exit windows... so I guess you could.
Guest Kibagami Posted November 6, 2002 Report Posted November 6, 2002 I didn't vote. I was in class. Then I was bored. I helped create the bus. So, like, fuck you guys. Word. S.
Guest redbaron51 Posted November 6, 2002 Report Posted November 6, 2002 your polls are too confusing. Canada is pretty simple
Guest Tyler McClelland Posted November 6, 2002 Report Posted November 6, 2002 BTW, it's 1/3 of the Senate up for grabs, Tom. I voted via absentee ballot last week and none of the candidates I voted for actually won. I hate living in a Rep district.
Guest CED Ordonez Posted November 6, 2002 Report Posted November 6, 2002 You know, I really didn't think about that. I suppose it would have emergency exit windows... so I guess you could. Score! Ced 1, Thoth 1 (for having me on the bus the first time around). Next time weld the exits shut...while I'm far, far away from the bus, of course.
Guest Ace309 Posted November 6, 2002 Report Posted November 6, 2002 Sorry about that, OC. It was a typo.
Guest El Luchadore Magnifico Posted November 6, 2002 Report Posted November 6, 2002 Republicans now have complete control of the Senate, House, and Presidency. ... Well, shit.
Guest Ace309 Posted November 6, 2002 Report Posted November 6, 2002 Republican Governor. Republican House. Republican Senate. Republican President. By extension, Republican Justices on the SCOTUS. I'm going back to bed. I'll see you in two years.
Guest redbaron51 Posted November 6, 2002 Report Posted November 6, 2002 so what does this mean.. America is being runned by Dumbasses?
Guest HVilleThugg Posted November 6, 2002 Report Posted November 6, 2002 Son of a bitch... first rebulican govenor in MD since the 60's...yes, i vote in MD because that's where my liscence says I live. Gotta do it so I can get a break on my car insurance and get in state tuition at UMD. Anyway...goddamn rebulicans won the govenor's race....fuck! We're screwed... ::someone whispers that Kathleen Kennedy Towsend sucked hard balls too:: Oh....still though...it's like a sin against nature ot have a republican govenor in maryland...it's just not right. Silent, we're fucked...very, very fucked. At least you're not screwed when they get rid of affirmative action... Da "why wasn't it this sunny on my birthday?" H
Guest El Luchadore Magnifico Posted November 6, 2002 Report Posted November 6, 2002 The country would have been run by dumbasses regardless, Xero. The Democrats just do a better job of pretending they're not complete morons.
Guest Ace309 Posted November 6, 2002 Report Posted November 6, 2002 The main problem is that the Democrats ran on a platform of "Look! We like Bush, too!" this year.
Guest El Luchadore Magnifico Posted November 6, 2002 Report Posted November 6, 2002 Yeah, and look where it got them. Thanks to their wussy non-action for the past year in an attempt to keep their jobs, many of the Democrats lost AND didn't get anything done. Bipartisan Government makes me sick.
Guest Powerplay Posted November 6, 2002 Report Posted November 6, 2002 Uh Oh. Bush is calling for "Democrats and Republicans to join together." This roughly translates to "Join us or die." in polispeak. Fight back, guys, fight back! Viva la Resisitance!
Guest Tyler McClelland Posted November 6, 2002 Report Posted November 6, 2002 Mark my words, it's gonna start to get ugly on the floors of congress. All that bipartisian shit is gonna go out the door even though it barely matters now that we lost control of the Senate.
