Guest Mr. Slim Citrus Report post Posted November 6, 2002 WTF? I thought the due date was THURSDAY?! SJL Metal Card, Tuesday November 5th Arena: The Generic Dome, in Plainsville, North Anywhere! Guest Insanityman Report post Posted November 6, 2002 Hmmm... let's comment about the show, eh? Anyways, Judge wrote a cool main event and wheee for me. The bra and panties match ruled. Anyhow, shame about the tag match. More comments to come.
Guest Powerplay Report post Posted November 6, 2002 EWR-style comments brought to you by the SJL's own Judge Mental Opening Promo by Judge Mental Bah. Sub-standard IMO. Personally, I hate writing in that damn comp lab since people tend to say "Hey, what the hell are you writing?" a lot, which tends to bother me, but the Microsoft Word on my comp doesn't work. Hopefully that will be fixed by tomorrow, which will certainly make writing much easier for me (Especially since I won't be running up and down stairs whenever I feel the urge to write). Crowd Reaction: 65% Notes: Judge Mental lost overness with this segment. Mike Van Siclen vs. Christian Fury by MVS I dislike squashes, and MVS has had a lot of them lately. Anyways, at an rate, a decent match, albeit short. A Gokuraku clutch powerbomb is certainly an awkward move, and maybe Dace or Ejiro could tell us if it a practical move, but it seems cool enough. BAM-OW-FUCK? Not bad, though I really dislike names like this. I abosolutely love the Van Slamminator; that has style and it rolls off the tongue well. The promo afterwards was good, but still I dislike the name. Match Quality: 55% Crowd Reaction:75% Overall Rating: 65% (Squashes don't do well with me. Sorry.) Notes: MVS gained overness in the segment. Christian Fury lost overness in this segment. Ejiro Fasaki/Jack the Ripper vs. Wildchild/Johnny Dangerous by Ejiro/Jack My personal match of the night. This was easily the best one of all, simply because of the heatwave these guys have generated in the midcard. It sucks that WC got screwed up by King mixing the dates up, but it happens sometimes and I am really sorry for it. Some great heel tactics, though. The help on the half crab is classic, and you guys are really becoming top notch heels. I like how you guys tried not to start every sentence with "Ejiro did this, Jack did that, Johnny was, WC is", which gives the match a fresher feel. I think that you could probably link some of the sentences to make it flow better, but that's all that I can see right now. You followed the traditional tag formula (Face in trouble, heels dominate, hot tag tease, heels dominate, hot tag, face clears house, numerous instances of cheating, heels pick up the cheap victory) to a tee, and it certainly worked well for you. Odd ending though, and it kinda took away from the match. But overall, match of the night! “I think I have to try though. I don’t have a choice. It’s an obsession, really. I can’t help it. Oh sweet Jesus, HELP ME!” That's one of my quotes of the night. I loved that one. Match Quality: 89% Crowd Reaction: 82% (Lowered due to the ending, but the heat is still making me sweat) Overall: 86% Notes: Jack the Ripper/Ejiro Fasaki gained overness. Wildchild/Johnny Dangerous gained overness. The crowd was confused by Ms. Muffin's sudden turn, and she lost overness. Dace Night vs. Logan Well, here is the newcomer, and again, his style is incredibly reminiscent of Danny Williams, and with his incredible knowledge of moves he could be a real great writer in time. Right now, you are very minimalist at the beginning of the match and the entrances. I dunno, but I try to be a little flamyboyant with these things, give some opening banter and analysis (Along with comedy shtick when applicable ). You space everything out a lot, which kinda disrupts the flow of the match. You should cut down on your commentary and maybe do a sequence of moves before putting commentary in. WC had problems with this at first, and look where he is now. Damn, do you put Logan over as a no-seller. Christ, he makes Kane look like Shane McMahon. But it fit well with the character, and props to that. I out of all the people who have fought Logan, you did him the best. Using the table to get out of the pin was a neat spot, as well. I like your character a lot, and you have tons of potential. All I can say is, group things together more, add more detail and take out some commentary. Overall, though, a very good match, though I think that the tag probably should have been higher simply because the whole midcard was involved in that, and it's the best two feuds in the fed in one ring. Match Quality: 80% Crowd Reaction: 55% Overall Rating: 70% Notes: Dace Night gained overness in this match. Logan gained overness in this match. The crowd was really built up from the last match, and this one didn't have much heat behind it, which stiffled the crowd reaction. This is just a booking error, though . Judge Mental vs. Matt Myers by Judge Mental I honestly liked the beginning of my match a lot, and the first half or so of this match was probably my best ever. After that, though, it got pretty uninspired. The run in and the ending were not all that good, and I think that the final part could have been done better. But I think it wasn't too bad. Please, comments and critizisms are very welcome. Match Quality: 75% Crowd Reaction: 85% Overall Rating: 80% Notes: Judge Mental gained overness with this match. Insane Luchadore re-debutted in the SJL. Andy Rickman lost overness (Damn me). Overall Show Rating: 70% We have a killer card for the next show, guys. Show promos! Show interviews! Let's fill these empty spaces up! I think we can do a lot better.
Guest Dace59 Report post Posted November 6, 2002 Jack and Ejiro do some good stuff. It'll be fun to be up against Jack. Nice to see the spy angle is being played out. And that it wouldnt really fit what wrestling fans would expect. Damn nice match too. I need to think of some Brit jokes to crack during the match.
Guest Goodear Report post Posted November 7, 2002 Opening Promo by Judge Mental It wasn't Judge's best stuff as he really was just like "I'll get my title back and I beat everyone"... but what are you going to do? Judge really doesn't do super heely stuff enough if you ask me. Anyway, don't worry about it you can't hit a homerun everytime up to bat. I just think you popped out to shallow center. Mike Van Siclen vs. Christian Fury by MVS A Gokuraku clutch powerbomb is certainly an awkward move, and maybe Dace or Ejiro could tell us if it a practical move, but it seems cool enough. Sure a clutch bomb is possible, I just think MVS needs to set it up differently than just picking a guy up in a Canadian backbreaker and putting it on. Either start off off with the straitjacket powerbomb and allow the guy to slide into the Gokuraku. Or put the Gokuraku on with both guys standing back to back and lift him up and over the shoulder... like Eddie would put on the Gory Special 2000. It's a killer move though. Ejiro Fasaki/Jack the Ripper vs. Wildchild/Johnny Dangerous by Ejiro/Jack I'm sorry Johnny didn't like it... I don't know if thats because he got beaten up most of the match or the Muffin thing. But hey, whatchagonnado? Yeah, it was tag formula, but its I love that formula like I love my mom. Plus, since we have so few tag matches, using the formula is sort of fresh to write. Dace Night vs. Logan Like Judge said, a little less commentary and more details. Other than that, you're coming right along. You managed to put Logan over in defeat and that's always a good thing if you ask me. Beating a guy easily won't help you get better as a writer. Judge Mental vs. Matt Myers by Judge Mental Yeah JM, I think you hit it on the head. The run in and ending were a little weak, since you pretty much just kicked both of their asses and won Come on man, you're the heel and you're the one who is overcoming odds and cleanly winning matches. Totally makes both IL and Myers look pretty bad. Undertaker INDEED! As a sidenote, you work in the "face grabs rope, but will he tap before the five count" thing a lot. And it is a pretty good device to use, but I've never been under the impression that a person tapping in that situation is an actual option during actual wrestling. Guest Dace59 Report post Posted November 7, 2002 I'm the one that said the GokuRaku powerbomb can be done. I've seen it done serveral ways.
Secret Agent 0 Report post Posted November 7, 2002 I liked it Ejiro. I was referring to me writting 3000 words and it ending with a no show. Your match was great, two thumbs up!
Guest Powerplay Report post Posted November 7, 2002 Well, Ejiro, there were some circumstances about why that ending was much more lackluster than I wanted it to be..... but that was my problem. I had something better planned out, but I just thought "Meh, I'll save it." Anyways, thanks for the comments. The opening promo was more of a rush job as some comp lab problems came up (Read: Some damn Econ students monopolized the whole damn lab.), so I eventually had to use my roommate's comp. Guest Mr. Slim Citrus Report post Posted November 7, 2002 Yeah, that would be my fault. It double sucks that in my first-ever no-show, I had to take Agent down with me. If there's any way I can make it up to you, just say the word.
Guest Coffin Surfer Report post Posted November 8, 2002 All i have to say is "Holy Shit, MVS is using Nick Soapdish, and Powerplay compared Dace to me", I didn't think anybody down here even read my matches. Very cool. And while the SWF appears to be on it's deathbed, the SJL seems to be the most alive I've seen it in a long time. Great show, that is all.

If there's any way I can make it up to you, just say the word. Well for one. What did you think of the part i wrote? I thought it was pretty slick myself but thats just me. Also you can make it up to me by winning the number one contendership match, and not jobbing yourself out if you win. I'll be happy as hell to see that.
