Guest benoitrulz4life Report post Posted November 8, 2002 Ozzy Osbourne-"Crazy Train" Rainbow-"Man on the Silver Mountain" Quiet Riot-"Cum on Feel the Noize" Judas Priest-"Painkiller" Iron Maiden-"Hallowed Be thy Name" Lita Ford-"Kiss Me Deadly" Alice Cooper-"Poison" Blue Oyster Cult-"(Don't Fear) The Reaper" Van Halen-"Panama" Twisted Sister-"We're Not Gonna Take It" Soundgarden-"Outshined" Pantera-"Cemetary Gates" Motley Crue-"Kickstart My Heart" Kiss-"Detroit Rock City" Guns N' Roses-"Sweet Child O' Mine" Danzig-"Mother" Alice in Chains-"Would?" I guess this hasn't been done before. Just thought it would be different instead of doing the bands thread, we could just try songs instead. I tried to stretch the term "heavy-metal" to make it more general, so if some of the choices sound strange it's just cuz I wanted some variety.
Guest Nevermortal Report post Posted November 8, 2002 Ozzy Osbourne-"Crazy Train" - Love it...but then again who doesn't like Crazy Train? Quiet Riot-"Cum on Feel the Noize" - Yuck. Iron Maiden-"Hallowed Be thy Name" - Total swankness, in song form. Lita Ford-"Kiss Me Deadly" - Video was better than the song... Blue Oyster Cult-"(Don't Fear) The Reaper" - I likes. BOC is Metal? Van Halen-"Panama" - Never really liked VH. So I'll go with the almighty "Eh." here. Twisted Sister-"We're Not Gonna Take It" - I love Twisted Sister, but they've done better. I can see why this is their most popular song though. Pantera-"Cemetary Gates" - Tremendous stuff; I finally saw the video last week and that kicked ass too! Motley Crue-"Kickstart My Heart" - I only liked one Motley song (Shout at the Devil), not much else. I'll give this the "Eh." too. Kiss-"Detroit Rock City" - Fun song. I'm sure it would mean a lot more to me if I lived in Detroit... Guns N' Roses-"Sweet Child O' Mine" - They've done better. Ok song. Danzig-"Mother" - As a Danzig mark, I'd say this is PDG (pretty damned good). Alice in Chains-"Would?" - My favorite AiC song.
Guest The Metal Maniac Report post Posted November 8, 2002 Ozzy Osbourne-"Crazy Train" I love the inro riff. The rest is just...blah. Rainbow-"Man on the Silver Mountain" I'm downloading it now. Get back to you later. Quiet Riot-"Cum on Feel the Noize" Good every now and again, when I'm in the mood for cheese. Judas Priest-"Painkiller" Awesome drum intro, excellent rest of song. Iron Maiden-"Hallowed Be thy Name" Awesome awesome awesome. Awesome. One of Maiden's best. Lita Ford-"Kiss Me Deadly" Huh? Alice Cooper-"Poison" Haven't heard. Blue Oyster Cult-"(Don't Fear) The Reaper" Good. Van Halen-"Panama" Can't remember what it sounds like. Twisted Sister-"We're Not Gonna Take It" Like Quiet Riot, good in small doses. Soundgarden-"Outshined" Don't listen to the band. Pantera-"Cemetary Gates" Probably one of Pantera's best. Motley Crue-"Kickstart My Heart" Don't listen. Kiss-"Detroit Rock City" Pretty damn good. Guns N' Roses-"Sweet Child O' Mine" Don't listen. Danzig-"Mother" My favourite Danzig song. Alice in Chains-"Would?" Can't remember it.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted November 8, 2002 Ozzy Osbourne-"Crazy Train" -Not as good as his Sabbath work, although Randy Rhoads could rip shit. Rainbow-"Man on the Silver Mountain" -Dio=Sucks in my book, although Ritchie Blackmore can tear it up. Quiet Riot-"Cum on Feel the Noize" -Sucks Judas Priest-"Painkiller" -Sucks Iron Maiden-"Hallowed Be thy Name" -I don't care for it, but it's good for what it is. Lita Ford-"Kiss Me Deadly" -Sucks donkeys. Alice Cooper-"Poison" -Sucks Blue Oyster Cult-"(Don't Fear) The Reaper" -Overrated but catchy Van Halen-"Panama" -I have a soft spot in my heart for Van Halen. Twisted Sister-"We're Not Gonna Take It" -Sucks Soundgarden-"Outshined" -Definitely their best song, sludgy as hell, I dig it. Pantera-"Cemetary Gates" -Not even the best track on that album, let alone Pantera's best, contrary to popular opinion. I like Art of Shredding and the title track much more. There are tracks off of Vulgar that totally blow this away, although I still like it. Motley Crue-"Kickstart My Heart" -Sucks Kiss-"Detroit Rock City" -Catchy but sucks. Guns N' Roses-"Sweet Child O' Mine" -Not bad, but GnR's pretty played out for me. Danzig-"Mother" -I always liked How The Gods Kill more, but it's decent stuff in my book. Alice in Chains-"Would?" -I love AiC. Dirt is by far their best release, and this track is some good shit.
Guest redbaron51 Report post Posted November 8, 2002 Ozzy Osbourne-"Crazy Train" Its a great song, and the solo is just great. Rainbow-"Man on the Silver Mountain" Not familiar with Rainbow. Quiet Riot-"Cum on Feel the Noize" Ew... Judas Priest-"Painkiller" One of their worst songs IMO Iron Maiden-"Hallowed Be thy Name" This is Maidens best song. The eerie beginning, the harmonics, Dickinsons voice. Excellent. Lita Ford-"Kiss Me Deadly" Ew.... Alice Cooper-"Poison" Love Alice Cooper, but I didn't like Poison that much. Blue Oyster Cult-"(Don't Fear) The Reaper" Tremendous work. I have a sticker of their symbol. Van Halen-"Panama" Not VH best song, but its allright. Twisted Sister-"We're Not Gonna Take It" Take it away. Soundgarden-"Outshined" Not big on Soundgarden Pantera-"Cemetary Gates" Solo amazing, video is great, and its got a cool opening riff Motley Crue-"Kickstart My Heart" Ew.... Kiss-"Detroit Rock City" Nothing special Guns N' Roses-"Sweet Child O' Mine" GNR second best song (behind Paradise City) Danzig-"Mother" Not much on Danzig solo career, but I love this song. Alice in Chains-"Would?" Faboulus
Guest converge241 Report post Posted November 8, 2002 Ozzy Osbourne-"Crazy Train" im sick of it but still appreciate that its a "good Song" Rainbow-"Man on the Silver Mountain" - ok Quiet Riot-"Cum on Feel the Noize" - bang your head 10 times better, i like the oasis version Judas Priest-"Painkiller" - CANT.......STOP.........THE...........PAIN....KILLER!! their best song ever Iron Maiden-"Hallowed Be thy Name" -eh Lita Ford-"Kiss Me Deadly" - always hated it Alice Cooper-"Poison" - kinda stupid but i like it Blue Oyster Cult-"(Don't Fear) The Reaper" -classic THE COWBELL! Van Halen-"Panama"- one of their best Twisted Sister-"We're Not Gonna Take It" -ugh, pales to Burn in hell Soundgarden-"Outshined" classic song structure Pantera-"Cemetary Gates" I WILL UNLOCK MY DOORS AND PAS THE CEMETARY ..........GATES *solo* turned me from a Pantera fan to a complete mark when i first saw the video Motley Crue-"Kickstart My Heart" - i hate this song more than any other except for Same Ol Situation, of course you have to hear it live @ every goddamn show Kiss-"Detroit Rock City" one of the good songs, Bosstones version is great Guns N' Roses-"Sweet Child O' Mine" - one of my all time favorite songs ever, was my #1 for years will always to me be about a girl i fell in love with in 6th grade, when it came out Danzig-"Mother" - id dint like it so much the first time and hated it when it reappeared on the radar years later Alice in Chains-"Would?" - good it would be a bonus track if i made a =n AIC compilation
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Report post Posted November 9, 2002 Time for some Laz dissecting... Ozzy Osbourne-"Crazy Train" Good song, classic, and proves why Randy Rhoades was great at guitar (if only for the relative simplicity of the riff itself, and the complexity of the solo). Rainbow-"Man on the Silver Mountain" Dio sucks. Dio sucks. Dio sucks. Dio sucks. Quiet Riot-"Cum on Feel the Noize" "Metal Health (Bang Your Head)" is their best song. This song is just filler. Judas Priest-"Painkiller" I was never actually a Priest fan... Iron Maiden-"Hallowed Be thy Name" All Maiden with Dickinson is good Maiden. Lita Ford-"Kiss Me Deadly" Hope she remembers why she stopped selling records... Alice Cooper-"Poison" Mmmm...Cooper... Blue Oyster Cult-"(Don't Fear) The Reaper" COWBELL~! "Astronomy" owns it, though. Van Halen-"Panama" I've heard it too many times. Fun song, but all old-school Van Halen blends together after awhile. Twisted Sister-"We're Not Gonna Take It" **pumps fist** I dig it. Soundgarden-"Outshined" Never a Soundgarden fan outside of the obligatory digging of "Blackhole Sun." Pantera-"Cemetary Gates" This and "Hollow" are the hands-down best Pantera songs. Motley Crue-"Kickstart My Heart" Laz is a Crue fan. Yes, you read that right: LAZ IS A CRUE FAN. Kiss-"Detroit Rock City" Fun, fun, FUN song. When my band gets together, I'm covering this, "War Machine," and "God Of Thunder." Guns N' Roses-"Sweet Child O' Mine" Tarnished due to Sheryl Crow covering it and totally ignoring the fact that it's about Axl's girlfriend. Danzig-"Mother" All Danzig is good Danzig. Alice in Chains-"Would?" All Alice In Chains is good Alice In Chains.
Guest gangsteruwa Report post Posted November 9, 2002 Ozzy Osbourne-"Crazy Train" Love it, Randy Rhoads is GOD!! Rainbow-"Man on the Silver Mountain" Never heard, and from the reactions here, it doesn't seem like I'm missing anything. Quiet Riot-"Cum on Feel the Noize" I don't like Quiet Riot. Judas Priest-"Painkiller" All of this song I can remember is the chorus, and I liked that. Iron Maiden-"Hallowed Be thy Name" Good shit. Lita Ford-"Kiss Me Deadly" Its good.....for me to poop on. Alice Cooper-"Poison" I'm not an Alice Cooper fan, and I am even less of this song. Blue Oyster Cult-"(Don't Fear) The Reaper" I like it. Van Halen-"Panama" I've heard it a lot, but never really developed an opinion on it. Twisted Sister-"We're Not Gonna Take It" Hahaha. I actually like it. Soundgarden-"Outshined" Fucking Great!!! Pantera-"Cemetary Gates" I love this song. When I saw Pantera at Ozzfest in 2000, they started playing it, then Phil said "We ain't never been about that..." and promptly went into "Fucking Hostile." I was both pissed and really happy at the same time. Motley Crue-"Kickstart My Heart" I fucking hate Motley Crue. Kiss-"Detroit Rock City" See Above and replace Motley Crue with Kiss. Guns N' Roses-"Sweet Child O' Mine" Awesome song, makes me feel good. Danzig-"Mother" I love it, Danzig is such an evil bastard. Alice in Chains-"Would?" One of the most beautifully dark songs ever. Guest The Metal Maniac Report post Posted November 9, 2002 Goddammit, Pantera has to be like, the biggest reverse sell-outs ever... then Phil said "We ain't never been about that..." Then why the FUCK did you write the song? Jesus H. Christ, that pisses me off...
Guest Nevermortal Report post Posted November 9, 2002 I guess Phil just wasn't feeling it...
Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted November 9, 2002 They did that every single time I've seen them live. Fine with me, though. I like their heavier shit better anyway.
Guest Dmann2000 Report post Posted November 9, 2002 Man I must be the only one who likes "Man on the Silver Mountain" I love 70's rock.
Guest goodhelmet Report post Posted November 9, 2002 Ozzy Osbourne-"Crazy Train"- Ozzy rules. Blizzard of Ozz rules. This song still rules Rainbow-"Man on the Silver Mountain"-Both Dio and Rainbow have released better songs than this. Still a song I wouldn't change the station if it came on. Quiet Riot-"Cum on Feel the Noize"- was cool in '83 or whenever it came out. i have heard it way too many times for me to give a shit about it. Judas Priest-"Painkiller"- this is not real judas priest. this is sub-par. Iron Maiden-"Hallowed Be thy Name"- killer maiden song but it's no revalations. Lita Ford-"Kiss Me Deadly"- shitty song but killer 80's slut video! Alice Cooper-"Poison"- an embarassment to alice cooper. he has so many songs from the 70's and early 80's that are mind-blwing in their greatness. ou should have droppd in 'billion dollar babies' or 'steven'. Blue Oyster Cult-"(Don't Fear) The Reaper"- another song i heard way too much when i was growing up. a far superior BCO song is "godzilla" Van Halen-"Panama"- see BCO. sub in "drop dead legs" where "godzilla" appears Twisted Sister-"We're Not Gonna Take It"- i love twisted sister. sue me. Soundgarden-"Outshined"- good song. not their best Pantera-"Cemetary Gates"- eh. Motley Crue-"Kickstart My Heart"- this is not vintage crue. but then again is there such a thing> Kiss-"Detroit Rock City"- not one of my favorite kiss songs. yeah, i sang along during the concert (make that 3 concerts) but if i never heard it again, i wouldn't shed a tear. Guns N' Roses-"Sweet Child O' Mine"- if you were around in '89 when this song was released, you would know that it was played out!!! hell, i have just recentl been able to listen to it again without vomiting. sheryl crow didn't do it any favors either. Danzig-"Mother"- i really don't like danzig or this song. Alice in Chains-"Would?" - AIC rules. this song STILL rules. RIP Staley.
Guest FeArHaVoC Report post Posted November 11, 2002 Ozzy Osbourne-"Crazy Train" Just a Great Rock/Metal song. Classic Rainbow-"Man on the Silver Mountain" Quiet Riot-"Cum on Feel the Noize" Stupid, but catchy 80's Pop/Rock Song Judas Priest-"Painkiller" Killer F'N Drums makes this song good. Iron Maiden-"Hallowed Be thy Name" They've Done A lot better. Lita Ford-"Kiss Me Deadly" Ugh. Alice Cooper-"Poison" I actually like this Song. I remember the Video was kind of Goofy though. Blue Oyster Cult-"(Don't Fear) The Reaper" Good song. These guys are so good and you'll never truly know unless you go see them live. Van Halen-"Panama" One of many great songs from that VH Era. I remember being a kid and always wanting the Jack Daniel's Bass in the video. Shoot, I still want it. Twisted Sister-"We're Not Gonna Take It" See; "Quiet Riot-"Cum on Feel the Noize" Soundgarden-"Outshined" Really good song. One of the only bands I really like from that Era. Pantera-"Cemetary Gates" Great Song! This is the song that turned me on to Pantera when I saw the video on "Headbangers Ball" Motley Crue-"Kickstart My Heart" Pretty good 80's Rock Song. I remember them opening up the show with this song on the "Dr. Feelgood" tour. Kiss-"Detroit Rock City" Just another Catchy KISS song. Guns N' Roses-"Sweet Child O' Mine" The one and only song I hate off of "Appetite for Destruction" Danzig-"Mother" Never liked these guys. Alice in Chains-"Would?" Never liked it. They've done better.
