Eddy looked Sloppy Tonight

Recommended Posts

Guest TheZsaszHorsemen

Why some people are bitching about this match, I don't know. It was a standard formula for Cowardly heel vs. powerful face: 1. Face DEMOLISHES heel 2. Heel cheats like a madman to keep up 3. Face pulls it out. Brock sold all the forearms and punches crisply and very believably (something unheardof for a man his size) On the other hand I thought Eddy was sloppier tonight than usual. Don't get me wrong, he wasn't BAD per se. Just not what I've come to expect from one of the holy trinty.

You had to love the way Brock sold the leg before the pin and after the match, even while he was walking up the ramp. Hosses just don't do that kind of stuff.

Brock selling more during the match would have been nice, but I was very pleasantly surprised at the amount--and calibre--of the selling that he did do. It wasn't just useless transitory selling either.

I can't wait for the day that Brock wins over all our hearts and become a smark darling :D

Yeah, he sold it from the time he did the F5 till the time Show tossed him two, I mean TEN feet to the ground.

Brock converted me when he stole Rocky's "face" at SummerSlam. :D

I just don't understand why they would want to bury Eddie Guerrero - the best worker on Smackdown (THE BEST WORKER ON SMACKDOWN!). Eddie could have really given Brock a damn good match if they let him, they could have built it up for like 2 or 3 weeks which would be a nice lil elevation for Guerrero (who normally doesn't get title matches). But this glorified squash just totally eliminated the chance of a rematch since we all know Eddie would never have a chance in winning.

Dude, Chavo's interferance leaves a feud between Brock and Eddy WIDE OPEN. Brock didn't certainly beat Guerrero clean, so it's not really burying Guerrero, as you may think

Yeah, because the first half of the match where Brock shrugged off Eddies offense didn't bury him at all. Besides, it was played off as Brock beating both Eddie and Chavo.

I liked the match quite a bit.

I don't think Eddy looked sloppy...if anything, Brock looked stiff and unflexible in parts.

But even if all the spots didn't look perfect, the match came together nicely. I'd say it was Brock's best TV match to date.

No way.

This match was better.

Probably because in my mind was actually a tiny, outside chance that Eddy could win given that Chavo was there, and there was the possibility of a Big Show run-in.

Plus the match was better because unlike Bubba, Eddy doesn't...you know...completely suck.

Not that I am comparing Bubba to Eddie, but Bubbas match with Brock WAS better. It was given more time, was stiffer, and had a longer lasting impression on me that this did.

I sorta liked his match with Eddie tonight but it shouldn't have been the main event. These two have never wrestled each other before so rematches might be better.

Anyone else note Brock's priceless ranting at Eddie: "Come on esse! Come on holmes!" That cracked me up.

Eddie was the man tonight in his skits and things, as usual.

Eddie:  "Come on esse!  Come on holmes!"  That cracked me up.

Yeah, I LOVED that! That totally f*cking ruled.

I didn't hear him say c'mon homes, but I did hear him say c'mon esse--not once, but twice! I thought I was hearing things the first time.

Brock talks smack, but unlike everybody else he appears to be the only guy with anything interesting to say B-) Sure beats freakin' Big Show's random grunts and squinchy faces

everyone has the capability to Improve. Brock's character is pretty basic, he is a Monster Hoss that does Power moves, its not a hard script to follow. Im surprised that the Crowd is now reacting to him better. I guess anyone will get pops if they face the Big Show.

I wouldn't be surprised if Eddie gets his shot at Brock at a PPV before Wrestlemania - if they are going with face Lesnar/heel Angle and 'mania, then it makes sense to have him go over Eddie and Benoit in the lead up.

I went out for the match. Eddie being a hesitant complainer when he got a shot at Brock, he wasnt anticipating a fun time against a guy that has a size advantage.. specially not when the title isnt even at stake.

Eddie busting down like this only proves that his has the endless supply of Latino Heat.

Seemed to be a decent little match, but I can't help but think I would've enjoyed it a lot more if I actually thought Eddie had even the slimmest chance in hell of actually winning it.

The funniest part was when they suddenly cut to a close-up of Brock's face and he did this sort of angry, squinty-thing before his mini-hulkup and the finish. Sort of a Sergio Leone meets Popeye meets Mr. Nanny kind of thing, and the fake crowd noise going wild when he did it would seem to indicate we'll see more of it in the future. Oy.

I've been defending Brock, but I thought the match with Eddie was Crap. Eddie sold and bumped like a million bucks, but that was because Brock wasn't giving him shit during 3/4 of the match. You could see Eddie getting close to him and either giving calls or Spots or telling Brock to lay off, and Brock ignored both.

I don't know, No selling pisses me off. Hoss or not.

Brock is much bigger than Eddy and his character is the monster face and eddy is a sneaky heel. For him to go 50/50 with Eddy in the match doesn't make any sense at all. I think the match was right how it should be.

If you want to see BAD big guy little guy match that makes little guy look like a tool, one was on earlier in the night between matt and show.

Eddie only looked sloppy tonight? He's been getting sloppier ever since he returned IMO.

Eddy bumped Ok, but his moves did not look crisp at all. I thought Chavo looked very, very, good and I think he's due for a character of his won instead of being Eddy's little buddy.

Oh and the crowd reaction was real. I've been to two SD! tapings and they TV tapings are comperable they've been blurring out face pops all last month to make UT feel batter.

You're kidding, right?

There has to be some sorta reason for this Eddie bashing. I guess no one can be universally praised, there will always be those who want to knock the mighty off their pedistal.

And Eddie looked worse than Brock? Explain how and where? Eddie was a rag doll the whole match. He credibly sold all of Brock's moves and made it a watachable squash. What else do you want from the guy? Eddie did great with what was given to him.

If given 10 more minutes, Eddie could have formulated some sort of offense and made Brock look like a million bucks. But like many WWE workers, they aren't allowed to work their usual style and are forced to conform to the "Sports Entertainment Style".

Well for Eddy's selling (and it was very good) to mean anything, you have to have crisp, solid offense from Lesnar. I think Lesnar delivered very well, he even pulled out an innovative submission move, and sold his knee like the Lasso from El Paso was actually a threat to him.

My problem with Eddy was that his forearms, dropkicks, and his offense in general seem sloppier tonight than usual. I think Scott Keith is a retard for saying Eddy "carried" this match when anyone who can take good bumps and sell getting an ass-kicking could have done just as well.

I didn't notice Eddy wrestling sloppy Smackdown. He just wasn't working that well with Lesnar, which is to be expected since they haven't had a match together yet and they have such a contrast in styles.

Brock seemed to be working quite well last night and if Smackdown was a test for Brock as a face, I think he will do well once his turn is completed.

BTW Kurt and Benoit are both better workers on Smackdown than Eddy.

I think Scott Keith is a retard for having a different opinion than me.

Oh what a surprise. Stop reading his work then.

Yea, Eddie backlash rules.

To compliment Lesnar over Guerrero is downright ignorance. Eddie didn't have a chance to get any offense in, so how can you say it was sloppy? Eddie went out their and did his job. He was the jabroni, and Lesnar was getting the offense. What else could he do?

Ever think I might actually just fucking hate Eddie Guerrero as much as some people hate HHH or Hogan or Chyna? I'm not hating Eddie to be cool or rebellious I just can't stand his 5 star promos which are actually just bitter Mexican rants riddled with the two same words, esse and holmes. I think he's been sloppier since he returned. Who knows he still might be a drunk and he probably gets cocked before his matches which makes his offense sloppier than it used to be. Chill out BDub before people think you're Anglesault with a new agenda.

Do you expect anyone to take you serious after saying this? Give me a break. I understand you may just be trying to get under my skin, so you are right, Eddie is a useless drunk.

Remember this, hating a wrestler and saying he sucks are completely different. I like Faarooq but I wouldn't say he is a good wrestler, likewise, I hate Edge but I wouldn't say he is a bad wrestler.

But Gheyme, I don't expect better from you. Keep this up, you'll get banned from here as well.

EDDIE OWNS YOU.

I'd call Eddies work 'natural', not sloppy. Which is the complete opposite of Lance Storms' business exposing "I gotta be the best worker I can be" crap. Eddie's style gets good matches - I ain't complainin.

I hate him AND think he's not that great of a worker anymore. I don't care if you like my opinion or not. Oh yeah, I thought I told you I'm not banned anywhere.

Now you're a damn liar, cause as little as I go to WDI I know for a fact you were banned from there at least twice.
