Vice City Hints, Tips (not cheats) etc.

Recommended Posts

Guest Brush with Greatness

I figured I would start a thread just for hints, tips, etc. No, not just cheat codes but actual tips and stuff. I hate having to drive halfway across the city sometimes to get the free kevlar vests when there may be one closer by.

I was curious as to what buildings everyone has bought and if they have been good buys or not.

I would recommend buying the film studio as it opens up some mission possibilities. Also would recommend buying the docks or whatever. It opens up some missions as well. Although I can't figure out how to store my own boats there are always boats there. The Ice Cream factory sucks. Don't buy it. Strip Club never did anything for me either although I hear there is a way to get it to open missions.

I also bought the building across from Rosenbergs (useless, imo) the Ocean Heights apartment (had a garage but fairly useless), the El Swanko Casa (looks cool and has a garage) and the Hyman Condo (fairly useless).

How bout some weapons tips? There is a kevlar vest behind the "Greasy Chopper". There is also one by the entrance way of the big building kitty-corner from the Malibu Club. There is a shotgun by the last bench up the side of Washington Beach, there is a standard gun in the bush by Cortez. There is a Ruger in the bush by Auntie Poulets. There is also a ruger in the "moon landing" set on the film studio. Theres a good automatic weapon to the east of Howlin Pete's Emporium. I'm sure there are a few more I'm forgetting about.

How about the assasinations or the store robberies? Has anyone finished all them. I am on the Airport mission on the assinations. With the stores I had about 3 left before I restarted my game.

Hyman Condo (fairly useless).

Three garages, a police bribe, and a helicopter on the roof does not equal useless in my book.

I've bought all the standard non-profit turning properties, whether they contain garages, helipads or nothing.

Hyman condo was the first property I purchased and I would highly recommend that be someone's first purchase as well.

The Pole Position and Cherry Poppers both turn out decent money for me after unlocking their assets. I also get a small daily chunk for completing the first set of car collections for Sunshine Autos, as well as the Deluxo :headbang: I actually 'hq' myself out of the dealership right now. 4 garages and a pay n spray.

I'm getting the film studio next.

I just got the game today and instead of me trying to figure it out myself, how do you buy buildings?

Heres a tip..

I found myself making lots of cash being a firefighter. I made $6500 in like 15 minutes.

And I found out how to buy buildings. It was easy.

I never bothered to explore the Hyman condo. The Helipad makes it cool I guess. It's not like the police bribe isn't just there anyways though. And how many garages do you really need?

As for the film studio after getting used to the controls of the plane and finishing the dildo dodo mission the next two missions are very cool and unique.

Yeah, I also bought the used car place before. It was good to have the pay and spray there. I'm not a big fan of those race type missions though.

Is there some sort of secret to turn the pole position into a money maker? I figure with cherry poppers I would've to get to a certain amount of sales with the truck followed by some other missions, but I have no patience to drive that truck around.

A funny thing happened at the Pole Position though. I went in (as the owner mind you) and beat the shit out of the fat stripper at the far table to let her know her services were no longer required. Then the security guys come after me. Hello guys? I'm the boss here. Dammit, I want to know how to get the pole position to pay off? Then I can have more porn and strip bar rackets.

I'm tempted to buy the printing press. Anyone try that out yet?

A small tip..

If your looking for fast cash golfers, gang members, and the black lady in the red dress near the mall always have good amounts of cash.

Small spoiler

On the mission where you have to save Lance, if you fail and he dies, there should still be lots of money on the ground from dead gang members. On a usual failed attempt, I'd pull in 1,000-1,500.

****SPOILERS****

On the mission where you have to go to the mall and shoot out all of the windows, is there some sort of trick to it. I always end up at the mall with about 3:45 left to do it, but have trouble getting to all the windows. I was thinking maybe if I shoot at the windows at a certain angle, it will take out all the windows on one store. Someone earlier said you have to think on this mission. Well instead of that, I am asking for the perfect way to do this mission......help~!

Take care of your dancers and before you know it you're making in the area of 4k a day from the place.

You're pretty close about Cherry Poppers. It doesn't take that long to accomplish. Just deal near a pay n spray and don't get out of the truck.

Once again, jump on a motorcycle, you can drive them into the mall. Makes things SO much easier.

I'm on the "Dildo Dido" mission now. At least this plane can fly more than 3 feet off the ground for 3 seconds, unlike some OTHER Dido's in ANOTHER game.

Newp.

Good idea. I think you'll really have to keep wheeling around to keep from getting busted too easily. I loathe how easy it is for an out-of-screen pig to come up and knock you off your newly acquired bike before you get off and running.

Ok well I beat that mission finally. After I did it, I couldn't believe I just didn't take the extra second or two to use this stratedgy earlier.

Ok, I'm currently working on the first list you get once you buy The Showroom. I've found every car but that god damned Esperanto... does anyone know where those things are commonly found? I've spent two hours combing the city and I didn't find a single stupid Esperanto...

Hehehe good luck. I swear to you this game will cheat you when you start doing the garage lists. Usually when you're on the last car or two for each set. The last thing I needed to complete the entire set was the golf cart. Simple enough right? I tell you I must've walked that entire golf course three times before one finally spawned. I'm glad I did them all though. I love my Deluxo so much.

All right, I can't stand it anymore.

Exactly HOW to you make the Pole Position Club worth a damn?

Go into the backroom where you get the private dance. Look at your cash dwindle in increments of 5 to 20$. Put the controller down and let Tommy spend 600$ or more I think the number is. Then exit and you should have unlocked the assets for Pole Position as well as another back room.

Oh on an aside. Screw Mitch Baker and his damn biker gang. Let him get his own damn bike back. God I hated his missions.
