I understand that, without Shaq, Kobe is surrounded by average talent. And I can see where he may have allowed himself to get into a little contest with Paul Pierce or Antoine Walker--or both.

 

But did he have to shoot so much? I'm wondering if this is something that Kobe is gonna keep doing when Shaq comes back. I know Kobe's all sprung off himself for putting on 15 pounds of muscle in the summer, but ball-hogging ain't gonna win the Lakers many games.

I think you can write everything off till Shaq gets back, after that they'll coast through the season.

 

I don't follow much basketball anymore, but I'd like to see Dallas or Detroit win this year, yeah yeah, I know it's not gonna happen.

Kobe is a team player, he does what he has to do to win or in this game's case lose the game. I watched this game and at half time the Celtics had a 15 point lead......the Lakers lost by 2 at the end when Kobe missed the final shot.

 

Phil Jackson is a Zen master and knows what he is doing, so don't worry about the potential conflict that could happen when Shaq returns. Kobe made 2 Triple Doubles in back-to-back games with 12 assist in each game, that shows that Kobe is a team player, it just depends on who wants to help Kobe win the game.

Had he hit 50% of his FG and his 7-7 FT, he could have had 55 pts (or more if there were some 3 pointers.. of which he went 0-8..)

ESPN showed a graphic that said Kobe's FG attempts were the third-most in Lakers history. Elgin Baylor shot the ball 55 and 49 times on separate occasions. But here's the catch: Baylor scored 63 and 57 points on those nights. Kobe only had 41.

Granted if he had hit 3 or 4 of his 8 3 pointers he would have had 50 pts, but if you're cold from 3 pt range (miss first 3 or 4 shots) why keep shooting 3's?

I'm surprised he only went to the line 7 times. That tells me he was taking a ton of jumpers and not attacking the basket. I remember when Jordan would score 40-50 points, like 15 would be from the line.

Kobe has had the assists, so he's not always ball hogging like he did last night.

When they go off for huge amounts of points, it's usually just because they shot an ungodly amount of shots and only made about 35 to 40% of them.

 

It also kinda proved who the real leader of that team is. Without Kobe and with Shaq, they'd still get quite a few wins. Other way around? They're the Clippers.
