Guest FeArHaVoC Report post Posted November 8, 2002 There was some Serious "Hair Band" robbery on this list.
Guest The Amazing Rando Report post Posted November 8, 2002 why did Guns N Roses beat out Boyz II Men... why didn't "I'll Make Love To You" get into the top 15 or so.... that's THE definitive baby factory song...
Guest Smark Hammill Report post Posted November 8, 2002 I'm indifferent about this list other than "Wonderful Tonight" is way underrated, and that HORRID Aerosmith song from Armageddon should not be on there.
Guest benoitrulz4life Report post Posted November 8, 2002 "Wonderful Tonight" and "Everything I Do (I Do It for You)" are way lower than they should be. I also like "Always" more than "I'll Be There for You." "Bed of Roses" is better as well. "Whole Lotta Love"? That's for like a sweaty fuckin' a roadie song than a "love" song.
Guest FeArHaVoC Report post Posted November 8, 2002 that HORRID Aerosmith song from Armageddon should not be on there. Why? That song was #1 on the charts for something like 6 weeks. It more then deserves to be there!
Guest hardyz1 Report post Posted November 8, 2002 Aerosmith's "Angel" is better than the Armageddon song.
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted November 8, 2002 Chirst, must VH1 have a top 100 list for everything. I Don't Want to Miss a Thing completly sucks. I think Houstin's should be #1 simply cause she didn't write it...and for a love song doesn't it really mean less when the writer who first expressed the words, and wrote them isn't singing it. Alison at #91...I see we're not voting on how good the song really is THough I'm a little suprised they didn't fill the 10 up with Madonna songs, since they're so far up her ass. Guest ant_7000 Report post Posted November 8, 2002 What no Temptations songs or "Still in love" by Al Green? thats bullshit.
Guest Smark Hammill Report post Posted November 8, 2002 What no Temptations songs or "Still in love" by Al Green? thats bullshit. There should DEFINITELY be more Motown on this list. Oh, well.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted November 8, 2002 Let's Get it on is always #1 in my book...
Guest Smark Hammill Report post Posted November 8, 2002 I looked back over this list, and found a couple more that should not be on the list, let alone be rated as high as they are. Believe me when I say "Woman" by John Lennon is one of my five least favorite songs in the whole world. Ugghh..... I love Led Zeppelin, but "Whole Lotta Love" just doesn't say "love song" to me.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted November 8, 2002 I think they were struggling to think of "LOVE" songs...Why not just tap into Country area....gotta be shitloads of Love songs about their Dogs and pickups.
Guest redbaron51 Report post Posted November 8, 2002 seeing Whitesnake, Def Leppard, Meatloaf on there was nice. and Beth was way too fuckin high....its Kiss best song.
Guest Phr33k Report post Posted November 8, 2002 It's good to see "How Deep Is Your Love" on the list, as the Bee Gees are often way overlooked on these things. I'd consider them to be only second to Lennon/McCartney in songwriting skills. Also, there are probably 4 songs on "Still Waters" alone that could blow anything on that list out of the water in terms of pure sap.
Guest converge241 Report post Posted November 8, 2002 nurse, need Afghan wigs STAT! I would like to say that faithfully owns (in a cheesy kinda way)
Guest Lord of The Curry Report post Posted November 9, 2002 Journey shoulda been #1........fuckin Whitney Houston crackhead ho'.....
Guest DrTom Report post Posted November 9, 2002 I can't believe that Whitney Houston's most blatant example of horrific oversinging made it to #1 on this list. Actually, I can believe it, and I think that sickens me more.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted November 9, 2002 Man, there's something I'm gonna skip. There's exactly three songs on that entire countdown that I don't utterly despise. I'm shocked; nay, shocked and APPALLED, that Fishfuck by GWAR was not included in this. Not to mention half of Anal Cunt's work. If that doesn't say love, I don't know what does. Guest redbaron51 Report post Posted November 9, 2002 For the love of god by Steve Vai didn't make it on their..... bastards.... well at least its more resonable, imagine what MTV would be like.
Guest spiny norman Report post Posted November 10, 2002 Where on Earth was Something? Frank Sinatra proclaimed that as the greatest love song of all time, and it's not on the list!? Actually, is any Beatles on the list? Oh, btw, Youth N Asia, lay off Madonna, or die a horrible death, painful
Guest Dmann2000 Report post Posted November 17, 2002 They probably couldn't get rights to play Beatles songs, so they excluded them BASTARDS
Guest godthedog Report post Posted November 17, 2002 no, that can't be it. they did a '100 greatest rock songs' list & the beatles had the most tracks on the list.
Guest Incandenza Report post Posted November 17, 2002 What about Tom Waits' "Christmas Card from a Hooker in Minneapolis?" What about that, huh?
Guest Kinetic Report post Posted November 18, 2002 I was shaking my head at the exclusion of "Something" as well. Then again, it's a fucking VH1 list and they're notorious for knowing absolutely nothing about anything. I mean, "I Will Always Love You"? Come on. I'm a sucker for a good love song, too, and this list is just misguided and ridiculous. However, they did put the unbelievably awesome "Nothing Compares 2 U" in the top 20, so it's not all wrong. Guest Incandenza Report post Posted November 18, 2002 And what about the Magnetic Fields? They wrote 69 of the goddamn things! Surely one of them should've made the list! EDIT: Nice title, Kinetic.
Guest Kinetic Report post Posted November 18, 2002 That's a great enough line that I felt compelled to steal it. I'd imagine that the Magnetic Fields' exclusion is just a result of no one who's affiliated with VH1 having ever heard of them. Some of the best love songs of the last twenty years have come out of indie rock and they'll all be ignored by these corporate lists. I should really compile lists to counteract those of VH1. I might actually contribute something to the site in that way.
Guest Incandenza Report post Posted November 18, 2002 I prefer "a pretty girl is like a minstrel show," myself, but I could go on all night about great lines off of 69 Love Songs.
Guest spiny norman Report post Posted November 18, 2002 The more I think about it, the more confused I am. They exclude Beatles stuff, yet Maybe I'm Amazed is five (not complaining about it being there, but why is McCartney constituted but not Beatles)? Also, Unchained Melody is almost always considered the greatest love song ever. It's not even on the list! This list is stuffed!!!!!!!!!! Except Nothing Compares 2 U
Guest Kinetic Report post Posted November 18, 2002 Exactly. I don't give a fuck about anything else Sinead O'Connor ever recorded, but that's a truly fantastic song. I'd say it's probably the best-written love song single of the 90s, off the top of my head.
