Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted November 9, 2002 Report Posted November 9, 2002 Awesome. Thanks. I'll never go to the movies again!
Guest Flyboy Posted November 9, 2002 Report Posted November 9, 2002 I hardly do. EDIT: Unless it's with my ex. I enjoyed The Ring in the comfort of my own room.. Red Dragon, too. Sometimes the quality is so good on the movies that they can be converted to .AVDs and burnt on CDs to be played in DVDs. I haven't quite got that part down yet.
Guest Flyboy Posted November 9, 2002 Report Posted November 9, 2002 Just as I thought... a fake movie. Anyhow, I hoped that solved your problem. And when it is finally able to download I'll let you know on e-mail, PM, or something.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Posted November 9, 2002 Report Posted November 9, 2002 Our local newspaper has an article comparing Eminem to Prince and Elvis in their abilities to act and sing. I can see Prince..but comparing Eminem to Elvis on any level is just crossing the line..
Guest Flyboy Posted November 9, 2002 Report Posted November 9, 2002 How so? Eminem and Elvis both used black music to get to the top. I can see them easily.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Posted November 9, 2002 Report Posted November 9, 2002 How many movies was Elvis in? 31 How many #1 hits did Elvis have? 18 When Eminem comes close to either of these numbers, there might be an argument.. More Elvis Movie #s Average number of songs in each movie: 7 Number of Elvis’ movie soundtracks that went to the top 10: 11 Number of Soundtracks that reached #1: 4
Guest Choken One Posted November 9, 2002 Report Posted November 9, 2002 I believe they were making a legit contrast between Elvis and Eminem. Each stood out because they did things differently and they weren't respected by society but the kids loved them. Besides, Elvis had to start with ONE movie at one point as well. Eminem already has 4 #1 albums and 4 #1 singles... Is Eminem at Elvis level? Not yet but remember that Elvis was considered a fad when he boomed.
Guest EMAXSAUN Posted November 9, 2002 Report Posted November 9, 2002 yeah i tried to download that too and all i got was a 300 mb blank file, dont bother
Guest Flyboy Posted November 9, 2002 Report Posted November 9, 2002 yeah i tried to download that too and all i got was a 300 mb blank file, dont bother Yeah. mIRC has it, but I don't know how to use mIRC that well... so I have to wait until someone with the movie finally decides to put it on Kazaa.
Guest HollywoodSpikeJenkins Posted November 9, 2002 Report Posted November 9, 2002 call him what you will but you hafta admit the guy has talent in both Acting AND music. No, I don't. Because Eminem sucks. In the music scene atleast. If this movie wins an Academy Award or whatever, I'll just blame it on Brittney Murphey and Kim Basinger. God, after reading this thread, it is basically Anti-Star Trek Eminem Marks trying to get Eminem-is-a-loser-but-I-like-his-music people to go see the movie. Eminem sucks so bad, that if his daughter was older, I would impregnate her, and leave her to daddy. NOW BLAME YOUR DAD AND CRY ABOUT YOUR MOM WITH THAT MARSHALL
Guest Dmann2000 Posted November 9, 2002 Report Posted November 9, 2002 ... but it would mark the first time I violated my "No movies starring rappers" rule... That mean you didn't see Three Kings or Men In Black?
Guest ant_7000 Posted November 9, 2002 Report Posted November 9, 2002 Or Rockstar or any other Wohlberg movie. Oh yea, My moms saw it and she said didn't care for it. I would go 2nite but I had to work late and the last show was at the same time I get off. I might like the movie because I like Em, I like rap, and I don't have nothing thing else to do.
Guest Smell the ratings!!! Posted November 9, 2002 Report Posted November 9, 2002 I'm still a little confused as to why famous people say "Oh, well with all my celebrity, it's obvious that I am also a natural actor". Eminen can barely muster up enough character for his videos, a 90 minute biopic starring him and 2 costars that may actually be worse than him by default, I'll pass on.
Guest Flyboy Posted November 9, 2002 Report Posted November 9, 2002 Update: I was able to download Part 1 on WinMX although it took forever. *waits patiently for sources to find Part 2*
Guest Lethargic Posted November 10, 2002 Report Posted November 10, 2002 8 Mile made 20 million on Friday. A 60 million opening weekend is a possibility. Too early to hope for the sinking of the Titanic? ha
Guest ant_7000 Posted November 11, 2002 Report Posted November 11, 2002 I just got back from seeing it, and I thought it was ok. Oscar worthy Not really maybe for Basinger (sp?). Chedda Bob stole the show for me you gotta to go see it for Bob he was funny. If your not into rap battles (Which were tight by the way) then you probably would skip this. I could see them making a sequel to this and show how he made it to the big time and problems that comes with it.
Guest NaturalBornThriller4:20 Posted November 11, 2002 Report Posted November 11, 2002 Rabbit ate Papa Doc alive. And yes, Cheddar Bob stole the show. Shooting yourself in the Nuts with your Mother's Gun.......Priceless
Guest ant_7000 Posted November 11, 2002 Report Posted November 11, 2002 That part was so funny, and: Rabbit: I wanna be alone Bob: Can I come with you? Yea he killed Papa Doc ass and his crew and I like how he killed Xzhibit too.
Guest NaturalBornThriller4:20 Posted November 11, 2002 Report Posted November 11, 2002 Future Whispers: "Fuck The Freeworld" Out of nowhere comes Cheddar, "Yeah, Fuck The Freeworld" Don't forget the "Sweet Home Alabama" Remix.
Guest bravesfan Posted November 11, 2002 Report Posted November 11, 2002 Although the freestyle battles segment took a good 25 minutes out of the end of the movie, viciously dragging the movie down, the content of that segment was great to keep it going, ***1/2.
Guest ant_7000 Posted November 11, 2002 Report Posted November 11, 2002 Oh yea "Sweet Home Alabama" (Remix) that was nice. I like how Bob was rambling on after he shot himself Bob: Im going to be great MC Bob His mom was funny too Mom I forgot her boyfriend's name: We have been problems in are relationship Rabbit: What is it? Mom: The sex is good all but...... Rabbit: I don't wanna hear it Mom: He won't go down on me
Guest Hogan Made Wrestling Posted November 11, 2002 Report Posted November 11, 2002 So is this the rap version of Glitter, or is there actually anything to it?
Guest ant_7000 Posted November 11, 2002 Report Posted November 11, 2002 No defintely not, its a worth see. I kinda hate how the movie ended, but I can see sequel that could build off this with him making it.
Guest NaturalBornThriller4:20 Posted November 11, 2002 Report Posted November 11, 2002 So is this the rap version of Glitter, or is there actually anything to it? Hmmm...... 8 Mile: 54 Million Glitter: BOMB 8 Mile: Praised by all major Critics (Including Ebert) Glitter: Trashed by all Critics You be the judge.....
Guest ant_7000 Posted November 11, 2002 Report Posted November 11, 2002 Although the freestyle battles segment took a good 25 minutes out of the end of the movie, viciously dragging the movie down, the content of that segment was great to keep it going, ***1/2. Yea, the battles dragged the movie a bit but they were good. They should of mix some of the battles especially the ones at the end to the earlier part of the movie so it would set up the story a little better. ***
Guest Choken One Posted November 11, 2002 Report Posted November 11, 2002 I was really glad that the likes of Ebert looked pass Em's controversty and saw the movie for what it was.
Guest Mole Posted November 12, 2002 Report Posted November 12, 2002 I saw it today, and yes, it was a good movie. I went in to the movie thinking Eminem was going to do OK. However, for his first movie ever, he did a very good job. Don't get me wrong, he was no Edward Norton, but he still showed the world he has talent. The movie had a very good story, with a great supporting cast. Basinger was excellent as Em's drunk mother. Phifer didn't steal the show, but was cool and calm, showing his acting skills. I'm not a big fan of Murphy, but her presence in this movie gave me more respect for her. She wasn't really in the movie that much, but plays a key role in the film. (Just notice what scenes she is in, and what happens) One thing that no one mentioned yet is the good job fellow D-12 member, Bizzare, did. I HATE Bizzare as a rapper, he is one of the worst. Although, his acting was pretty good for a supporting role. And one of the best parts of the movie is Eminem rapping. Hey, you can't deny the mans talent as a rapper, which is basically what the movie showcases the most. All of the rips he pulls are amazing, especially the last two. Even though this movie was good, it is missing SOMETHING. What it is, I can't put my finger on it. But it holds the movie down, thus making it not a EXCELLENT film. Is it Oscar worthy? Well, the directing was great, the screenplay was orginal for the film world, and the acting was superb. I can see them getting nominees, just not winning them. ***1/2
Guest converge241 Posted November 12, 2002 Report Posted November 12, 2002 "that being said the movie will make a ton- im saying 33 million opening holiday weekend (4 days)" yikes- i underestimated
Guest Flyboy Posted November 12, 2002 Report Posted November 12, 2002 UPDATE: Both Part I and Part II are on Kazaa for those who wanted to download it. The audio is kinda shitty, but I only downloaded the second part because of the 'Battles' at the end of the movie.
