Guest bob_barron Posted November 9, 2002 Report Posted November 9, 2002 Do you guys think there will be any Survivor Series elimination matches? I was thinking for RAW they could do- 3 Minute Warning/Commonwealth Connection v. Dudleyz/Jeff/Dreamer and for Smackdown!- Rikishi/Funaki/Kidman/Tajiri v. Matt Hardy/Noble/Crash/Cena My order of elimination for each match- for RAW- Dreamer, Spike, Storm, Jamal, Hardy, Rosey, Regal for SD!- Crash, Funaki, Tajiri, Cena, Kidman, Rikishi. Thoughts?
Guest Invader3k Posted November 9, 2002 Report Posted November 9, 2002 Probably not, because the fans would want to see matches like that.
Guest bob_barron Posted November 9, 2002 Report Posted November 9, 2002 I'm going to the show and I think they'd be fun matches to do as long as they kept a fast pace with minimal resting
ChrisMWaters Posted November 9, 2002 Report Posted November 9, 2002 I'm hoping that they do have Elimination matches... However, if they don't, it'll be like the 1992 and 1998 Survivor Series events.
Guest bob_barron Posted November 9, 2002 Report Posted November 9, 2002 1992 at least had a tag team elimination match.
ChrisMWaters Posted November 9, 2002 Report Posted November 9, 2002 1992 at least had a tag team elimination match. 2002 has an elimination match...sorta.
Guest bob_barron Posted November 9, 2002 Report Posted November 9, 2002 But not a normal elimination match like at past survivor series though. I just think elmin matches are a good way to keep the crowd into the show
Guest The Tino Standard Posted November 9, 2002 Report Posted November 9, 2002 I'd like to see one traditional Survivor Series match from each brand. With that many guys involved in the match, you should be able to get non-stop action, without any rest holds. Besides, I think it would be a good way to get a lot of people involved with the PPV who might not otherwise be "PPV ready."
Guest bob_barron Posted November 9, 2002 Report Posted November 9, 2002 The guys I have for my matches with the exception of Storm have not been on any PPVs lately.
Guest RedJed Posted November 9, 2002 Report Posted November 9, 2002 They definately should have one 5 v 5 or 4 v 4 elimination match from each brand. I honetly don't see how else they are going to fit 8 matches that have a point into the card otherwise. This would fill two spots and give guys who aren't on every ppv a chance to get some spotlight. Plus it would probably limit down the total card count to 6 matches max which is fine by me. You'd have the two SS matches, the two MEs and then the tag title match for SD, maybe Snow-Nowinski, and if you really wanted to be generous, a Cruiserweight title match. What would be better than a standard CW match would be for all of the CW guys to just be in the SD elimination match instead. Knoble/Hardy/Crash/mystery partner who could be Spanky or Guido v. Kidman/Tajiri/Funaki/Moore That RAW SS match mentioned would work just fine. I just got done watching SS 96 from MSG and the fans gave a shit about all of the elimination matches just fine.
Guest bob_barron Posted November 9, 2002 Report Posted November 9, 2002 The problem with the mystery partner thing is the MSG crowd may not know who Spanky is. They could do six matches and give the 3-way and elimination chamber matches a ton of time
Guest RedJed Posted November 9, 2002 Report Posted November 9, 2002 We got to keep in mind that I would assume they will have Steiner showing up to announce where he's going too though, so they can't overload a card. I'd like to see the Elimination Chamber and the 3 way tag match get at least 25 min each if I had my way. So assume that happens, you have those 2 matches taking up over an hour in all (with vignettes, entrances, etc), you only have a little over an hour and half for the rest of the card. Two elimination matches going about 15-20 each, Brock-Show maybe 15, and another singles bout as the opener going 5-10 minutes. Add 15 min for Steiners shot in too and barely cutting the time limit on the ppv when you add entrances/vignettes to it. Just remembered they have Trish-Victoria already annouced, don't give that more than 10 minutes for sure. I really want to see Snow v. Nowinski added too, but with that already on the card, its doubtful.
Guest bob_barron Posted November 9, 2002 Report Posted November 9, 2002 I'm thinking: 3-way and elim: 30-40 Big Show v. Brock- 10 Trish v. Victoria- 6-7 two elim matches 30-40 total So that's about an hour and a half of wrestling giving enough time for whatever. The entrances for the elim chamber are going to eat up A LOT of time
Guest bob_barron Posted November 9, 2002 Report Posted November 9, 2002 Given that Steiner isn't known for his mic skills I don't think they will drag it out like they did at Vengeance
Guest DJ Jeff Posted November 9, 2002 Report Posted November 9, 2002 The way the card is shaping up, I highly doubt that there will be in traditional Survivor Series matches. I'm thinking the Elimination Chamber match will take close to an hour, if not an hour. That right there is the reason I can't see any Survivor Series matches being made. Then again, there might be, which would be alright.
Guest The Czech Republic Posted November 9, 2002 Report Posted November 9, 2002 You know Bob, when you say that having an hour and a half of wrestling time sounds about right....that's wrong. Not you personally, but just the fact that the PPV is going to be almost like Raw in terms of bonus talking. Promos are to promote...this is it. You don't run for a touchdown when you're standing in the endzone, you already earned the points. They should be able to muster 2:25, including entrances and stuff.
Guest bob_barron Posted November 9, 2002 Report Posted November 9, 2002 I meant 90 minutes of ACTUAL wrestling. I just know the entrances to the elim chamber are going to kill a lot of time, plus with video packages, cuts to the world, backstage interviews and stuff- it cuts into time
