Minnesota Wild....

So, it's the Wild's third season in the NHL, and they're the top team thus far this season. Now, I now it's early, but do you think they can make the playoffs this year, judging from how they've been playing so far? I wouldn't mind seeing them make it.

Whoa, slow down there, tiger, it's WAY too early in the season to talk playoffs.

However, I can safely say that the Bruins will be tossed in the first round again.

The Wild definitely won't keep up their early pace... I'd be surprised if they made it, since the West is filled with good teams. They also don't have scoring talent, or great goaltending (unlike the other surprise team, the TAMPA BAY LIGHTNING that will MAKE THE PLAYOFFS over the TORONTO MAPLE LEAFS).

Don't matter who makes it, or who's out, because only one team can win the Cup at the end. Know who that's gonna be? Let's give them a hint:

Then they lost to Montreal.

The Leafs seriously need to shake up their team, by which I mean get rid of anybody not named Sundin, Domi or Mogilny. Everyone else can go. The defense is horrid:

Tomas Kaberle: soft

Jyrki Lumme: soft

Robert Svehla: soft

Aki Berg: soft

Wade Belak: shouldn't even be in the NHL

Karel Pilar: Patrice Brisebois, the Czech version.

Bryan McCabe is the only one worth keeping of the bunch, and he could be good bait. The forwards are aging, and are half-assing the season so far. Belfour and Kidd are not Joseph and Healy, far from it. It's time they firesold all the dead weight, brought up some rookies, signed Dafoe and started from scratch.

The Lightning just lost to the Blackhawks tonight. Don't be surprised when Chicago makes a good run for the Cup this year.

Minnesota is on a very lucky streak right now and I can't really explain why they are doing so well right now. Obviously it can't all be luck as they are beating some good teams.

I seriously doubt they will be able to keep this up much longer but if they do then it will be the biggest cinderella story in the history of the NHL. It won't happen though.

The Wild have an outside chance at the playoffs.

Marian Gaborik isn't far away from being one of the better players in the leauge.

So Vern, who would you rather have, the Wild or the North Stars?

this could be the 91 Minnesota North Stars here.... they had a losing record and took Pittsburgh to 6 games I believe...

oh and the cup is coming around for the 25th time.

I'm surprised how well Minnesota is doing with one of the lowest payrolls in the NHL compared to the Rangers who have the highest payroll and is one of the worst teams right now.

Yeah, the Wild are doing well. The addition of Ronning helped more than Murray Townsend or myself could have predicted, and I wish them well, because their coaching staff is packed with alumni of a certain team who shall go unnamed...

Without question the North Stars. They had some great rivals in Chicago, Detroit, and St.Louis. Plus Al Shaver who was a kickass radio announcer.
