Favorite Xmen and which you do you hate

Favorite: Iceman. The dude had serious mutant powers that could stop anyone cold, literally. They always wrote about his untapped potentional and I absolutely agree. If he wasnt such a clown he could have been the leader without a doubt. Iceman only had to worry if he was taking on the Human Torch.

Least: Wolverine. He is so over rated its funny. The guy doesnt kill like a madman, but his character is that of a loner who is pissed off and like to hurt people, what the hell. Thy drew him without a nose, some artist did, i forget actively who. Hes a loner in a group which I dont think really fits the character. And it took them what over a decade to finally come clean about who he is, and I give it 3 years before they say it was just anohtter implanted memory or something dumb like that. And in the Marvel vs DC thing, there was no way in hell he could have beat Lobo. Lobo kills planets, Wolverines body count is 5000 tops.

Its 4am I fucked up the topic, sorry.

Well, I have four favorite X-Men:

-Wolverine: always loved him, and never thought he was overrated. He was the character that got me into comics, and although I hate how Morrison and Tieri use him, I still look back on the old Claremont/Lobdell issues and smile.

-Rogue: again, she's a case of being poorly used. Sadly, Lobdell used her the best, and she was the only good thing about Claremont's latest run on the core titles. He's screwing it up now, though.

-Gambit: ah, Gambit. He's another supposedly "overrated" character that has always been one of my favorites. I guess I must be drawn to the more noble anti-heroes like himself and Wolverine.

-Blink: Loved her during AoA, and Winnick has taken her to a completely different level. Her character has changed so drastically that you'd think that she would lose some of her original charm. Winnick has given her a new charm (as a strong leader), and the more innocent character isn't missed all that much.

Hated: Cyclops. The only time he was ever good was right after Lobdell brought him out of Cypocalypse. He acted like the real badass he's always had the potential to be. Then Morrison turned him into a whiny pussy again.

Favorite:

Wolverine. He owns all and you. Without a doubt, the most popular X-Men out of them all.

Also, Magneto, Iceman, Nightcrawler, and Gambit go into that category.

Least Favorite:

Cyclops. I could never get into his character, and I've always hated him. Plus.. he took Jean away from Wolverine! Bastard.

FAV: Wolverine. Well, duh. Gambit wishes he could be as cool as Wolverine.

LEAST: Rogue. A horrible accent is only the beginning of her problems. She hasn't been properly written for years. I do have to admit that I like evil Rogue in Ultimate X-Men, though.

I really stopped reading comics during the Age of Apocalypse (I'm not even sure how that ended. btw), but my favorites were Wolverine and Gambit, and I never really cared for Beast.

Favorite: Probably Iceman.

Most Hated: Hard to pick. Tops go to:

Cyclops. Too bland and / or annoying.

Gambit. NEVER much liked him. I'm sure chicks love the whole Cajun scoundrel thing.

Jean. Well, at least how Morrison writes her.

Gambit, that guy FUCKING rules, honestly his persona is just awesome, i love the guy.

Agreed on those who dig Iceman too, he's always been one of my fave's, he truly kicks ass.

Even though he's techically not an X-Man, Magneto rules too.

Least liked would have to goto Cyclops, just cause he is a pussy who SHITS me.

Wohoo, X-men make me feel like im 6 again

Favorite: Gambit. And right now Im going to whine a lot, because I cant believe Marvel screwed one of his better characters. Gambit was hot, his 1st mini was solid gold (I like that mini a lot), but they wait, and wait... and wait to came with an ongoing, I think there was a momment where Remy became almost as popular than Wolvie, and marvel wait, and wait... Finally they gave him an ongoing with a penciller soooooo blah, when they have on that momment artist like Lee Weeks, Brett Booth or even one of the Kubert boys.

Then they have the  brilliant idea of "update" his costume, his main villain was...Executioner and one kinda piggish dude. Ugh, I dropped the book by issue 5 or so.

Now they messed with her Rogue relationship, oh well, lets not talk about that.

Jean Grey & Rogue are another of my fav X-men.

Right now I need an adjustmen, because Morrison is changin the guys/gals every sinlge issue, but at least I'll try to cheer for this guys.

Magneto.

Hate: Prof. X and Beast, and right now, several of the new guys.

Favourites: Iceman, Jubilee and X-Factor v2. Iceman because he's been "held down", Jubilee because I'm Chinese and biased. And X-Factor because Peter David made the characters entertaining. Well, maybe not Random. But he was never really an X-Man. Neither was Wolfsbane, I suppose, but New Mutant is close enough.

Least favourite: Marrow, Angel, Morph, Stacy X

Favorites:

Wolverine- Why bother saying why?

Gambit: See Wolverine

Cyclops: Yeah, I may catch some heat for this, but I always liked most leader types in comics and plus, his powers were always awesome to me as a kid.

Storm: I was in shock when I found out that she's paralyzed now. I hadn't read comics religiously in years and I was caught completely off-guard.

Nightcrawler: He was always so cool back in the early days of his initial X-Men run. It kida sucked ass that he had to play second fiddle to gassed up dumbshit like Captain Britian while a part of Excalibur.

Least Favorites:

Beast: He's been nothing but a bum ever since the Blue/Gold days.

Bishop: Bleh. He's like Punisher except he's black and just doesn't bring the same magic that Castle does.

Angel: What a whiny bitch. After his spaz attack from losing his wings during the first confrontation with the Morlocks, I stopped giving a damn.

Colossus: I wasn't a real big fan of the Gold team and Peter had never struck me as interesting EVER until his lil sister died and he snapped.

Something kinda funny: I've been watching X-Men: Evolution and both Colossus and Gambit are helpping Magneto. Peter, I can understand, but why the hell is Remi with the rest of those bums?

Been a while since I read X-Men regularly but here are my favs and not so faves...

Favorites: Jean Grey, Cyclops, Wolverine

Least favorite: Angel (liked him as Archangel with the metallic wings, he could slash people with them and fire metallic darts from them. As Angel...the only things he'll be firing are his molted feathers...)

I'm glad Starvenger mentioned Stacy X, cause I just can't STAND her.

PLEASE, someone kill her off and be quick about it.

I must be in the minority, cause I've always liked Cyclops. I haven't read X-Men in years, but he seemed to be a well-rounded character to me.

But then again, I don't know what they've done with the guy for more than ten years.

Stacy X is someone Joe Casey made for his run to join the team. She's a mutant prostitute, and her shtick is that she's basically shitty about EVERYTHING. Very grating to say the least.

Only thing good Casey ever did: Chamber as an X-Man. Chamber Rules.

You might as well mention that her mutant power is to emit pheromones - which is perfectly in line with her occupation as prostitute, but doesn't really translate well to a combat situation. As far as usefulness to the team goes, Stacy's at about Maggott level - which is about as low as you can go. Even Tom Corsi, Sharon Frielander, and Artie Maddux rank higher.

I didn't mind Psylocke. Didn't care when she died, but she didn't actively offend my intelligence like Stacy X.

Stacy X is the Psylocke Jr. of the X-Men team and that is not a good thing.

At least Psylocke had a power that was useful, even if she wasn't all that interesting. Well, the Claremont-Lee issues were interesting (if a wee bit confusing), but it was all downhill from there.

Who's Chamber?

I always liked Havok. His power was cool, and he wasn't as dickish as his brother.

Chamber (Jonothon Starsmore) is a character created for Generation X. He's got some sort of power blast that emits from his chest. Oh and the first time he used it his lower jaw and upper chest got blown away, and now "speaks" through some sort of psionic mumbo-jumbo. I really don't want to know how he eats.

"I really don't want to know how he eats."

- starvenger

We don't even know if most super-heroes need food since we rarely see them eat.

Cyclops is one of the most missused X-Men characters of all time since he *has* the potential to be made into an interesting character instead of Wolverine's whipping boy.

I think Cyclops is far too damaged to be a viable character anymore. He was fulfilling potential in Lobdell's last run (after being split from Apocalypse), but Morrison turned back the dial.

Well, I remember one X-Men issue post onslaught when all of them were on breakfast, good issue.

And 'bout Cyke n Undertak... ah mean Wolverine. God, ah think this is very similar to dat S.Keith rant 'bout HHH and the Glass Ceiling.

Wolvie got the "almighty Marvel push from hell" for I dunno how many years, and Im sure Cyke, Jean or Gambit/Rogue could be at his level if Marvel push them at the same level with good creative teams.

I hope Morrison use Cyke better, at least with this White Queen/Cyclops/Phoenix plot they are gettin some push.

The White Queen/Cyclops affair has some potential to brush off the cobwebs from Cyke and give him some meaning on the team once again along with making Emma *the* bad girl of Marvel.

Though not even close to being an X-man, I really liked Cable. I just loved his whole storyline. At the time I thought it was almost perfectly done.

I never really liked Forge. I liked the idea behind his powers, but the execution was a bit shoddy for my liking. Maybe I just didn't give him enough of a chance.

Forge was never really given the chance to shine on his own and when he was it was a half assed effort that was never meant to lead anywhere.

Cable started out okay but then he became a casuality of the X-Men timeline which is just a mess that the current crop of writers have been avoiding like the plague.

I really want Morrison use the Cyke/Queen/Phoenix plot, because, lets be honest, Jean is soo powerful and stuff but, she is the last person that can "throw the stone", she is (gasp) easy when Logan is near, right now I remember at least 2 times when Jean apply a lethal liplock of doom to Logan, once-- in X-tinction agenda, twice-- in early Casey run, and I think they even do that in F.Attractions.

The Jean/Wolvie romance angle is done which Morrison gave a funny ending to:

"Things wouldn't work out between us."

- Wolverine

Morrison echoed the sentiments of every fan and comic book writer when he wrote that story. Jean and Wolvie is too easy of a route to go with the "bad boy gets good girl" angle that has been done to death with Wolvie over the years.

Let's just hope that Emma starts to lay it into Jean about how her marriage is falling apart and how she is the one who is better off currently.
