Speaking of play, I want a detailed report from each and every one of you poor bastards who gets dragged kicking and screaming to Harry Potter. Ha!

I'm going willingly. Just because it is for kids, doesn't mean it sucks.

54 million sounds good to me. It'll make alot next week because I figure, Teens and young guys will have to take their little bros and Sons to Harry Potter, so they'll watch 8 mile because It got rave reviews.

Next Week

1. Harry Potter - 79.7 million

2. 8 Mile - 23.6 Million

3. Santa Clause 2- 17.5 Million

4. Half Past Dead 15.7 Million

5. The Ring 12.8 Million

Just to touch on Em being a "gangsta rapper" geez talk about a stereotype. NoCal you say you see him all over MTV and on the hiphop stations 150x a day. So basically that means that you hear one or two of the songs off the LP. If you actually listented to the whole album you would see that Em isn't some wannabe talking about bitches, ho's, ICE, Cristal, and all the other rehashed stuff that all the other rappers bring. He has an innovative style that really flows. I would suggest you listen to his record. You don't have to buy it, that way your on contributing to his success, I'm sure one of you peers has a copy you could listen to.

As for the movie, to pass judgement on something you haven't seen because of him being a "gangsta rapper" is just foolish. From the previews it looks to be enjoyable, and Curtis Hansen is a very good director, so im sure the look of the film is very good as well. I can't wait to see it.

Other than The Ring still doing good business there's nothing of interest from this weeks report.

Chamber of Secrets will be 100x the movie 8 mile is. No Doubt.

And yes, it is embarrasing that people went to see a movie starring a gangsta rapper. I could see $20 million, but 54 million!?! I guess white suburbanite kids were really as dumb as I thought all along.

i heard 8 mile was a good movie. I don't get why you call people mindless drones just because they went to see a movie. Chamber of Secrets will be overrated. i hate the harry potter books and the movie. They are just boring

And i want to know EXACTLY why you thinks it's better than 8 mile. :hm:

How can you know a movie will be overrated before it even comes out?

Give me a break.

People that hate things just because they are popular (usually they just call it boring) are annoying. At least tells us why it is boring.

FINALLY someone else on this board who hates Harry Potter. I wish I could go back in time and convince whatshername to write about something dumb like possums instead, that way kids wouldn't read her stuff and she'd be flat broke. HA!

Kahran, is Harry Potter even for kids now? Just about every one I know is going to see it, and they don't have kids.

Anyway, I too hate Harry Potter. The reason I can say I hate Harry Potter before it comes out is because I saw the first one. (Shut up!). After a few scenes I thought "You know, they could have cut out that whole scene and it would still be same movie". By the end, I realized I had said this about roughly half the movie. Only the presence of the all powerful Alan Rickman saved my (ex) girlfriend from being drowned in popcorn.

I'm not a fan of Harry Potter either, but since the gf wants to see it, I'm putting on the Doug Christie jersey* and heading out to the theatre with her to see it. Still not sure what was so great about the first one, but perhaps I'm too cynical to appreciate it or something.

Fair enough. As long as you have a reason for hating it, I can understand. It is just that there are several people who hate it without ever watching the movie or reading the books, thinking it is just another Pokemon that I can't stand. The same thing happens with virtually every popular film that comes out. I still know people who hate the Godfather, without actually having watched it, because according to them if it is so popular with the critics, it must be horrible.

the point is not that Eminem is a "gangsta rapper" a "hip hop arists" or what not. The point is the guy himself has been shoved down people's throats musically, and not we are to believe he is an actor? WTF.....Yah I am sure it is really hard for Eminem to pull off playing HIMSELF on the big screen, Kudos~!

it is pretty cut and dry that this movie was only made to capitalize on the popularity of Eminem as I am sure there would be no such movie in existence if they didn't have the sterotype person to play it. If Eminem wants to make a documentary on his life, then ok whatever, but how many outhouse to penthouse stories do we need to see/hear? J-Lo is no different in my opinion. I have been equally as critical of her trying to become a singer when she doesn't even sing good in the first place, and she is just an "ok" actress. So see, stop accusing me of hating "gangsta rappers" just because I see the stupidity in this "8-mile" debacle.

Doug Christie reference!

Did you read the sports guy column? It's about his basketball fantasy draft, everyone refused to take Doug Christie in the 10th round, even though he should have been taken like 3 rounds earlier. Hilarity.

I went to see "Half Past Dead" tonight. I was surprised to see that many people in the Theatre, seeing as Harry Potter was playing right next to it.

I thought it was a good Movie. I've always been a fan of Steven Seagal. Yes, Ja Rule CAN'T act, he tried, but it didn't work out. Morris Chestnut did an excellent job as the main "Villian" and he had the best dialogue in the Movie. I can see him doing more Movies as a "Villian" in the future. Nia Peoples was excellent. She kicked Ass (including Ja Rule's)

I thought that Seagal and Chestnut could have had a better fight scene, though.

Tommorow, i'll check out H.P. It was sold out in each Auditorium on each Floor(3 Floors)
