Guest Nevermortal Report post Posted November 11, 2002 Guest appearances by Mick Jagger, Tom Petty, Keith Richards, Elvis Costello, Brian Setzer, and Lenny Kravtiz. And it fucking rules! This show NEVER EVER EVER EVER disappoints. I wholely bow to its greatness.
Guest dreamer420 Report post Posted November 11, 2002 Wow, what a list of guest stars. I will be watching that one for sure.
Guest Kotzenjunge Report post Posted November 11, 2002 "When you've been in as many as I have, you can sense them coming." -- Homer, talking about riots. That was pretty funny, but I only caught the second half of it. It just seems like they're getting really absurd now though. Fo sheez, Kotzenjunge
Guest art_vandelay Report post Posted November 11, 2002 I thought it sucked. The whole thing left me with a bizarre feeling, filled with lots of unneccessary bits and a few funny jokes here and there. It just seemed like an excuse for guest appearances to boost up ratings for the season opener to me.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Report post Posted November 11, 2002 Bah, the repeat before it was funnier..
Guest Incandenza Report post Posted November 11, 2002 I enjoyed it. The Taxicab Confession parody was dated, but, other than that, I have no complaints. Two good episodes in a row aren't enough to make me forget about last season, though.
Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted November 11, 2002 Awful. Give it up Groening. The show has ran out of ideas. The worst character on the show is Homer. He's a whiney a-hole. He's completley changed from what he used to be. Maybe get rid of Homer and the show wouldn't be has bad.
Guest WrestlingDeacon Report post Posted November 11, 2002 you can't get rid of Homer, Verne, that would be like the Rockford Files without Jim. I found the guest stars all very funny, but the show was built around them entirely and it was like "how can we cram all these people in regardless of a good show." The Simpsons have developed their own formula and they've been following it to the T the past few seasons and it's wearing out. There also seems to be a leaving of putting together actual plots and just find a loose story to hang jokes on.
Guest papacita Report post Posted November 11, 2002 Tonight was the first time in a while I watched the Simpsons, and I thought the show was pretty funny. The cab confession and the devil thing at the end were kinda corny, but overall it was an ok show. They do seem like they're running low on material though. Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly Report post Posted November 11, 2002 I don't think I laughed that much during the Simpsons tonight.
Guest Incandenza Report post Posted November 11, 2002 Another plus of tonight's episode: I didn't think of Family Guy--the show The Simpsons seemed to be turning into last season--once. Hey, if you're gonna rip off another show, try one that's, ya know, funny.

The cab confession and the devil thing at the end were kinda corny, but overall it was an ok show. They do seem like they're running low on material though. Of course they're running out of ideas, they have been on the air for 14 years already. Thats incredible once you think about it. I'm surprised they have ran this long. The show still rocks. 'Nuff said.
Guest Leena Report post Posted November 11, 2002 I agree, it just seemed like there was too many guest star appearances, and it didn't have the same humor the show usually has. The last few seasons have been lacking too. The show is still funny, but I enjoy watching repeats from 5-10 years ago.
Guest Bosstones Fan Report post Posted November 11, 2002 Fox needs to kill this show NOW. It's dead, and it ain't coming back any time soon. Homer has never really been that funny, but now he's just sad. Of course, if Fox gets rid of the Simpsons, then they won't be able to run all those "special nights of The Simpsons" that they run in mid-season after all their other horrible shows have been cancelled because nobody is watching. What will they be left with? Malcolm In The Middle? Yeah, right.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Report post Posted November 11, 2002 I firmly believe that the Simpsons will go to 20 seasons and then end with a movie. Fox isn't going to cancel the Simpsons because it still is one of Fox's best rating draws and they are having enough problems keeping their newer shows on the air as it is.. Guest art_vandelay Report post Posted November 11, 2002 Fox needs to kill this show NOW. It's dead, and it ain't coming back any time soon. Homer has never really been that funny, but now he's just sad. Now that is going TOO FAR. Homer Simpson is a GOD of comedy, whether he's been off lately or not. And while I may piss at some of the newer shows they've been doing, I never hate them enough to the point that I want to see them end the series. It is still one of the better shows on TV, and anything they will replace it with if they do decide to cancel it, will most likely suck.
Guest MaxPower27 Report post Posted November 11, 2002 Eh, it was good for what it was. I am still laughing about the: Mick: Aw, c'mon Homer, it's only rock'n roll. Homer (sadly): But I like it... That was good. Costello was pretty funny. But, compared to The Monorail Episode: No.

Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted November 11, 2002 The Monorail Episode is the the funniest episode ever. Even if you think the Simpson's is still funny. Watch an old episode, and watch the newest episodes. There's no comparision. They have 14 seasons. What more can they do.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Report post Posted November 11, 2002 Although its going to take 6 or 7 years for all of the seasons up to now to be released on DVD, but the Season 1 and 2 DVDs are worth the 30-35 bucks..
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted November 11, 2002 I thought it was an alright episode...although they seem to be relying a little heavy on the celebs these days. Mick: "Don't you have to go and Stuff your crotch." Lenny: *looks at the floor* It was one of their better ones in a while...but overall the show isn't 1/3 what it was in its prime. Guest treble charged Report post Posted November 11, 2002 I liked it when Homer knocked off Elvis Costello's hat and glasses and Costello yelled, 'My image!' I also liked Tom Petty's part with the lyrics.
Guest benoitrulz4life Report post Posted November 11, 2002 Watch Season 2 and then watch the past few seasons. There's something missing from the latter that the former had. Realism. I find that the more realistic the show is and the more we can relate to it, the better it is. Whenever I watch one of the older, classic episodes I think of what Homer once said, "It's funny cuz it's true." Now we got Homer rocking out with the Stones, Homer rocking out with the Who and building a wall of garbage, Homer remaking a Mel Gibson movie, cheap stabs at celebrities, Lisa making an anti-bully perfume, and possibly the worst Simpson episode ever: the one where N'Sync guest stars and Bart, Milhouse, Nelson, and Ralph form a boy band. That one was terrible. But i guess that's what happens when you run out of ideas.
Guest Slapnuts00 Report post Posted November 11, 2002 Exactly. I love the Simpsons, but there's no comparison to the first 10 seasons or so and the last few. I mean, the great thing about the show was always it being a parody of the American family and life in general. It's stuff and people we all expirience exagerated to crazy levels to make it funny. Last few seasons have just been concept episodes that are wayyy too out there to relate to, and it just feels like your watching a bad comedy rather than a brilliant social satire. Homer is indeed the biggest change. He used to be an angry, dumb but caring father/husband that we all liked to laugh at because we pity him/can relate to him. Now he's just turned into a loud bummbling fool, and it sucks. There's hardly any emphasis on Bart anymore either. I mean does Homer even work at the powerplant anymore? How does he have time to do all this stuff? Do Bart and Lisa even go to school anymore? We hardly see them there. I will have to sadly agree with the sentiment that the Simpsons should just wrape it up after this season. It was a great run, and I have the DVDs to remember them by, but the show is just becoming a parody of itself...
Guest ant_7000 Report post Posted November 11, 2002 It was ok. I like the Rockstar training session escaping through paparazzi's and groupees.
Guest HBK16 Report post Posted November 11, 2002 I have been a fan of the show since early 1990s and I have to say that it has been suffering. I have to agree that Homer isnt as funny as he used to be but you cant get rid of him either. IMO Lenny and Carl are carrying that show. lol.
Guest Karnage Report post Posted November 11, 2002 The thing I have noticed is all the current episodes try way too much to be like the Simpsons Go To Japan episode. Its like they use that episode's formula for every new episode.
