Guest Kotzenjunge Posted November 11, 2002 Report Posted November 11, 2002 Today is the 80th birthday of the greatest author on the planet today and perhaps ever, Mr. Kurt Vonnegut. Celebrate by reading a few chapters of one of his books. I recommend Breakfast of Champions, or if you're new to his work, Slaughterhouse Five or Player Piano. Here's to him finally getting that Nobel next year!!! Fo sheez, Kotzenjunge
Guest Sassquatch Posted November 11, 2002 Report Posted November 11, 2002 I read Slaughterhouse Five a couple years go and I liked it. Happy birthday 80th birthday to Kurt Vonnegut.
Guest Kotzenjunge Posted November 12, 2002 Report Posted November 12, 2002 Damn skippy. (waits outside of Oslo with a small army waiting for Vonnegut to get his Nobel) Fo sheez, Kotzenjunge
Guest DrTom Posted November 12, 2002 Report Posted November 12, 2002 I HATED Slaughterhouse Five. I thought about kicking the shit out of the chap who recommended it to me and saying, "So it goes" while he collected his teeth off the pavement. Vonnegut redeemed himself with Breakfast of Champions, though.
Guest Kotzenjunge Posted November 12, 2002 Report Posted November 12, 2002 Hmm, I don't know how anyone could dislike it, but every reader has their opinion. I tell people they'll either love or hate his work. Fo sheez, Kotzenjunge
Guest Smell the ratings!!! Posted November 12, 2002 Report Posted November 12, 2002 I also thought Slaughterhouse was quite awful. However, I have not read Breakfast of Champions, so no teeth will be collected. Yet.
Guest raptor Posted November 12, 2002 Report Posted November 12, 2002 A lot of people cannot follow Slaughterhouse Five. It juat comes down to different types of readers, I suppose.
Guest Smell the ratings!!! Posted November 13, 2002 Report Posted November 13, 2002 I followed Slaughterhouse 5. Straight up my ass. That book was the shits.
