Guest kingkamala Posted November 12, 2002 Report Posted November 12, 2002 Now I think Simpsons compared to other current primetime shows is still one of the better shows on television, not great like it used to be but still a good solid show. But quite a few of them in the last few years have sucked. The worst was the Spring Break one from 00/01, just way too far fetched and frankly not funny. Either that or one of those season 1 episodes with shitty moral "values"

Preachy tone, obvious jokes, mush-mouthed voice acting, jerky animation, and a general lack of the wit and intelligence that the show would later become famous for. (Although yeah, all these guest celebrity shows need to stop.)

It was when they were the most pure, Homer the most angry, etc. Of course they shined after season 2. Anyway it might not count because it's a clip show, but the musical episode was terrible. I cant even sit through all that bad singing... The only funny part was the beginning...."I'm gonna paint...your wagon" then everyone starts dancing and singing!

But, as a whole, the first season sucked hard. Worst Eps: -Simpsons Roasting on An Open Fire. First eps. Homer gets Santa's Little Helper, because he can't afford any presents. I hate that eps. Animation sucks, the story was bad, etc.

Ok, maybe not THAT far - but close... Oh so close. The Streetcar eps is one of the best fucking simpsons eps EVER! How DARE you speak ill of it!

Also, throw in the remembering lovers episode, the Sherry Bobbins episode, the episode with the Thelma and Louise parody, and pretty much anything from the first season and the last season.

It totally spells out everything wrong with the Simpons now. Complete nonsensical beginning to get to the main plot. Obvious jokes. Special guest star shoed in for no reason. And an ending that comes out of nowhere that makes no sense and right when they say "oh there's a perfectly logical explanation for all of this" the damn ice cream truck or something comes by and nothing is explained and that's supposed to be the damn joke. Making fun of their ineffencies to tell actual stories anymore is supposed to make it alright?

Hated it hated it hated, for all the reasons Deacon said. It's just a matter of personal taste, but the muscial episodes annoy me too. Edit: An episode that I liked that had a terrible ending was the "Mr. X" episode. Was drugging them AGAIN when you know you're not going to ever bring up "The Island" again really necessary?

An old british series that had a limited run here in the states. I had friends of mine who were diehard Simpsons fans calling me after it aired asking me what the hell it was, because they knew I would know. They've had more obscure references I know, but to build almost an entire episode on something like that is really out there.
