NWA-TNA almost shut down back in September

Jerry and Jeff Jarrett recently sold much of NWA:TNA to Panda Energy.

However, had a deal not gone down to sell TNA, the company would have closed.

In fact, when the promotion went dark for a few weeks, airing taped episodes and taking off on 9-11-2002 in rememberance, Jerry Jarrett intended not to restart the promotion unless a deal was in motion for funding.

Well that's scary.

Thank goodness for aditional funding!

Let's hear it for additional funding!

Now get on TV

i have only seen selected nwa:tna matches (through tape trading! ) but they are doing a few things right that the fed is doing wrong (feauturing cruisers as their own separate entity) so i am happy that the thing has lasted as long as it has. now, we all have to admit that none oif us thought the promotion would have lasted this long.

Tony and I did, and we have the votes to prove it!

They need to fix their main event situation now.

The X division and tag divisions are going well.

That and need to get on TV, or at least advertise better.

Well, I guess that answers the question of "How long can they survive without a deal?"

I forget how many weeks that was, though.

it was a TV deal, not a funding deal.

The poll started after week 6.

Ah, okay.

I second that, get on TV. And for gods sakes, move to a new area (even Texas, as the crowds at shows are starting to look pitiful now) and get a location that doesn't look like a converted barn.

There was an advertisment for it during Raw last night. I guess my local cable company got something yours didn't?

Yeah, they chose to not put the Western New York market in the advertising campaign.

Bastards.

They should know that we embrace small wrestling outfits more than most.

ECW is still more popular here than WWE.

I'm in Charleston, South Carolina. Probably had a helluva lot to do with it. People around here will dig NWA always, if only because this is Flair country.

The only advertising for it in this entire area was JJ being a call in guest on our local radio wrestling show (which I never hear because it's on at like 9 am on Sundays) BEFORE the first show was on.

They should at least take out ads in papers or something.

Maybe I'll go distribute flyers.

That'd be neat.

you know, i live in san antonio and have not heard or seen one ad promoting this show. i live in one of the top 10 most populated cities in the nation and don't hear a blurb. hopefully, this company panda will do something to remedy the situation.

What is up with the East coast getting all the wrestling?

Seriously, I live in California, and all I see is indies in the south and east, WWE going on tour through Canada or New York for the bazillionth time.

I guess there really isn't much "____ Country" here though.. This is more "Wrestling Is For Fags" Country than anything else. :(

I always wondered why I never heard of a lot of organizations any further west than Texas.

I figured that lil break they did had something to do with lack of funding since they outright lied about the Fairgrounds having another thing going on those next couple of Wednesdays. All in all luck is on their side that they found a backer at that point in time with the 2-3 week break or whatever that was. Good thing 9-11 was on a Weds this year, eh?

They definately need a TV deal, but NOT just buying out late night informercial spots or something. It needs to be more solid than that.
