Coolest entrance set of all time

Recommended Posts

Guest The Hollywood Fashion Plate

The entrance set is an important element to establishing the mood and theme of every show. However, while bad sets are often criticized, good sets are rarely praised. On this post I want to know what you think the best and worst entrance sets (TV or PPV) of all time are. I'd say WM X-7 for best and FBrawl '96 as the worst.

I liked the Wrestlemania 17 set to.  I've also always liked the Halloween Havoc set WCW would have with the big pumpkin and the tombstones.

I really liked the Thunder Entrance where there was a ramp all the way to the ring (ala ecw ppvs) and the screen went to the floor.

WM x7s is a gimmie..

I don't mind the Smackdown set, and I like how it has the entrances videos on the name pop-up thingy.

My favourite was the set at No Way Out 2001.

I always liked Halloween Havoc's set with the cardboard tombstones. The best WWF set I liked was WM X-7.

Well since the WWF had so many good sets for some of these past years, I'll put it by years,

2002:No Way Out

2001:WM X-7, No Way Out, Invasion

2000:WM 16, Backlash, Fully Loaded, No Mercy

1999:Unforgiven

1998:SummerSlam, SS

Uh, that's all i can think of.

WWF: The ones they did with the car setups at Over the Edge 98 and Armageddon 2000 were pretty much my favorites. The setup at Invasion was cool also. Worst probably were some of those In Your House shows, I remember a few of them even just had the generic small walkthrough stage (kind of like what you walk through in the airport) that they used for SuperStars or Raw back in the day.

WCW: The Bash at the Beach stages were always pretty cool looking. Same with Havoc. Worst were the one they had for NWO Souled Out (way too overly done) and then the stage they used for all the Nitros/Thunders/ppvs right before WCW went under......damn talk about monotonous.

I liked the Invasion set.

It was cool seeing X-Pac walk out of one side and Kidman walk out of the other.

The Invasion may have sucked...but the set rocked.

Yeah, I liked the Invasion set too.  They should bring it back for the Mega-Cards after the split.

No.  I only saw it on tape and like hell I'm watching that match.

I hate the smackdown set, what is with the fucking fist???

my favourite set was the ecw style one that they used for their ppv's (November to remember 98.) I loved the ramp to the ring you could make it part of the match so easily. the current ramp the wrestlers look like they'll trip and fall if they run too fast.

WM 17 rules, InVasion was pretty sweet, and KOR'01 was very nice....even though the set almost killed Shane and Angle.  WM 17's set was just cool because of the sheer size of it all, compared to the Astrodome.  The InVasion set did impress me though, with the factions coming out of opposite ends and Jeff Hardy falling in the division during his HC match.

I've never seen the Souled Out '97 set. Is there a pic of it somewhere?

I liked the Havoc and Bash sets too, but I also thought the SStampede '98 set was pretty cool (with the barn, haybales, and bull-was it real or fake?) at the entrance.

For the WWF i'll have to agree with the majority and say WM X-7. Simple yet very effective, and the size of it was quite impressive.

For WCW, i liked some of the Bash at the Beach ones, with the sandcastles, beachballs and the like. It was also good when they incorporated it into matches, like Rey Mysterio Jr's hurricanrana on Chris Jericho off a lifeguards tower onto a sandcastle or something like that.

The show was awful but the best set ever:

NWO Souled Out. The very first one.

It was great to see something so original, it really had a concert type of feel to it.

Second place has to be WM x7.

Definately has to be Royal Rumble 2000. The visual of that taxi hanging over the entrance curtain was just awesome.

Any ppv that has been at Madison Square Garden. I love it when they use the little short entranceway and they do weird stuff with it. Like at Wrestlemania X when the doorway was a big "X". Summerslam (I think '98) they had gates. And of course Rumble '00. Those are always the best.
