Halle Berry, who plays Jinx in the upcoming new James Bond film titled Die Another Day, is in talks with MGM to reprise the Jinx role in a new Bond spinoff movie franchise.

Berry is currently in talks with MGM about creating the new film franchise based on her, and it would mark the first ever Bond-spinoff.

Berry's character in Die Another Day is not that of the typical Bond women in that she is very aggressive and basically a hero in herself. MGM producers obviously see an opportunity to take that character and focus a new movie franchise around it.

Die Another Day opens on November 22nd.

Translation: One Bond film every two years is no longer enough to keep MGM/UA in business.

Geez, they've said that about every Bond girl since Licence to Kill. I was watching an AMC Special and heard that spiel from at least five women.

She's a terrible actress. The "At least I've chosen a side" line from "X-Men" was said with all the convictions of teenage girl who just promised to do the dishes.

If you want to judge Halle Berry as an actress, don't judge her on X-Men... that movie sucked anyway. At least judge her on Monster's Ball or something...

I don't like the idea of a Bond spin-off though. It sorta demeans the original franchise and character. Is he going to "guest star" in Jinx's film as a "Jinx boy"? ;)

Ummm. X-Men was awesome. Great script, great acting (well, except for Halle), great characters, great direction. And guess what? It raked in the dough!

Yeah, let's judge her on a movie where she was carried by the entire cast.

Anyone else love how Storm was "...demeaning to women of color all over the world." But being Bond's hot piece of ass was "An opportunity to show women as strong, blah blahh blah."

Entire cast? She and Billy Bob Thornton WERE the entire cast :)

Anyway, back on topic, that's pretty funny about those reactions. What's especially funny is that Storm was always black, so its not like she's a token minority character or anything, and that Bond girls are usually only strong because they pimp themselves out.

What about Puff Diddy?

Sean Combs was a supporting character who was maybe only in about half the movie if I recall correctly. I'd say her son was a more important character than him, particularly considering how much she hated him. Even though he surprised me with his performance, I'd hardly say he carried anyone.

Let's be honest. Monster's Ball is a film about a man who overcomes his racism to sleep with Halle Berry.

That's no big friggin acheivement.

OK, so Halle Berry gets spun off, but Michelle Yeoh, who's actually STARRED in action movies, doesn't?

Cripes...

Or what about Felix Liter? He could have gotten a spin-off.

Wait, scratch that, no spin-offs. 007 movies are about Bond. MAYBE the villain, but they should focus on Bond. The girl is just T+A. The only spin-off I would want to watch would be a pre-quel about SPECTRE.
