Guest Kahran Ramsus Report post Posted November 13, 2002 Keep in mind that this is soley if Lesnar cannot wrestle a full-time schedule because of his rib injury. Rather than making a panic move, you have Brock beat Show at SS only to get beaten on so badly by Show that he has to forfeit his title. I propose a 16 Man Tournament with the Finals at Armageddon to crown a new WWE Champion. This also puts heat on a Lesnar return, because he never actually lost the title. This is how I would book it. As an aside, The Guerrero's win the Tag Titles at Survivor Series because I want Edge to go to the finals, since he is the top face on Smackdown with Taker & Rock out. Round One: Big Show vs. Rey Misterio - Big Show is just coming off a lost to Brock, and should be considered the favourite for this tournamnet. In order to reinforce the idea, you get someone to bump around for him in the first round. Who better than Rey Misterio? WINNER: Big Show Edge vs. Chavo Guerrero - Edge is the lone true face in this tournament that has any hope of main eventing, as such he has to be put over here by the toughest heel that is not going to make it through this round. Also, he gets to fight with Big Show, who just beat his partner. Insta-story. WINNER: Edge Rikishi vs. Kurt Angle - Angle & Benoit are tweeners, which makes booking a lot easier. In this match, Angle is a heel, and is put over by a popular face that really had no chance to go far. Kurt has some history with Rikishi, because he beat him to win KOTR 2000. WINNER: Kurt Angle John Cena vs. Billy Kidman - Cena needs to go over to put heat on his new rapper gimmick, so he goes over the stale Kidman. They have fought a lot recently, so Kidman makes a good first opponent for Cena who is still learning out there. WINNER: John Cena Jaime Noble vs. Yoshihiro Tajiri - The Cruserweight Division makes its appearance in this match, and like Cena/Kidman they have a recent history with each other. Noble is the CW Champion and needs to go over in order to give some credibility to the belt. WINNER: Jaime Noble Chris Benoit vs. Chuck Palumbo - Palumbo is without a partner given Gunn's injury, and still retains some heat because of the Gay Wedding angle. He is only here to put over Benoit. WINNER: Chris Benoit Sho Funaki vs. Matt Hardy - Funaki has been given new life recently, while Matt has completely saved his career with his Mattitude gimmick. Matt needs a win, and he gets it here. WINNER: Matt Hardy Shannon Moore vs. Eddy Guerrero - This is another one of those Insta-Feuds as Matt cheats like hell to try to get his protege a win. Eddy actually plays the face here, and pulls off the victory in order to face Matt in the quarters. WINNER: Eddy Guerrero QUARTER-FINALS: Big Show vs. Edge - This is important as both guys have a chance to win the tournament, and should be the main match in terms of fan interest in the second round. Edge has to go through, so Big Show manages to get DQd continuing his bad-ass who doesn't care whether he wins as long as he can hurt people gimmick. WINNER: Edge Kurt Angle vs. John Cena - Angle bitchslaps Cena on his way to the semis. Next. WINNER: Kurt Angle Jaime Noble vs. Chris Benoit - This match is important more for Noble's sake than Benoit's, even though Benoit is going to advance. First, since Benoit is going to be winning the tournament, Noble doesn't look bad since he lost to the guy who won the the thing. Second, it should be the best match wrestling-wise of the second round given upwards of 20 minutes, for Noble's first big time match. WINNER: Chris Benoit Matt Hardy vs. Eddy Guerrero - Heel vs. Heel, as both guys try to cheat like hell to win. This comes down to who would make a better opponent for Benoit in the semis, as well as who needs this win more. The answer to both is Guerrero. WINNER: Eddy Guerrero SEMI-FINALS: Edge vs. Kurt Angle - These two have fought several times before, and typically don't fail to disappoint. By this point, the fans will probably be expecting Benoit vs. Angle, but as the only face that has advanced this far, Edge advances. WINNER: Edge Chris Benoit vs. Eddy Guerrero - In the smark world, this is a classic match. In real life, Eddy/Edge doesn't look nearly as appealing as a main event as Edge/Benoit does. WINNER: Chris Benoit FINALS: Edge vs. Chris Benoit - This is one of the few combinations that hasn't been done to death, and are two of the big three (the other is Angle) that are just below Brock's level on Smackdown. Benoit is the better wrestler, there are more options for him as champ, and he is exactly the type of guy to hold the title as a placeholder. Edge's title win should be saved for a bigger occasion. Benoit should hold the title until Wrestlemania, jobbing either to Lesnar or Angle. WINNER: Chris Benoit
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Report post Posted November 14, 2002 UH. Why all the Cruiserweights? They have their own title to aspire for.
Guest evilhomer Report post Posted November 14, 2002 So you'd prefer to have Albert and Mark Henry included? Look at the Smackdown roster, Ron Simmons and D'Von are about the only viable opponents not included. Well written and well booked, with Heyman running the show, this kind of thing could be possible if the injury neccesitates it.
Guest Lord of The Curry Report post Posted November 14, 2002 I agree. I sincerely hope that it never comes to this, as Lesnar being injured fucks up a lot of shit, but if it did, I'd be happy with what you booked.
Guest Kahran Ramsus Report post Posted November 14, 2002 I debated putting Noble in the Semis, but Eddy would have to be the one getting the shaft. Still I feel that Noble getting into the quarters, and then losing a hard fought match to the eventual winner would give some credibility to the belt. The CWs are in the tournament largely to get them on TV, and put on better matches. Also, they tend to be more over than the Velocity heavyweights (Funaki for instance). If I put D'Von or Simmons in there, then the fans lose interest in that match. You will notice I kept Rikishi in there, because he is over, whereas Albert is not. Guest Brian Report post Posted November 17, 2002 I personally prefer to keep the titlev on Lesnar. After beating Show, he can be a total asshole heel and just refuse to defend the title. Say Show was enough for three guys. Anything to make sure Brock has the ability to job and give someone the rub; otherwise it's four months down the drain. Lesnar still has the rub to give, because he never lost. And I don't plan on having Lesnar job until he gets the title back.

Guest Kahran Ramsus Report post Posted November 18, 2002 So, now that Big Show is WWE Champion. How do you rate my fantasy booking compared to Vince's booking?
