Smackdown Spoilers...

Recommended Posts

Guest AndrewTS

:bonk: Chris...I thought some one had posted spoilers, not asking for them. :P

Put "Anyone got Smackdown Spoilers?" next time if you're going to do that. Saw just the main title on the boards as I was going in (and not the sub-title) and just clicked.

Judging by the views of this topic, I'm not the only one.

DARK MATCHES

(1) Chris Kanyon defeated Renee Dupree with the Flatliner. Crowd popped okay for the returning Kanyon. Funny moment came when the timekeeper rang the bell prematurely after a near fall.

(2) Shelton Benjamin and Lance Kane(?)defeated The Big Valbowski and Nova. Standard match. The crowd of course popped for Val, but I see nothing but potential in Benjamin. Great athlete, and good entrance music and video.

VELOCITY

(3) Chuck Palumbo beat Crash. Crash had the crowd laughing at him when he tried to put the claw on

Chuck, to no avail. He even fell over the top rope and feigned injury to try and get out of the match, but to no avail. OK for what it was.

(4) A Nidia and Jamie Knoble interview took place next. Knoble called Columbusonians a bunch of trash and said that he had beat every Crusierweight the WWE has thrown at him and Billy Kidman will lose at Survivor Series.

(5) D-Von beat Smackdown's #1 Announcer, Funaki. Not bad, but not great, either.

Albert beat Shannon Moore after a Baldo-Bomb. The crowd in my section broke out in a "Shave Your Back" chant near the beginning of the match. Pretty funny stuff.

SMACKDOWN!

Smackdown opened with Paul Heyman begging the Big Show to not attack Brock Lesnar because he has 3 broken ribs and has been coughing up blood all week.

(1) Edge defeated Chavo Guerrero after an "Edgecution." Good crowd reaction to Edge, and a great opener to Smackdown.

Next, Rey Mysterio was being interviewed when Brock Lesnar caught his eye. He asked Brock how he was feeling and Brock answered "Fine", and then walked away.

Next, Al Wilson and Dawn Marie were backstage talking about the fact that Torrie should be the first one invited to their wedding. OK segment.

Next, Paul Heyman and Brock Lesnar were talking backstage. Paul said that Brock shouldn't call out Big Show and should just leave and rest up for Survivor Series. The crowd booed at this, but Brock then said that he was going to call out Big Show later on.

(2) Matt Hardy V1 & John Cena defeated Tajiri & Rikishi. Hardy and Cena worked well together, and made this a not-bad match.

Next, we go backstage and see yet another weeks' worth of Chris Benoit and Kurt Angle arguing backstage as to who's fault it was for them losing their tag team belts. The segment is hilarious, and ends when Benoit flips Angle's gold medals up in his face, which makes Kurt take his finger and put it in Benoit's chest and flick him in the nose. Hilarious segment, but the best was yet to come from these two.

Next, Paul Heyman is in Big Show's locker room talking to him, telling him that Brock is "Young" and that Show had beaten a lot of great stars, including Hulk Hogan in his prime. He tells him again that he shouldn't call out Brock.

Next, we were "treated" to Lillian Garcia's new video and song called "Shout". They also plugged her new album.

(3) Eddie Guerrero defeated Rey Mysterio. Lots of interference and a referee bump in this one. Chavo interfered and tried to give Eddie the upper hand, but Edge came out and evened up the sides. This was easily the best match of the night. Both these guys busted their asses and gave the live crowd a great spot-fest. Eddie scored the submission win in the end.

Al Wilson confronted Torrie backstage, to which Torrie told Al that he needs to wake up and realize that Dawn Marie is nothing but a, a, a, BITCH(Which got a huge pop from the crowd).

(4) Billy Kidman defeated Jamie Knoble with Nidia after a Shooting Star Press.

Next, we have another Brock-Paul segment backstage. Paul tries his best to stop Brock from confronting Big Show, but Brock tells him that he will do what he wants to, and that later tonight, he will call out Big Show.

Next, Kurt Angle goes to the ring and talks about how Chris Benoit was the reason that they lost the tag titles and that he has single handedly beat in the last month Benoit, Edge, Rey Mysterio, and(Great moment)"Los Guerreros". Then out came Eddie and Chavo, and then Edge and Rey, and finally Benoit, which lead to the main event of the evening.

(5) Kurt Angle fought Chris Benoit to a no-contest. The match ended when all six combatants from Survivor Series' 3-way Smackdown Tag Team Title match entered the ring and started pounding the hell out of each other. At one point, both Rey and Edge had Kurt Angle in an Ankle Lock on each leg, to which Kurt was tapping out to. Later, Edge had Benoit in the Crossface. Great action. After everything settled down, Angle offered his hand for a handshake to Benoit. Benoit reluctantly shook it, and then in another great Kurt Angle moment, he started hugging Benoit(Muck like Stone Cold did to Vince McMahon last summer), and then he tried to kiss him on the cheek, and once he tried to kiss him full on the lips. After Angle and Benoit left ringside, Edge and Rey-Rey started making fun of Angle and Benoit's hugging scene and saw Edge chase Rey-Rey up the ramp. If you haven't seen Kurt Angle in person, go see him! He is the funniest and most talented piece of raw talent they have on their roster. Great entire match/segment.

To end the show, Brock Lesnar came out and called out Big Show. Finally, he became impatient with Show and as he said, "If you won't come out here, i'll come back there and find you." Then Big Show's pyro hit and he charged the ring. Brock got the upper hand on Show and then went looking for something under the ring, which he never did find. He then found a chair on the other side of the ring and started bashing the hell out of Show. Show bladed, and was bleeding very heavily as the show probably will end. After Brock left, the four Smackdown! refs came out and were looking at Show's arm, which had an ugly-looking cut on it. The final moments of the live show saw Big Show stumbling up the rampway and looking mad as the show came to an end.

Overall, damn fine show for what it was(Set-up for this Sunday's Survivor Series). I can't say how hilarious the Angle-Benoit stuff was. The arena was pretty full except for the top bowl of the arena, which was blocked with black tarps. I had 6th row seats right down from the hard camera, and it was a blast! This was the first WWF/E show i'd been to since August 1988, when I saw a WWF Wrestling Challenge taping at Hara Arena in Dayton, OH. Throughout the 90s I went to all WCW shows(Great American Bash 1995, Souled Out 1998). Anyhow, the crowd was hot all night, and no boring chants except for a few during the opening dark match.

3 Matches dealing with the Triple Threat Tag Match.

(4) Billy Kidman defeated Jamie Knoble with Nidia after a Shooting Star Press

Im guessing non title..but he used the SSP!..Im willing to bet Kidman wins the title at Survivor Series...

Tagging Matt Hardy and John Cena together is such a bad idea.

Kanyon's wrestling dark matches..

I was JUST about to say something similar.

Watch AS complain about WWE turning Angle into a quasi-homo. ;)

Cena + Hardy = Ratings. Dear god please let this team continue!

Sounds like a really good show I look forward to it. They could SO milk Rey vs. Eddie since, you know, they *did* have one of the best matches of the ever at HH97.

I wasn't crazy about the choice of words either.

I wouldn't be surprised if they did show all the Angle-Benoit stuff on Thursday.

I think AS would have to be banned for a week or so if they showed all of that stuff just to avoid a complete meltdown. Let him have a cooling off period.

AS says he doesn't watch SD anymore.

In a perverse way I want to see AS rant about this. Hopefully it'll happen by tomorrow afternoon.

Oh, and I am also *not* liking the fact that Lesnar got the upper hand on Show to end SD, considering the WWE rule that "whomever gets the last laugh before the PPV, loses the PPV match".

Guest Smell the ratings!!!

There will be much ranting, don't worry.

This show does sound pretty sweet. I love when they leave the shitty part till the end, so I don't have to watch it.

But we have a problem. Brock kicked Show's ass. We all know what WWE logic says about that.

I'm holding out hope that they let Brock get the upper hand and beat Show at SS, to further bury that worthless piece of shit. But it doesn't look good.

and a few questions.

Why was the Noble match non title?

Why is Kidman getting the title shot?

Why is Kidman suddenly on TV two consecutive weeks?

That's not always the case.

Austin got last laughs in before PPV's many times, and he won those matches.

Some people think even though HHH got the last laugh in this past Tuesday, he'll still be champ...

They tried to justify the knoble/kidman match on the PPV by having Kidman beat knoble on smackdown.

Some people say Kidman is turning heel.

Matt Hardy finally gets a win, but Rikishi doesn't Job again. This match was suppose to be a Mess.

If Big Show & Lesnar are both seriously injuired, it's going to be scary this Sunday.

Great show, I was there live, I notice in Rey's entrance video they use footage from Halloween Havoc 97.

Oh and the Angle/Benoit stuff reminded me of Angle/Austin. Benoit's actually developing a personality. Angle's the best thing to happen to him in awhile.
