Guest oldschoolwrestling Report post Posted November 13, 2002 I'm an A's fan across the Bay, but this is a huge pickup for the Gigantes. He is a good replacement for Dusty and is very respected by the Bay Area as he played here back in the day. He is one guy who can co-exist with Barry Bonds and get the most out of the team. Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted November 13, 2002 Nice pick up for sure. Was it Tony Larrussa who said: "If every team had the same players, Alou's team would win every game"
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Report post Posted November 14, 2002 IMO I think Alou is only good with young players. Alou managing a team of veterans (including Bonds) is a recipe for a disaster.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted November 14, 2002 Not really, Remember Bonds grew up with Alou...They must have a relationship. Bonds loves any Giants legend. The real concern is Jeff Kent, if he stays (unlikely)...His ego will increase. However, He won't stay anyways... Good Pick up... I guess that leaves Seattle with Buddy Bell. Although I love to see Ken Griffey get a offer.
