Kurt says his match against Brock will be...

Recommended Posts

Guest TheZsaszHorsemen

From 411:

Angle on wrestling Brock: "The people, who've been watching the show, the one thing that they take notice to is, why haven't Kurt Angle and Brock Lesner touched. That's because that will be probably … in my mind and in many other people's minds … the biggest match-up ever. When you talk about a Rock-Stone Cold showdown, when you talk about a Hulk Hogan-Andre the Giant showdown … a Kurt Angle-Brock Lesner showdown is of that caliber except you're going to see a much better match then the other ones … and I'm not taking away anything from Rock and Stone Cold or Andre the Giant and Hulk Hogan, but you're not only going to see a professional wrestling match, you're going to see a wrestling match that consists of amateur wrestling, pro wrestling. You're going to see the brutality. You're going to see two of the world's best athletes go at it - true, best athletes - so they're holding off on that. You're probably going to see something like that at something like, WrestleMania. There's a lot of curiosity from a lot of fans. And I'm more excited about that match than I am about guys like Chris Benoit and Edge and wrestling Rock and Stone Cold and Triple H and Undertaker … I've enjoyed wrestling all of those guys. But this one is going to be extra special because him and I come from the same roots. We were trained the same. We have the same beliefs. We have the same background, so this is going to be not just explosive, but very competitive. And I can't wait for that to happen, but then again I'm very patient because I know this is probably one of the biggest - if not the biggest - showdowns ever. We're going to have to hold this off for as long as we can."

Intresting....I think they could have a ***** match if it's wrestling and not like this

Brock: *punch.....stalls for 2 minutes*

Angle: *Screams in pain cause of his "broken" neck*

Me too, but I hope they either work the match in an SE sense really well or go 85% shoot because I will go nuts if it is made to suck through idiot booking...

well, i think thqat these two are probably the only two who could blend all of the different styles (shoot, mat, SE, garbage) and make it work. i just hope a feud with big show doesnt damage brock and that angle settles his issue with benoit so he can start challenging matt hardy or something;)

Brock and Angle would be a very interesting match.

I could see some "build up" moments with the two, ala Rock/Brock from this past Summerslam...the two never officially in a match against each other until their big match. They each fight to a deadlock with amature wrestling moves...they both hit the other with their finishers (Angle Slam and F5) for run ins...

The 80s had Andre/Hogan, the 90s had Austin/Rock...and the 00's very well could have Angle/Lesnar as their big match!

I'm pretty anxious to seem them wrestle. Have they even been in the same room together on tv??

well, it's too early in the decade to call this the super-duper big match.

let's just hope both guys make it to the feud in one piece since injuries are hitting everyone hard.

But they don't need to blend things. All they have to do is draw out the Benoit/Angle match base and work on the pure story of the match. Amateur backgrounds, Angle's olympic hopes dashed, the chase for the title, move for move (Angleslam/F-5, SSP/Moonsault, anklelock/bearhug), power vs. speed. I'd like to see them incorpoarate a little shooty stuff but only for a while on the mat, and I definately would rather see both guys play pinball then garbage wrestle since Angle seems to have no sense of that and I doubt Brock would either.

i take it you didn't see the HIAC match where brock proved he could brawl and be a sick fuck with the best of them.

I forgot that match. But still, Brock and Angle should have some sort of bounds and I just don't think of them doing brawling as part of it. That was a Rock/Austin thing where they both had the right to do the brawling because it was an emphasis of the style, Brock/Angle needs to evolve the style now and leave the meaningless brawling aside.

ok, you may be right but i still think that REGARDLESS of what style they choose, both can pull it off to perfection.

Angle is on drugs if he thinks this match with Brock will be one of the biggest of all time. First off, not that many people really give a shit about either guy in a money drawing sense, so the gate and buyrate for the PPV would like disappoint WWE big time.

Second, the average fan doesn't care about seeing amateur wrestling, so if they are banking Angle vs. Brock on being "the amateur champs collide!" the show will tank.

Am I the only one who thinks that the hype for a Brock/Angle match will far exceed the results?

I dunno. I am a fan of both - it's just that their inexperience would show in that match.

i actually think the hype won't do the match justice. in fact, if brock develops a little more come mania and both stays injury free, i could see this being a classic for the ages!

Both men have been built up as superb amateur wrestlers - so when they meet fans will have interest in the amateur wrestling - not for the sake of amateur wrestling, but for the sake of storylines and character.

I still would have liked to have seen Austin/Lesnar...

However, since it seems that Austin won't be back for a while, I'll go with Angle/Lesnar.

Either way, a classic. If just for the stare-down between the two.

...so sue me, I'm a fan of stare-downs. ^^

They will have to do Brock vs. Benoit before they do a match with Angle.

Kurt sounded kind of cocky in that interview.

Yeah, it might be a good match if Brock doesn't use the suck, but with how things are going, I don't see how it could compare to Rock/Austin or Andre/Hogan.

Seriously, this is the match I want to see main event WM, but you're crazy if you think this will be Hogan/Andre caliber. At this rate it will take A LOT of effort on ALL parties involved for it to even reach Austin/Rock levels.

Angle vs. Brock would be a perfect opportunity for the WWF to get 'professional' about something rather than being the wild west of wrestling. Have a press conference, an analysis of each wrestlers skills, a focus/career retrospective of both wrestlers (esp kurt angle), and make it feel like an epic title match.

I'd LOVE to see Austin vs. Lesnar at Mania for the title and having Austin come out as the winner and maybe sorta of the final nail in the coffin on the problems between Vince and Austin. Sorta like Vince saying "I should of believed and listened to you...I'm sorry and here's what I'll do about it" and Austin "I shouldn't of walked out....I'm sorry and I'm now ready to make this company big again"...but it wont happen.

Yup...

I think this is the plan Vince will fall back to when he finally snaps out of it and tells HGH "job" and Big Steph, "go knit or something"....

the new generation will be born...

Kurt? Cocky? Noooooooooo. ;)

Seriously, this one has huge possibilites.

Oh, and Austin retiring UT or making HHH job is the only way to bring him back at WrestleMania. THAT would send a message: backstage politicans need not apply.

Well last month's RAW magazine already had a sort of in-depth analysis about Angle vs. Brock, kinda like they did for Rock/Brock.

You know, I don't think Kurt ever quite recovered from that concussion. Sure, Kurt, Cliched Monster vs. the Idiot Moron JTTS will be the biggest thing we've ever seen. And Jeff Hardy has an All Access Pass to the Playboy Mansion.

Awful idea. You're going to have Austin be the first to job out Lesnar?

That honor should go to another new guy--otherwise, you're just wasting the opportunity.

kurt's ego is totally clouding his judgement here. sure, it could well be one of the best matches of all time if they somehow manage to pull it off to perfection, but one of the biggest of all time? not a chance in hell. not this wrestlemania, anyway. remember both hogan-andre and austin-rock came at times when wrestling was doing amazing business and pulling incredible buys. business if not going to turn around to that degree in just a few short months, and angle is insane if he thinks this match has the mainstream appeal to reverse that trend. i'm looking forward to it, but sheesh boy, simmer down.
