Kurt says his match against Brock will be...

"Go knit something" is now officially the all time greatest comeback to say to a woman - and the most appropriate thing Stephanie Mcmahon should be doing.

I think if done right it could have a ton of legitimacy involved because of the competitors and oculd result in some mainstream exposure, which was the point of bringing in the two boxers.

if they try to build & hype the match on "legitimate" skills, it simply won't wash with the mainstream media and public, for the very reason the xfl failed - it is promoted by vince mcmahon, and it won't be seen as important no matter what. you hit the nail on the head when you say "if done right", but that will require retuning fans into a more shoot-based amateur style of work. that can be done, but it will take time. there's simply not enough time between now and this year's wrestlemania to whip up the enthusiaism and general fan interest to make this one of the biggest matches of all time. it's a nice thought, but it ain't gonna happen.

The 80s had Andre/Hogan, the 90s had Austin/Rock...and the 00's very well could have Angle/Lesnar as their big match!

Well wast the 00's big match Rock vs Hogan?

They've accepted Benoit and Angle already and Brock/Angle will have a much more elaborate storyline that just two guys hating each other. It won't be promoted as a legitimate fight, just as a meeting of two guys with legitimate backgrounds to give way for the mat work, shooto holds, and emphasis on careers and training.

IMO...that was more like 80s vs. 90s.

i think there's every possibility that angle vs. lesnar could be the defining showdown of the decade, but for a match to be one of the biggest of all time, mainstream interest needs to be running at fever pitch. and mainstream interest in wwe right now is the drizzling shits. if they can rebuild the product based on workrate appreciation (and smackdown is heading very nicely in that direction), then angle-lesnar could actually pull off the "confrontation of the ages" schtick they seem to be building for it. but they'd be far better off rebuilding fan interest with benoit, angle, eddy, edge, lesnar, etc notching up regular classics, actually allowing the cruisers to go hell for leather, and holding the match back until next year's mania, when expectations and interest could hopefully have been built back up to the point where it could get the attention it deserves. it has such a ton of potential that building towards it when business is so bad almost feels like when wcw threw away hogan-goldberg on free tv. there hasn't been a months & months long build to a match for sooo long now that it would be very refreshing to see.

I disagree, just because Lesnar can look super strong and stay undefeated until WrestleMania it will give Angle a huge rud to work with and single-handedly elevate a ton of workers to his level, even the cruiserweights. I think this is a match they should run with at WrestleMania because they can run the Olympics angle, play off that, revert back to the Benoit feud afterwards, bring in Rhyno to feud with a fresh Brock. There's just a lot of possibilities and at some point I will post the whole thing about how they should handle this angle.

They still have three months to make that division work before they start the hard sell on the Noble/Mysterio match, and when Angle wins Mysterio will be in world title level. So will Benoit, Eddie, Edge, and lots of other will be seen on that level.

Speaking of the XFL - does anyone find it funny how Vince blames the media for ruining it by giving it so much bad press; but when he tries his 'controversial angles' it becomes "any publicity is good publicity as long as they get your name right'... I just find that funny.

The truth of the Matter is this...Angle/Brock isn't the best match for this "Match of the Century". Let's face it...Vince won't be confident in just Angle/Brock which is understandable...HHH vs Rock is very likely to be the other main event...

However, Angle and Brock can capture the nation that night with a great 30 minute classic.

00's also had Austin/Rock and Austin/Triple H in the 2-3 Falls match @ "No Way Out" in 2001 was pretty big too. Austin was still considered the "Man" and Triple H Was the "Man" at that time still.

Austin/Rock was all hangover from the nineties and Triple H/Austin was hardly classic.

I doubt Rock will come back only to lose to Triple H. There's no incentive to that. If he comes back to job, it'll be an undercard match to Benoit, Jericho or Eddie. Plus, HHH will probably still be involved with HBK at that time.
