Guest Jobber of the Week
Vince Russo and Jerry Jarrett had quite a struggle over the head booking position in NWA:TNA with the new ownership taking over.

When Jerry Jarrett was finalizing the details of the sale, Vince Russo was apparently bragging about his past resume, which included some impressive press from his WWE to WCW jump in 1999.

Jarrett was reportedly shocked by Russo’s attempts, and had to work hard to reconvince Panda executies about his skills. In Jarrett’s corner were Scott Hall, BG James, Mike Tenay and Sean Waltman, who all but promised to quit the promotion if Russo was given the book.

To regain some power, Jerry first was “cold” to his son Jeff for several days until Jeff asked his father what was wrong. Jerry told his son that he heard Jeff was supporting Russo. They sorted out their differences and Jerry began working to oust Russo completely out of the picture.

When Russo came to work the next Wednesday, he was shocked to hear that Panda was supporting Jarrett as head booker and that for the time being, he was not the lead creative voice.

It looks as though Vince Russo is gone from NWA:TNA, at least for the time being.

After trying a power play to get full control of the creative aspect of the promotion with the new owners, Panda Energy, Russo was offered a job by Jerry Jarrett to continue scripting interviews and backstage vignettes.

As of yet, Russo has not accepted that job. He has not been at the last few TNA PPVs and his status with the company is tenuous at best. There is talk that he is simply riding out his contract with TNA until it expires, or waiting in the wings in case Jarrett fails and then Russo would be the logical choice for the next head booker.

When Russo learned that Panda had put Jarrett back in charge of creative, he told them ”Good luck, you’ll need it”

Ahhh the hell with Russo, if he's noshowing events they should fire him for breach of contract. Whats the point of paying the guy if he's being a whiny bitch and isn't even helping anymore?

I don't know what it is, people in charge of wrestling companies seem to think Russo actually knows what he's doing and that fans want his booking despite the fact that he's failed everywhere he's been except a lucky moment where he booked Austin vs. Mcmahon which help turn around the WWF (many forget all the othr crap we were getting in 98-99 though)...

Many also forget the type of ratings WWF was getting in 98 and 99. They were certainly a lot higher than 3.1. And that was with competition.

I just watched a Russo raw from 99 and it was more exciting than anything WWE has done in the past two years. I'll be the first to admit that Russo has done crap in WCW (Although I enjoyed some of the things he did - Thrillers, Big Poppa push, Filthy Animals push, etc) but let's not try to get around the fact that he was a success in the WWF.

The NBT thing wasn't really Russo's doing.

Steiner was getting pushed before and after Russo

What do you mean the Thrillers weren't part of Russo's doing? Russo was the one who put the Thrillers on TV. All of whom got depushed when Bischoff brought WCW for like a month and a half.

I don't care if Russo's gone from TNA. I never thought he'd fit in well, but I did think he could help with promos, etc. TNA will be better off without him IMO.

No.

They'd be better off WITH him if he just did his job and produced promos and interviews to develop characters.

What they don't need is Russo trying to take over.

Yup, if he would just stick to what they apparently hired him for, it would be just fine.

The funny thing though is that if this weeks show was any indication, the vignettes and backstage stuff has been just fine without him.
