Jericho's New Music

Surely, everybody noticed Jericho's new theme if they watched RAW on Monday. Personally I liked the new music, but I was wondering if everybody else thought the same.

 

So, old or new?

I prefer the new track myself. I mean, it's been 3 years since he started using that song. It was about time for a change, IMO.

I love the Song as a Song in itself...but Break the Walls was a better intro...

 

Actully, King of my World fits his ego better then Break...which was a face song.

 

King of my World is getting heavy rotation in my Stereo at work....

The new song is God awful. It's beyond pitiful. He old theme was a part of one of the top three best entrances in pro wrestling.. and the WWE went and fucked up a good thing.

 

Imagine that.

I like the new theme. Its very fitting for his character and adds a new dimension to his entrance. The old one was stale, and was time for a change.

 

The song "got over" with me when they used it in his "Desire" video last week.

I'd say...Add a big bang...and then do the slow beat...but he must TIME it perfect so when it hits "I'll never see inside of heaven" He shows up with arms spread in his Jericho pose.

This trend toward giving everyone a theme music makeover is wearing a little thin. Especially now that god-awful nu-metal is the flavour du jour. Whatever happened to fashioning the music to the type of character they are, instead of buying the rights to whatever third-rate 2K hair metal band happens to fall under the WW_ radar?

Granted, but it still sounds like Test's new theme, which sounds like Benoit's new theme, which sounds like the past 40 PPV themes, which sounds like the love theme from Spider-Man, which...

 

Sorry for the anti-numetal ranting. I just wish every music trend didn't get crammed down the public's throat like so much castor oil. Having it permeate the wrestling world makes it that much more annoying. I mean, when swing music had its 15-minute comeback, I don't recall anyone coming out in a zoot suit or two-tone shoes.

Another difference...King of my world was written by FANS.. Lemmy isn't a fan of HHH or Wrestling...I seriously doubt Lil Kim is.

After hearing the new album...Saliva is no longer NU METAL.

 

They are strictly rock...Not great rock but your classic we know we suck but we love to party type of band...You just can't hate those types of bands...

There's nothing wrong with the theme, but I've never seen the need to change a song every few years, espcailly something that ruled that Jericho's. Could someone tell what's wrong with having the same theme throughout someone's career?

I like the song on it's own, but as an entrance theme? Fuck that. Gimmie the old "Break Down the Walls" anyday(fuck the remix).

The new song is alright, but IMO the "Break Down the Walls" entrance was THE best is the business. It really fit fit his character, heel or face. I really don't see the need to change it, especially to something based on this "King of the World" stuff. I just figured that was some temporary catch phrase thing, not something to base his theme music on. A wrestling catch phrase based on "Titanic", of all movies? I mean come on.

 

I don't think there is any real reason to change themes every few years like they do. Hogan used "Real American" forever, and only changed it because WWF wouldn't give him the rights to it.

 

Can you imagine Austin without the breaking glass, or Rock without his theme? For a wrestler with just a "meh" theme, one that isn't identified with the character, you can change it every now and then. But when you have a theme that identifies so strongly with a character, you shouldn't change it. Maybe if the guy turns heel or face a remix is in order, but the song should remain the same.

 

While Jericho wasn't as closely identified with "Break Down" as Hogan, Austin and Rock are/were with their music, it was still a pretty good fit. They should have kept it.

I disagree with this statement. I'd say that Jericho was a s closely identified with his theme as Rock/Austin/Hogan all were with theirs. Once the countdown and the opening lyric("C'mon... you know I got ya/Yeah, what...BREAK THE WALLS DOWNNNN!!!!") hits, everyone knows who it is. The same goes with Angle and his theme.

There was nothing wrong with the old theme, they just wanted to change it because they had a new CD coming out and they think that fans have an attention span of 6 minutes and will get bored if a guy has the same theme for a year.

The new theme sucks some big major cottage-cheese looking dimpled ass as an entrance theme..way too slow and whiny, and the tone of the guitars are too muddy, as well as the vocals are lame, with no real range or depth...

Of course, most nu-metal wannabe's are like that...not much for skill or production values...

Of course, this may just end up like the Aggression themes that came out when that CRAPPY album debuted(RAP SUCKS), then went back to the better themes, when the album tanked...

I don't like the song, but it fits Jericho's character perfectly so I give it a thumbs up.

 

Only problem is that it doesn't fit with the entrance video, or maybe that's just because Break the Walls fit it perfectly. It'll probably grow on me soon.
