Guest evenflowDDT Posted November 15, 2002 Report Posted November 15, 2002 MSNBC Story [FTC consumer protection director Howard] Beales said that during three years of operation the service charged people about $1 billion and collected half of it. The callers did include many satisfied customers, he said. That's some MAD BANK from someone who wasn't even Jamaican OR psychic... do you think this lawsuit/victory will have negative repercussions on all phone psychics, or just the more popular ones like Cleo? At least it has a happy ending, well happy for those of us who were annoyed by the constant infomercials... The service’s business fell sharply in the past year following the FTC lawsuit and is now shutting down, Beales said. “It is no longer in operation and it won’t resume,” he said.
Guest kkktookmybabyaway Posted November 15, 2002 Report Posted November 15, 2002 Ha, I knew Miss Cleo's days were numbered. And for $5.99 per minute I can tell you what that cute-looking neighbor REALLY thinks of you...
Guest Kingpk Posted November 15, 2002 Report Posted November 15, 2002 So what? She's probably going to get a slice of the GTA: Vice City sales pie.
Guest Youth N Asia Posted November 15, 2002 Report Posted November 15, 2002 If people are dumb ass enough to fork over the money then she earned it. People should not be allowed to sue based on their stupidity.
Guest DrTom Posted November 15, 2002 Report Posted November 15, 2002 I wonder if she foresaw the collapse of her little house of Tarot cards?
Guest kkktookmybabyaway Posted November 15, 2002 Report Posted November 15, 2002 If she put her earnings in untouchable off-shore accounts, then my answer would be "yes..."
Guest Lord of The Curry Posted November 15, 2002 Report Posted November 15, 2002 Youth- If that were true then cigarette and alcohol companies worldwide would be devoid of any wrongdoing. I agree with you, though it will never happen.
Guest ant_7000 Posted November 15, 2002 Report Posted November 15, 2002 Its so funny when im watching court shows and people sue each other over calling psychics and running up their phone bills.
Guest Retro Rob Posted November 16, 2002 Report Posted November 16, 2002 Yeah, if people actually had enough confidence in this woman to waste their money on her, they have no right to sue.
Guest kkktookmybabyaway Posted November 16, 2002 Report Posted November 16, 2002 I knew this chick years ago (almost 10) who would call these psychic numbers and spend an HOUR or so talking to them and taking their words as gospel. Sigh, I hate white trash...
