Post: Marvel is screwing Stan Lee out of his share of the profits from characters he created, so Stan's taking the suits to court. Get ready for the product placement sweepstakes to hit a comic store near you. The reply was... superhero Subject: Um, hey Frank MARVEL has consistently screwed most of the artists that have created for them and, back in the day, Stan Lee helped them do it while he towed the company line...so now I should feel bad for him when Marvel's FINALLY making huge movies? Post: Is Stan sueing for the money that's owed to Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko as well? Nope! he's just sueing for his own little share of the pie. WHAT A FUCKING HYPOCRITE! He helped Marvel screw SO many artists out of their fair share of the rights to the characters that THEY CO-CREATED with Stan Lee. Stan LOVES to talk about how HE created all those lovely little Marvel characters all on his lonesome and he's just SO full of shit it's incredible! So NOW that Marvel's looking to make some big profits off the characters he HELPED (not solely created...but helped create) create he's crying like a baby when Marvel could have, years ago, kicked him out on his tail instead of generously keeping him around as their lapdog/figurehead. It's not that I don't think that Stan deserves the money but unless he's gonna help Jack Kirby's estate and Steve Ditko get some cash he should just SHUT THE FUCK UP! Sure, Stan deserves his fair share of the booty but for years and years creators have been trying to get the rights to the characters they created and Stan Lee did NOTHING and even helped the big company push the artists out. Now that his little dot-com comic company went bust and he asked Marvel to let him out of his contract he's gonna go crying to the courts? Stan the Man Lee has a LOT to atone for before he gets ANY of that money. If there's any justice in this world the courts will throw Stan out on his ass the same way Stan helped Ditko and Kirby get screwed. In lighter news...Joe Simon won permission to continue pursuing his rights to Captain America. Go get 'em Joe! ---------------- It reminded me of Sass' rants against Stan Lee, I thought he'd like it.
