Guest El Satanico Posted November 17, 2002 Report Posted November 17, 2002 looks clear that Pulp will win it all...showing the decline of American Civilzation. What's the big deal? It's not like Surf Nazi's Must Die is winning it or something.
Guest El Satanico Posted November 17, 2002 Report Posted November 17, 2002 Citizen Kane: A close contest here. I don't really have any reason as to why I'm picking one over the other. Pulp Fiction: Tough one because I really like both of the movies, but Pulp Fiction will be more remember in 20 years. Not to say that being remembered makes it better, but honestly Pulp Fiction has made a bigger impact than Shawshank.
Guest Choken One Posted November 17, 2002 Report Posted November 17, 2002 Face it...people only love it because they cuss and bleed a lot.
Guest godthedog Posted November 17, 2002 Report Posted November 17, 2002 Face it...people only love it because they cuss and bleed a lot. has somebody been secretly slipping you a copy of some crappy b-movie and passing it off as 'pulp fiction'? i'll try to sum up why most people love it: format and storytelling structure are brilliant. great monologues (christopher walken's only scene, & sam jackson's final scene in the coffee shop). great acting. AMAZING dialogue (and no, not just because they cuss). go find a movie from the 90s with smarter dialogue. go on, find one. great use of music. the sheer number of great scenes: walken's monologue, both coffee shop scenes, the adrenaline scene, jack rabbit slim's, bret's apartment, marvin getting shot in the car, the cleaning of said car...this is just off the top of my head, i've probably left some out. the joy in watching a guy so many great, absurd scenes weave it all together so seamlessly that he manages to actually make it BETTER than the sum of its parts. hope that helps.
Guest El Satanico Posted November 17, 2002 Report Posted November 17, 2002 It isn't even that bloody other than the car scene. It isn't nearly as bloody or violent as Reservior Dogs.
Guest godthedog Posted November 17, 2002 Report Posted November 17, 2002 ^the scene where bruce willis basically bisects maynard with the samurai sword then blows zed's dick off with a shotgun is pretty bloody.
Guest El Satanico Posted November 17, 2002 Report Posted November 17, 2002 Yeah i guess it was even though alot of gore in that scene was off screen. Still the movie wasn't as bloody as it's made out to be by people.
