I only read them a couple of months ago. My memory isn't that bad that I can't remember the names.

 

It's not as if I go around dressed in robes with my official Harry Potter broomstick.

No no no. Before I saw the first movie, I just assumed that it was another one of those horrible kids fads like Pokemon & Power Rangers. I liked the movie, but didn't actually read the books until my sister lent them to me back in September.

I was *really* into Harry Potter... I could kill the books between 1-2 weeks flat. I was dying to read the fifth one in the series, but it STILL hasn't been released. There are some rumors that someone important gets killed in that one (I know who), and I want to see if Rowling has a big enough clit to do it.

 

 

EDIT: I have yet to see any of the movies for Potter yet.

I have always felt that Luke surviving in Star Wars, diminished the series somewhat. I would have much preferred that he die on the Death Star with Vader, making the jedi extinct. Basically, it would close an entire chapter of mythology/history in the Star Wars universe. Instead, it ends up like the events in the movie were just something that happened as a part of a larger story. Lord of the Rings has a far better ending. Tolkien clearly shows that it is a passing of an era, with the elves and the Ringbearers leaving Middle Earth, and having the timeline end with Legolas & Gimli travelling over the sea following the death of Aragorn. I especially like the fact that the two least important members of the Fellowship (Tolkien does say that Legolas accomplished the least of all the Fellowship) are the final two at the end.

Harry isn't going to die... too many kids would be hurt and blah, blah, blah. Parents would be mad, etc.

Well, if Luke dies there could still be Jedi in the galaxy. Do you read/listen to the expanded universe? Even if Luke died, if Leia and Han still would've had kids they would be Jedi's (because Leia is somewhat of a Jedi, also). Plus, they've already killed Chewbecca, bah gawd.

I haven't read the books in years, but without Luke, there is nobody to teach Leia. I don't consider the books canon anyways, even the ones I liked (the Wraith Squadron series by Aaron Allston was the best).

Luke was never officially a Jedi. He quit his training with Yoda, remember? So, technically, when Vader died, so did the Jedi.

 

But as for Harry Potter. I, too, saw the movie(The Scorcerer's Stone) before I read any of the books. A friend at work said it was pretty good, and my mom was reading the books.

 

So I bought the movie, enjoyed that, and started reading the books. Finished all four in nine days(I have no life). I can't wait for the fifth one, but Rowling had to go and get pregnant.

 

Anyway, I have yet to see The Chamber of Secrets. Gotta find someone to go watch it with me. Should be good, though. I love Emma Watson(Hermione). Just so cute... like Bubbles... only English.

They aren't, but Voldemort summoned his Death Eaters, and Snape as a former Death Eater that turned good knows that Voldemort has returned because of it. He shows Fudge the Dark Mark on his arm, but he still won't believe him. Snape still hates Potter, but he is forced to work with him (and Sirius Black, whom he also hates) out of necessity.

Luke was never officially a Jedi. He quit his training with Yoda, remember? So, technically, when Vader died, so did the Jedi.

 

Yoda told Luke that in order to become a Jedi, he must fight Darth Vader again. After Luke beats Vader and resists the dark side, he becomes a jedi. Palpatine even acknowledges it, and that's why he decides to kill Luke.

Back to the new Harry Potter flick, I thought it was definitely an improvement over the first. I still had some problems with it, and I ended up giving it a thoroughly mediocre 5/10 in my TSM review of it.

I thought it was a great fantasy film, and an excellent companion piece to The Philosopher's Stone. Very dark with an intriguing story.

 

Bring on the third!
